Anyone good with bugs?!

Okay so I bought some spinach yesterday and apperently I got more then just veggies because when I got to the BOTTOM of the bag today (thankfully I've only eaten like a handful of it) there is this really freaky and nasty smelling bug in there... STILL ALIVE! I need someone to help me identify it. I have a hard time believing its from anywhere around where I live, and I know it didn't crawl to the bottom of a sealed bag.

Its beige-tan colored has orange brown legs, 8 of them. It looks like it has a really hard "shell", but I'm not touching it. And its really funky shaped, almost like a triangle but not.

I threw the thing into a container and its sitting on my kitchen counter now. I really can't take a photo of it unless I let it out.. I was going to do that then it must have let off some sort of stink because I threw up in my sink shortly after. I got really nauseated and light headed after that.

I have like this fear of bugs, espcially one I've never seen. I did lots of googling and have no flippin clue what this thing is. I know one thing, I'm done with spinach for awhile, just EW!!!  >:( >:( >:(

:still waiting for pictures:

*Hopes the poor thing has not suffocated*

Eww that would creep me out a lot, especially the 8 legs part...hope you figure out what it is!!!

Maybe a pseudoscorpion?

I don't think there are any insects with 8 legs, but I don't think there are any arachnids with antennae ??? Hmmm.

That's where I got stuck.
arachnids = 8 legs
arachnids = no antennae (but she could be talking about the chelicerae / pedipalps)

maybe a wind scorpion? Also called a camel spider? They are arachnids, but not spiders, not poisonous, but they will munch on you. Although most bugs aren't stinky...Maybe you just freaked out so much that you threw up. http://video.clipstream.com/content/c/camel_spiders/

They get in our apartment in the summer. Yuck.

Snap, fb beat me to it.

It makes me think of the facehuggers from the Alien movies.

This thing is like a hermit crab sans shell mixed with a spider.
Is it weird that i kind of want to cuddle it?

A good solution might be to get the "bulk" spinach (non-packaged) next time and inspect it prior to buying.  No bugs!

They didn't have any stocked I went shopping towards the night time or I woulda got that one, but thanks for the suggestion anyways!

I never found out what it was, and I really don't care anymore. For all of you freaking out on the welfare of the bug, I let the stupid thing outside where it will probably freeze to death in the foot of snow we're getting.

:-D  no it wasn't a camel spider my husband couldn't figure out what it was either, but he did agree with me that it smelled horrible. Whatever it was, I don't want to see another one that's for sure.

Sorry for not replying sooner, husband ended up hurting his knee so we've been dealing with that.

Sorry to hear about your hubby's knee, hope the silly stinky bug can find shelter and that it wasn't an alien from outer space come to pollute all spinach, and therefore that you next spinach will be safe!

I'm going to have freakin' nightmares from that thing.

This makes me sad.  I'm going to have to stage an intervention.  Arachnids and insects are way awesome.  Really, the whole Arthropoda phylum rocks the house.

I found this sexy beast in my house a couple of years ago.  It's the only one I've seen.  Straight up cage fighter.

And what about this cute lil thang?

i'm usually okay with bugs but lately I have an incredible aversion to spiders.  They keep biting me in my sleep and I can't find them and the bites are REALLLY nasty and painful.  I wouldn't mind them if they'd lay off...*tear*.

hh i love the bee pic. that's adorable.

I still wanna know what that bug was!

Some weird arachnid...

fufu - I love it, too.  It's not mine.  I generically pulled it off of the web, but it's adorable.  :)>>>

(The other pic is mine.)

Do you just get one bite a night or do you get a bunch?  If you get a bunch, is there any chance that they are mite bites?

orange and eight legs, but no antennae and probably would have been mistaken as a spider...
