All of the general harassment I've been getting in the "aimless chitchat" thread has brought me to this post. So.... How about it?! Write down your gift exchange theme ideas here. After I've gotten a bunch I'll make a poll to determine the type of exchange we should have. ;)b

It would be cool if we could combine these ideas! I did a local theme on another website before and it was pretty cool. Mine is kind of hard because it's not known for much but I have a small local tea shop here which is perfect for almost all of these themes. I live in white people land but I'm sure I would be able to find asian or at least some type of ethnic stuff around (again, if I'm doing this :>).
I don't mind stereotyping the ethnicities too much because honestly, I'm Italian and just so everyone knows, my favorite cookie ever is biscotti. :) I also don't mind it being nerdy....because I'm a nerd. (we need a nerd smiley)

I can send all sorts of German stuff (from where I live now) or Jewish stuff (from where I grew up).

These can always be combined too...that might make it easier for some people because it's a bit more general than specific?
yeah, so someone could do local stuff, or if their recipient is in the same area, do stuff from their culture/heritage.
I like the book/treats idea, and the local idea!

I like the local and/or cultural idea too, but probably mainly because I'm from somewhere very different to almost all of you and so could have a lot of fun with that.

ummmm for something general but still kind of guiding, we could have a letter and/or colour theme? Like maybe try and send things that tie in with the first letter of your username? or...? I dunno, I'm no good at ideas, but I'm trying to be helpful, Lauren, honest! : )

I love the book idea, the local idea is good as well...I am game for pretty much anything.
Sesame Street Packages! As in a random letter, number and color are chosen, then packages are based on that. (Not actually sending Tickle Me Elmo's to people.)
Stuffed Animal exchange. Take a fluffy toy you own and are willing to part with and ship it off to live with a fellow VegWebber. Of course you have to include enough treats and stuff to keep it well fed and happy.
Share your hobby! Include instructions and materials for someone just starting out in a hobby that you enjoy participating in. So if HH wanted to share say learning to play guitar she could send a handwritten bit about how to read music and perhaps a copy of some said sheet music.
I like the book idea, of possibly passing on a personal favorite, perhaps even one out of your own library even.
Rainbow is cool idea.
Local is neato, though Im not entirely sure what I could send, but it bears researching.
Ethnic is harder for those of us not in touch with all 47 different heritages we may have. (ie: those of us intermingled Americans like myself)
Well, when I said ethnic/nationality I meant any, not just what you are.
