Let's talk some more about tattoos, shall we?

I know we have threads, and I know we talk about them in different places, but......here we are.

Now that I just have touch ups left on my chest, I'm trying to decide what to get to cover up my little blip of a tat. on my hip. I think I want to get something that ties in with my chest piece.

eta: I deleted that creepy picture. It was just too creepy!

Erin, as you well know, this is your choice to make. So, take what I say with a grain of salt. I say get the flowers colored in. Your piece is beautiful as it is, I promise! However, Z has a cover-up tattoo on his shoulder, so I am familiar with what it looks like, and I could tell where yours was. His cover-up is in color, and it is VERY difficult to see the old one. So, even though your tattoo is beautiful as is, and the old symbol is very difficult to see, a little color would make it even MORE difficult to see.

Again: it's beautiful as is, would be beautiful with color. You win either way.

me and 2 of my friends are going sunday to get tatted up.  We're going for a friends bday.  Not sure what I'm gonna get yet, probably just something small since this was a spur of the moment thing.

I got the line Living is easy with eyes closed tattooed on my foot yesterday.  I'll post pics when it doesn't look so swollen.

it hurt a little bit more than others I have gotten, but it looks cute and I will forget the pain!  I'm already thinking about getting one on the other foot.

Possibility of being a tattoo? I was just going to get it framed at work, but the cost would be about the same so I'm debating which to do.

I found it in my dads wallet.

I just have no idea where it would go.

oh wow is that another piece of your dad's handwriting, Sarah?
great idea, but yeah, I don't know where you'd put it... : /

uS~
How about: the top of one of your shoulders?  The inside of your forearm (facing you so you can read it whenever)?

Yeah oww, I think he put it in there to read, at one point he was boarder line suicidal when he thought he'd never get better. So I think it helped him get through that.

And lauren, I totally love that idea. I don't know if you really meant what I'm thinking, but I read it wrong at first and I like the idea. Haha. like collarbone area? It is a possibility. I was also thinking the back of my right shoulder.

I just know I want it on my right side. For a little I considered my other ankle. But I kind of think that would look weird now thinking about it.

If I get it I think I want to get it to look like pen writing. Its kind of cool how it is now, its blue ink that kind of bled a little so theres a really light blue outline on it.

Whoops!  I meant the back of your shoulder.  Having it on your collarbone could be cool too though!  You've just got to be sure you're committed to having it in a very visible place if that is where you decide to put it.  How about on your ribs then??

it would be cool in alot of places.  What about on the inside of your wrist?  I like to be able to read my tattoos sometimes.

I like the idea of having it where you can read it any time. What a wonderful gem to find, uS. I'm happy for you. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I say frame it, too, by the way.

I heard somewhere that tattoo ink is actually not vegan, because of the processes used to make the dye. Is this true??

You can request vegan ink - both places I've had my work done use vegan black ink as the standard - don't know about color though since all mine are just black...
the way it was explained to me is that the ink can be processed with bone char, similar to white sugar...
I bet AC knows more about it...

From what I understand, some colored inks may be made with animal derived glycerin, and black inks may be made from burning animal bones to charcoal. Many credible shops have vegan inks, but you need to specify.

The place I went to for my tattoo used organic inks on me...I wonder if they were vegan. I'll have to ask when I go for my next one. I wasn't vegan yet at the time i got it so...let's just hope it's vegan ink on my neck!
