You are here

for the ladies...and the brave men out there

Summer is coming and for those of you who do take time to remove unwanted body hair  ;)  Just curious as to what the vegwebbers use or do to get that smooth vegan skin hehe.

I use electric clippers to shave areas.

the real question is whether you are going to be in san francisco in august. hmm?

but really, i used to just use razors, but i don't shave anymore. razors aren't vegan, right?

they're certainly a hassle...

I'm trying to come for august, it all depends on the money situation...i know I wouldnt be driving so I would be flying...been saving the pennies!

is wax vegan? (or some of it?) one of my friends once waxed my legs (she was so excited since they were hairy --like usual)... it was nice.

If they are made, owned or parent corp'd by gillette, they are knee deep in animal testing.
Among other irresponsible companies.

Interesting...I've never really put that much thought into testing for my razors.  I must look into that. When I think testing, I think of pharmaceutical drugs, soaps, shampoos, lotions, not a razor made of metal.  What is wrong with people?

Anyways, I usually shave legs and underarms, but waxing is way better, in my opinion.  It lasts alot longer and eventually, dosent grow back as dark or thick.  I've tried threading too, it's not quite as painfull as waxing, but takes alot longer to do.  You cant cover a big area all at once like waxing.  Whatever the method, in the end, it sucks to do it :(

I try to scan products for the "against animal testing" logos which ironically are a rabbit with a slash through it.
I used to joke with my ex that this product doesnt contain bunny parts.
Trader joes and perhaps whole foods only(?) carry responsible products??

I have a vegan home wax kit! http://www.parissa.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=10&osCsid=f6da85f6a7036c441b4c575a83a39cbb  It's pine resin.

I might have to try that wax!  Usually I just shave, but in the summer when I have to do it every day I usually get so bored by it after a week that I go too fast just to get in over with and end up with little cuts all up and down my legs  ;D

If you're man enough to get a tattoo, you're man enough to wax.
Even your nether regions.

The question is, are you man enough to pay a nice lady to yank out your short curlies for you? That's the really painful (and potentially embarrassing) part.

oooohhhh. ok, i never even thought about the razors being tested on animals. wow.. thanks!

mdv...this  link said  it has beeswax

advantages: strip-free, natural formula with beeswax & azulene; european solution for dark, thick or coarse hair; use for stubbly upper-lip, chin or bikini hair.

I shave. everyyyyyy day. I have an epilator i use sometimes when i want to let hair grow out long enough to use it (its like, mechanical tweezers kind of). And i use dissolvey stuff for my lip if i dont want the pain of the epilator. And tweeze the eyebrows.
I'm an anti-body hair freak.

I think a mix of different methods is the best combination...i shave armpits (everyday cos i can't stand hairy armpits - undersarah, i'm with you on the anti-hair thing), use depilitary cream on my legs (it seems to last waaaayyyy longer than shaving, and only takes 3 minutes, just pop it on before your shower and then do something else to pass the 3 minutes), wax and tweeze my eyebrows, and wax my....bits and pieces...ha ha!  :-D

i definitely think waxing is the best way to remove hair but i'm too chicken to get it done on my armpits (its sposed to be reeeeaaally painful, especially if you've already been shaving them, which i have been doing every day for 10 years...) and i don't have the patience for the hair on my legs to grow long enough most of the time but sometimes i let them grow out and wax them.  as for the other 'bits', waxing is definitely the way to go, it hurts the first few times but after a while you get completely used to it and it doesn't bother you.  and the ladies (or men!) that do it aren't phased at looking at your privates, they're just there to earn a living.  i used to be really shy when i first went to get it done, but now i just go in, take my undies off and away i go!  ha ha  :D  the next step is finding a style that you feel comfortable with, whether you just want a 'bikini line' wax to get rid of the hair around the edge of your bikini bottoms, or if you want to travel the 'brazilian' road...not to mention all the variations in between!!!

waxing is especially good if you're like me and spend a LOT of time at the beach, because you'll always be hair free or it'll be really sparse so you never have to worry about stripping down to your bikini and realising that there's a bit too much hair going on down there...
