P90X
Anybody done it?
I started P90X Lean last Thursday and am totally loving it. Today will be day 4 and I am so sore, but am seeing a radical change in my strength and body shape. I am determined to make it the full 90 days because the transformation pictures are so incredible and the DVDs are only an hour long (the progress bar at the bottom helps/pushes me so much).
The lean version doesn't include Plyometrics, so I've been replacing Cardio X with it. My goal is to lose weight and tone up. Toning up has already begun, and with that comes weight loss, but I want to lose quite a bit, so I've been running on easier days (read: non-ab ripper days).
The only part that has me concerned is the recommended diet. It's high protein, low carb (including complex carbs) diet, essentially the opposite of how I eat. I've been aiming to get more protein, but I am not willing to stop eating grains, nor do I think it is healthy.
Ramble, ramble, ramble. I'm very excited about it and would love to hear what your experience has been with it, especially as a vegan. There's tons of info on it, tons of before and after pictures, but next to zero info on how to get P90sexxxxxy as a veg.
oh my gosh i just posted this great blog and none of it was saved when i hit "post"!
well anyway the gist of what i said was that yes i am still going strong, i took a break 2 weeks ago for far too long and just got bak into it but this is the longest stretch ive had without even a 1 daay break and im not positive how long its been but i know its longer than a week. so im proud of myself for that except that my goals arent reall y being reached yet. but i plan on going the full 90 days without a break and starting day 30 i want to take some pictures and post b4s n halfway prgress. i havnt been following the diet either not even the vegan one u showed me online but onn day 30 i plan on starting that up although i would b shredded right now if i were on it already. im also going to implement the workout w some fun zumba dvds a friend gave me to mix it up. i too can make hortons jokes for hin. ha ha but i think hes great always positive so he doesnt bother me with hiis corny-ness ha ha :)
so anyway on a side note my fiance (the guy throwing the punch in my profile pic) has been doing the workouts with me which is fun in its own right but my own little victory is that he can barely keep up! this from a guy who trains super hard sometimes more than 8 hours a day! but in his defense these workouts r much different than those hes used to.
so anyway lmk how ur all doing in regards to ur goals and ill b posting pics pretty soon....
So, I finally finished up a year of doing P90X and a few other workouts mixed in and here are my results. I'm a bit pleased with them :-)

You look amazing! Wow, great effort!
yeah, solid effort crossarmant!! : )
theo, are you still going??
I'm coming up to half way through my second phase, it's been a bit messy with having to have some time off over my brother's wedding, and then again when we went to Australia for a few days, but I'm back in the rhythm now.
wow!!! the change really is amazing. i dont kno u but im always proud when people put that kind of effort in something. nice job bro :) good luck keeping this up! i kno my change wont be that drastic but i cant wait to start seeing results. i feel them already, and im gaining strength, firming up everywhere. but cant wait til i can proudly post up some pics and say "im a bit pleased with the results" ;) nice job.
I'm on week 4 of p90x. I love it. I'm addicted to Plyo even though it totally kicks my arse.
I'll probably go for a send round for maximum results.
Love it.
For obvious reasons, your body will definitely take on a new and toned shape.
Plus the feeling of success and compete wellness will help.
Do it...........Love it. It's hard work (time consuming) but the results are well worth it.
Hey fellow vegan P90X-ers... I have a nutrition/diet question for you! I'm doing a hybrid training schedule that I made up that largely follows P90X and includes a marathon training schedule. I've just finished my third week of the first phase of the P90X diet and workouts, the "fat burner" phase, and while I'm noticing much more muscle tone and a better overall shape to my body (yay!), my weight has stayed. exactly. the same. to the tenth of a pound. I know I should be more focused on my abilities than on my weight, and I am, but if at any point in the program I'm supposed to really shed a little extra fat, I thought it was supposed to be, you know, during the "fat burning" phase. I've certainly been doing a good job of keeping within the calorie limit and I've been trying, although not perfectly, to go along with the proportions mentioned on the P90X website for vegans. Example of my daily servings for the first phase: 5 proteins, 2 fruits, 3 veggies, 1 fat, 2 grains, 1 legume, 2 'snacks,' 1 condiment. Based on your experiences following the P90X diet outline, do you think I should try to adjust my proportions, or should I just lower my calorie intake a bit more? I don't want to lose weight quickly, and I don't want to go hungry, but it would be nice to see the scale budge a bit after this much time and effort! What has worked for you??
I would think that if you are working out hard and noticing more muscle tone, but not changing weight, then you probably have lost some fat, and replaced it with muscle.
I also think that three weeks is not long to monitor changes.
that being said, I don't follow the p90x diet guide so I can't really help you tweak it.
Okay, I got P90X, but all I've done is the yoga. It's crazy hard, and I've done a fair share of yoga through the years. To maintain proper form and not get sloppy, I've divided it up into 2 sessions on 2 days, each 45 minutes. I need to try the other stuff, but I'm just stuck on the yoga. I really like it!
I am a Beachbody Coach and I am doing P90X I did Insanity prior to this. I lost ten pounds and now I am building muscle. The greatest thing is Beachbody is coming out with Vegan Shakeology Feb. 14. I CAN't WAIT!!!! This will help meet your nutritional needs with the high impact workout. I use Vega Pre workout and Vega Recovery Formula Post workout. I find it gives me the extra edge and I am not as sore. I have used Vega Whole Food Optimizer but I don't like the taste:(
For everyone I do not follow an exact vegan diet with monitoring all of my proteins and carbs. I don't find it necessary since I am not a junk food vegan. Typical breakfast smoothie with coconut or almond milk and a mixture of fruit and sometimes I add kale or romaine lettuce. I will also have Sun Warrior Warrior Blend with fruit added. Snack A piece of fruit or kale chips or spinach chips. Lunch Vegan Pizza Vegan sandwich or salad, Dinner I have been creating different veggie burgers with black beans, red beans, or and white beans. I some times eat it on a whole wheat bun or on whole wheat pasta. If I get hungry at night I eat an apple, kale chips, an orange etc. If you join team beachbody with a club membership they do have a meal planner it is not all vegan so you have to put in your own meals sometimes. Also if you want to message me on Facebook I have many friends who are working out that are vegan.
Again I have lost weight and am now seeing the muscle definition. Make sure to take before and after pictures you will really see the difference. I can't believe how much I have lost and now it is great to see the muscle coming along. Do not get discouraged it will come. My facebook is under Kendra Julian-Baker. Also check out my sites below remember Tropical Vegan Shakeology will be available Feb. 14:) Join me in Club Beachbody and we can be workout buddies. I am also thinking about getting a challenge group together. With a challenge group it is a private group on facebook and we hold each other accountable to what we eat and that we are working out.
