Ok, so we have a smiling thread. This thread is for all of the little dumb things that make you frown, or angry, or sad, etc., etc.
I'll start. I had chili for lunch today. I brought some crackers for the chili and a banana for breakfast. THE CRACKERS ABSORBED THE BANANA FLAVOR THROUGH THE BAG, SO I HAD BANANA FLAVORED CHILI FOR LUNCH! >:(
Hugs to everyone hope you feel better Sog and FuFu
Going through job search and found out that I might have gotten a position which I was interested in...if one of my references didn't mess it up. One of my former employers called me and said that somebody called a few days ago and yesterday (from two different companies that I interviewed with). He said that he said he didn't know anything at all at the first one then decided to call me with the second one. I think the company that I want to worked in should have informed the chosen candidate by now as the HR manager said that I was second to the last candidate to be interviewed.
I could have gotten a job within one week of unemployment...That just made my stomach sunk although I have been pretty upbeat, aggressive and motivated during the job search. Now I'm all anxious about anything going wrong.
I got another interview today and I was the first one that they picked to interview according to the HR. I really hope that everything goes well.

wait, backup... you inform people you are using them as references right? i do so that they will be prepared and know what to say ;)
Yeah, it's best to ask before referring to someone. I once asked someone to be a reference and they got all mad and refused. I don't know why, it was a "character" reference not job-related, but it made me rethink my friendship with that person.
Vincent is sick. Yesterday he wouldn't eat, in the middle of the night he started coughing, by lunchtime today he had a fever. Just in time for the weekend. We're supposed to go to a friend's birthday party tomorrow. And DH feels like he's coming down with something too. >:(
some people are weird like that with character references. it's like they think they're co-signing for you or something.
i admit i've used job references without informing the party. i think it's happened *once* that a prospective employer has called a reference, but then again my past jobs have been fairly entry-level anyway.
Crap.
So thanks to Saskia's help, I realised my oven wasn't heating properly.
I called the tech to see if it needed a thermostat or what.
He discovered that the fix would cost more than a new oven.
He only charged me a callout fee, which was decent of him, but still.
Since they sell the stovetop and oven as a set, that means a whole new deal.
The setup is only 12 yrs old.
Built-in obsolescence.
"After about 8 yrs they don't make parts for them anymore, they design new models."
So...about 300 600 Euros down the tube.
Crap.
Merry Christmas my arse.
Yikes, that sucks yabbit :/
I have 4 huge projects to do by Monday, orders to make, and stuff to do and while these are good things having them on the agenda when a hangover has decided to dig it's heels in is not very fun.
^ haha i didn't know u were a boozer... good luck! hate when that happens =/
SO. TIRED. I've had several nights of very little sleep with rather stressful conditions (mainly Vincent being sick, and insomnia). And thanks to the lack of sleep, I now have a cold. And that's on top of the general run-down feeling I've had lately due to very low iron, and the supplements make me nauseous and give me stomach cramps. And the weather has been hot and sticky, which isn't conducive to a good nights' sleep even when nothing else is going wrong. Also, I have baby swimming lessons in an hour and I'm supposed to meet with a guy and his dog later today for a possible dog-sitting opportunity and I need to clean up and read the dog-sitting handbook thingy to make sure I do everything right. I don't have the energy.

...just feelin' down today.
PolitialMonty, I'm sorry, I hope you feel better! Just know that you are an awesome person who deserves to feel good about how awesome they are.
My RTF is that I went to deinstall my show in Baltimore and the exhibitions students/interns/whoever damaged my piece. The painting is worth about $2000. They are going to be hearing from me a LOT this week.

:) Thank you much, IdrilAsphodel. That means a lot.
Someone damaged your painting?!?! That's so not okay! I'd be a tad bit upset..and by tad, I mean a lot. Can you shout at them: You broke it? You bought it!
Yeah, make them pay. Big time.
Do you have exposition insurance or anything?

for this particular show, I did not, as it was at my college. Though, I can fix the damage, I think. I'm for sure buying insurance on it when I show the canvas in NYC this coming January. We're not gonna mess around with idiots handling canvases again.
Massive arthritis flare up.....hands, feet, knees.....I'm semi-crippled today. :( I'm sure it is stress related over my poor self-mutilating cat. :'(
Sorry to hear about your arthritis flare up Storm. I have arthritis too (rheumatoid) and it flares up sometimes. It mostly flares up when the weather is bad. I hope you feel better soon *hugs*
Thank you Krista, mine is rheumatoid too and it sucks so much. I stalked your profile and I see you got it even younger than me...extra sucky! Mine showed up at 31, now I'm 48.
I made a loaf of Amazing Rosemary Bread last night and Hugo just knocked it off the counter, dragged it across the kitchen floor, and chomped off a big chunk. >:( I'll probably cut off the iffy spots and eat it anyway, but still.
