I freaking hate Daiya.

I went to an all Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant the other day, and got so excited because they had vegan cheese available for their veggie burger. Turns out it was my arch nemesis, Daiya! I was so disappointed, and tried to look discreet as I scraped it off my burger...

Daiya mozzarella is the most disgusting vegan product I've ever had. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same. A lot of vegwebbers seem to love the stuff,  but I think it's terrible, in any flavor. Period.

just finished up my pepper jack yesterday. i am learning this with daiya in general, less is more. I am going to start going with the freezer approach since i dot eat it fast enough and have lost a couple of bags...

amy, i think it lasts a few weeks, or a bit i less from what i can tell, but since i am the only fully vegan in the house, there is no way i use it that fast.... and anymore than  a tiny bit tastes way too off and buttery/chemically for me. thank you for the freezing tip :)

I used to love daiya when I first became vegan. I have a soy allergy so I'm pretty limited on my choices of processed foods. I made pizza and mac n cheez with the mozzarella version. Then I tried the cheddar, and it was so unappetizing that I can't eat daiya at all anymore. It doesn't really matter anymore now. I'd rather just go cheezeless on my pizza now; I don't feel like I'm missing out at all. Tastes change I guess? The yummy is in the veggies and the dough anyways. My favorite part has always been the dough.
I still have an aversion to nooch. I really really don't like the taste. I wish I did. :/

Nooch might grow on you...  I hated it for about a year, then all the sudden it's like a switch flipped & now I'm addicted to it.  I can eat it plain now.  Not that I do, but...  I could.  ;)

:D    lol  I am of the "I heart daiya" gene, as well....

I LOVE it. I find it to be the best tasting, completely vegan (no casein) vegan cheese out there. The flavor reminds me of a blend of parmesean and white chedder.  and it actually melts!

I splurged on the mozzarella Daiya the beginning of the month.  I am still up in the air about it.  My first response was "what is the big deal about?"  I grew up eating a lot of cheese, sometimes I have thought my kids were mice.  If I tried to convince myself it was real cheese, I was extremely disappointed.  In small amounts and thinking of it as just another pizza topping, it was OK but not great.  I have finally convinced myself to give up cheese, a battle I have been waging for about 30 yrs due to lactose intolerance but in general, this is not going to make it onto my regular foods list.

I do have an aversion to highly processed foods to begin with so I was a bit nervous trying it in the first place.

ive officially daiyayad myseld out me and daiya needed a break from each other as i ate an entire bag in a week span of too much vegan pizza  the worst thing about it? half of it was in a DAY on some papa johns cheeseless slices i fancied up.  im not buying it next time i grocery shop i survived my first two years of veganism without fake cheese i can survive now without too.

I agree at first I hated it then tried it again about 6 months later now i love it.  Daiya mozz is ok.  I usually use it for quesadillas and my son loves it.  I'm not that impressed with the cheddar though. I used it to make capirotada (mexican bread pudding) and it was mehhh.  I wish I could find a cheddar I like.  Pre-Vegan I was a cheddar fiend.  As for pasta sauce I've never had homemade so I wouldn't know what to compare it to.  Therefore jarred is fine although I can't eat it anymore.  :'(  Darn you acid reflux!!!!  I do however want to try the pepperjack.  I love some jalapenos!!

I guess I am kind of on the outside of this one apparently.

I can't stand to be in the same room as an open bag of Daiya as the smell makes me ill. I think the enzymes that are used in Daiya make it taste a little too close to dairy cheese. :P

The pepperjack daiya is not that good.

There. I said it.

I agree sb, I was hoping it would be better =/

But I still love it and all daiya, I just wish they zazzed the pepperjack up more, instead of loads of hype and just plain ol' cheese.

I did make a killer jalapeno cheddar mac with the mozz & cheddar daiya and it was loads better than the pepperjack garbage.

I was disappointed with the pepperjack. I haven't bought Daiya in a while, because it makes P STINK so bad. I need to make myself some mac and cheese.

the fact that it is orange instead of white threw me... i passed on trying it today and picked up the mozerella even though i only eat it occasionally on french bread pizza and in small amounts

I don't think the pepperjack is very good, either.  It tastes sort of chemical-y?  I didn't hate it, but I absolutely love the mozz & cheddar kinds, so the pj just doesn't measure up for me.

So I guess I'm odd man out since I like the pepper jack.
