How long can you go without a curry?

I realise I haven't had a curry for over two weeks. No wonder I've been feeling depressed. Tomorrow I'm going to make a Shan Korma, remembering that their mixes are high in chili so I should cut back a little and add more creaminess. Their version of korma requires rosewater, must remember to get some.

What's your favourite curry? And how often do you need that curry fix?

I strongly prefer to buy whole seeds and grind them myself.  The pre-ground stuff loses its flavor so quickly.  Cumin and coriander especially.

yup, good call.  We went spice shopping on Saturday morning and were most disturbed to find the friendly Indian couple who ran our favourite spice shop have either gone out of business or moved premises because it wasn't there any more!  Ended up getting all necessary spices from the bulk bin shop so tragedy was averted

I made a not-butter not-chicken last night with lots of veges and some chickn o'greatness : )

oh, and yabbit, I couldn't really pick, but possibly my favourite is a chana masala... ?  More likely, it's whatever curry I'm eating at the time! : )

Being out of cumin is an emergency situation. I use it in almost everything and usually have 2-3 bottles of it in my cupboard because I go through it so quickly.

yeah, I always buy all my spices in bulk, so I have little plastic bags of however much won't fit in my spice containers ready to re-fill when I run out, but every now and then I lose track of how much I've got on hand and run out before buying more.
Spice shopping is the best part of my week haha

This is so true!
I guess I use up my ground spices so quickly that they don't have time to go flat. Especially cumin.

I buy cumin in bulk.  It comes in a giant jar that holds about 2 cups...maybe 2 1/2.  If I start getting low on cumin or garlic I get really nervous until I stock up again.

I've never eaten curry and am not really bothered by that fact.

Same here. Not too popular in rural Wisconsin.

Wow:  an easy one to start with might be bombay potatoes; just pots and a few spices; I've had these either in a sauce (tomatoey plus various spices) or fairly dry.

eta:  there doesn't appear to be a VW recipe specifically called Bombay Potatoes but this is pretty much the same (save for the beans):

Golly Kikilola, that looks good! I have seen the recipe on the lists before but the name wasn't inspiring. Now i've checked it out and I'm gonna have to eat it.

I curry only when there's enough food... Though for the past week or so, I've been experimenting with oatmeal curries since I always have oatmeal :D

But oh, a magician never reveals his secrets.  ^-^

Oatmeal curry isn't as complicated as you might think; seriously, I just open the refrigerator and look for ANYTHING I can put on the skillet. After looking, which sometimes takes me a long time cause I tend to be indecisive, I briefly cook the veggies, oatmeal, and the works on dry heat, and put the lid on after adding water or some liquids and let it cook for a few minutes. Done. Straight up simple. I don't know if that certifies to be a curry, but if my stomach like it, I could care less.  8)

I would guess a month, but that only happened right after we moved to Texas, because it was too freaking hot to eat anything but salads.
