The official nut butter review (to be updated)!
Help me add reviews, and new brands! I know there are many other nut butter brands; I just can't find them.
365 Whole Foods Organics
Cashew butter creamy
OOOH! (cyets)
Natural smooth unsalted peanut butter
it is so creamy and stays that way until you get to the bottom of the jar. Probably our favorite peanut butter. (lebkuchen)
Very good for a "plain" peanut butter. I bought this to take on vacation and never had any problems with separation (after I left it upside-down overnight.) (icephrosty)
Artisana
Amazon Bliss
Cacao bliss
A mix of raw coconut and cocoa butters, plus raw cocoa nib stuff. I got a packet-sized version of this, and it was pretty grainy yet oily (like powder mixed with oil or something, and as I write that I realize that's what this probably is). It's kind of tart, and I'm not sure if that's the cacao (never had raw before), but generally not something I like too much in chocolate. Oh well. (fb)
Organic Raw Almond Butter
My favorite Almond butter. It is just plain and uncomplicated. (monkey7)
Organic Raw Black Sesame Tahini
Organic Raw Cashew Butter
This is nice and creamy. Really good. (monkey7)
Organic Raw Coconut Butter
especially love it! (veganheart)
Very tasty. This stuff is darn good right out of the jar! I also like it on top of oatmeal or even slathered on a muffin. Worth the price for sure. (icephrosty)
That stuff is awesome! It smells heavenly. I like to add just a small amount to smoothies. Yum. (lbarte)
Organic Raw Macadamia Cashew Butter
Just ok. I'm not a big Macademia nut fan. (monkey7)
Organic Raw Pecan Butter
This is awesome. The pecans are sweet and nutty. (monkey7)
Organic Raw Tahini
Organic Raw Walnut Butter
Barney Butter
Almond butter crunchy
Almond butter smooth
Better 'n Peanut Butter
Chocolate
Low sodium
Original
the best peanut butter EVER is Better'n Peanut Butter-AMAZING. it's got a smooth, yummy consistency, way lower in fat and calories than typical peanut butter, and is just plain delicious. (sunsista)
I tempered my enthusiasm for this peanut butter, branded 85% less fat and 40% less calories than peanut butter. I was pleasantly surprised! It was creamy, with no oil at the top, and had a sweet taste to it, but not too sweet. Not bad. I wonder how it bakes if I made peanut butter cookies. (saskia)
Earth Balance
Natural almond butter creamy
Natural peanut butter crunchy
Not tasty, and texture ain't great either. Even at room temp, it's difficult to spread; I'm not sure if it's the emlusification (flax), or the peanuts they use, or what. And, it just doesn't taste much like peanut butter. In fact, I went and had some of that cheapo hydrogenated stuff after this, and that tasted more peanutty. Dunno what went wrong here. (fb)
East wind nut butters
Almond butter
I wasn't a big fan of that. I wasn't a fan of the texture... (tweedle)
Cashew butter
I didn't like this at all, which is surprising because I love cashews. It just has a really bland taste. I think it would be ok for savory recipes and/or baking. (icephrosty)
I LOVE this stuff... I mix a bit of cinnamon and agave in it usually...but it's good on its own too. Personally though: it's easier to just make your own nut butter if you're going for raw nut butter. soak and blend! Still nommy though. (tweedle)
Organic peanut butter
This didn't have a strong enough peanut taste IMHO. The color looked pale too...will not buy again. (icephrosty)
Organic tahini
I give this a thumbs up. I use it all the time for tahini sauce and hummus. It has a mild taste. (icephrosty)

Grinding machine (in store)
Almond butter
I absolutely love the grind-your-own stuff! It tastes the best when the almonds are roasted and you eat it within a few days of grinding. I usually like to add a pinch of salt. (icephrosty)
mine always ends up a little too dry for my tastes, but then a week later all the oil comes out. I stir it back in, and then it's perfect. Weird, huh? (veganrun)
Cashew butter
EW. I bought some at WF and it was grossssss. Maybe because the cashews were raw? I normally like them, so I dunno. Will never, ever, EVER buy this again. (icephrosty)
Peanut butter
my absolute favorite is just plain ole freshly ground peanuts - nothing added. It is nice and cheap and not too sweet or salty. (swoop)
this is what I always buy now. Sometimes I do get tired of it, because it's not smooth, and slightly bland, but I like how it's healthier, and peanutty. It's about $3/lb. (AC)
Absolutely amazing. That's the only description it needs! (icephrosty)
I find this a tiny bit too dry, but I like it for certain things. I don't like to bake with it, but I like it in smoothies. And since it is less messy, this is the kind I like to give to the dog (I roll it into little balls and drop in his food). (veganrun)
Jif
Creamy peanut butter
This is what I always had as a kid. I've always loved it, but I go for the healthier stuff now. I'd probably still eat it if it was around. (AC)
I grew up eating this and because of it refused to eat Skippy or Peter Pan, which I thought tasted too sweet and not creamy enough, but now that I've tried the natural-oil-mix-in kind I don't care for it. (aggplanta)
Extra crunchy peanut butter
Natural peanut butter
This is good but pretty sweet. I only bought it once because I prefer my PB to have less of the sweet flavor. (berryraw)
Not too bad. I like it for cooking/baking because it doesn't separate much. It's a little salty for my taste, but I'm used to the grind-your-own stuff that has nothing but peanuts. (icephrosty)
This is pretty normal, but seems to have something weird about it. I would choose something else over it, but it's usually the best priced. (AC)
Reduced fat creamy peanut butter
Reduced fat crunchy peanut butter
This tastes kind of like it is "reduced fat" but I still think it's yummy and quite nutty tasting. This is the kind of PB we're buying mostly lately and it's good in recipes (Thai, etc) as well as for good old fashioned sandwiches. (berryraw)
Simply creamy peanut butter
Joyva
Tahini
really good. Much better than Woodstock Farms tahini, which I remember being really bitter tasting. (lebkuchen)
Justin's nut butter
Jars-Chocolate almond
Good, but not amazing. It's a little stiff IMHO. I like nut butters that are creamy and spread easily. The taste is good but it needs to be warm to spread... (icephrosty)
Jars-Chocolate hazelnut
OMG is this stuff good. It's not too sweet and has a perfect hazelnut taste. I've been eating this straight out of the jar ever since I got it! This definitely rivals the maple almond as my favorite. (icephrosty)
This has the flavor of nutella but is a bit gritty like most natural nut butters. I like it, but my daughter LOVES it. It is a reasonably healthy chocolate snack for her, so I plan to make it a pantry staple. ( lbarte)
I liked this one a lot. It is not overly chocolate and the hazelnuts balance the chocolate well. (monkey7)
Jars-Chocolate peanut
Amazing! Apparently Justin's is made in Boulder, CO! I had no idea. We got it at a "local" Whole Foods there. Best peanut butter I've ever had. Perfect flavor, not too thick. Perfect. Will buy more flavors! P usually cares nothing about peanut butter, but loved this. We ate a ton of the jar in about a day. (AC)
Jars-Classic almond butter
Nice plain almond butter. No added oils so it is less smooth then regular almond butter. (monkey7)
Jars-Classic peanut butter
Jars-Maple almond butter
This is a little harder to find than the squeeze pack, but it's worth ordering online. It tastes more fresh from the jar and it's not as hard to get out! This is one of my all-time favorite nut butters. It's seriously good! (icephrosty)
delicious! The maple makes it nice and sweet, I love it on green apples. It was a biatch to stir though. (aggplanta)
It does not have a strong maple flavor and could use a little more. Not too sweet and has a nice flavor. (monkey7)
Squeeze pack-Chocolate almond
Squeeze pack-Chocolate hazelnut
Omg delicious. If I needed to gain weight and had the money, I would eat a tub of this. It's like a much higher quality version of Nutella. Hazelnuts seem to vary in levels of deliciousness, but these are some good ones. It's pretty smooth, and among the spreads, is the most liquid. (fb)
Squeeze pack-Chocolate peanut butter
I thought that this would be pretty much chocolate + peanut butter, but there's a fair amount of cocoa butter in here. There's cocoa butter in all the flavors, but I can taste it the most in this one, to the point that it reminded me of lotion (aside from that association, it's good). I'm used to unsalted nut butters, so all of these varieties taste a little salty to me. But they're only like 3% per packet, so not so much. (fb)
Squeeze pack-Classic almond butter
The almond flavor predominates over the chocolate here. It's good, but compared to the others is my least favorite. (fb)
Squeeze pack-Classic peanut butter
Nice flavor. The texture is the same as the almond butter. It does not contain added oil. I like the squeeze paks because it is easier to transport when traveling. (monkey7)
Squeeze pack-Maple almond butter
I don't usually buy the little packets but they are great for traveling. You can get them at Starbucks, so that's a plus. I find that the almond butter is dry unless you REALLY knead the packet for a long time. (icephrosty)
This is good, but not amazing. I didn't thoroughly knead my packet, but I didn't find it too dry. It didn't have a ton of maple flavor, but still good. (AC)
Krema Nut Company

Almond butter creamy
Almond butter crunchy
This is so good. There are chuncks of almnds in every bite. (monkey7)
Almond butter with sea salt
Nice flavor but a little runny. This is just roasted almonds and sea salt. It firms up a little in the fridge but not as much as the butters with added oils. I would buy this again. (monkey7)
Natural almond butter no salt creamy
Natural almond butter no salt crunchy
Natural almond butter raw
Natural peanut butter creamy roasted
It definitely needs stirring, which was kind of weird for me, but I mean....it's peanut butter, so it's good. Nice, and creamy. (AC)
I like this the most out of the many PB brands I have tried. It is nice and creamy. I think it is worth the $5.00 for the jar. (monkey7)
Natural peanut butter crunchy
This tastes like the creamy but with some chopped peanuts mixed in. There are not that many peanuts in it though. If you are looking for a super crunchy PB, this is not the one. It is good though. (monkey7)
Natural peanut butter no salt creamy
Natural peanut butter no salt crunchy
Natural cashew butter roasted
Natural cashew macadamia butter roasted
Natural macadamia butter roasted
I don't think I'd buy this again. The taste was so-so, but I couldn't seem to find the right use for it. It didn't work well for sandwiches because it's so runny, but I did like it in smoothies. (icephrosty)
Natural tahini with salt raw
Natural tahini with salt roasted
I think this is the best brand of tahini I've used as of yet. It has good flavor and yet doesn't overpower or funk-ify my hummus or homemade cheez recipes. I don't eat it plain however. (berryraw)
I agree that this is the best tahini! The flavor is good, and it stays smooth in the fridge! I barely even had to stir it, it hadn't hardened after quite a while of not being used/open, and it was very creamy. Maybe a bit more expensive, but will buy this again. (AC)
Organic almond butter no salt creamy
Organic almond butter no salt crunchy
Organic almond butter raw
I like this because it is raw and there is no added salt. It has a nice flavor too. (monkey7)
Organic almond butter no salt creamy raw
It's very thick and hard to stir up but it's delicious and simply almond. I use it to make salad dressings most often. (berryraw)

Meridian foods
Natural almond butter
Natural brazil nut butter
Natural cashew butter
Natural crunchy peanut butter
Natural dark tahini
Natural hazelnut butter
Natural light tahini
Has a slightly bitter flavour and rough texture. Really sticks to the roof of your mouth. Regardless, I still find myself eating it... I think it would work well for something savoury, but it'd be iffy in a desserty thing or with fruit/in a sandwich/on toast. (narcissus)
Natural smooth peanut butter
Organic almond butter
Organic cashew butter
Organic crunchy peanut butter
Organic dark tahini
Organic light tahini
Organic pumpkin seed butter
Patently gross. I hope I got a bad batch, because this tasted like a cross between cardboard and old socks, with a layer of musty-smelling sunflower oil that wouldn't stir in. Just... no. (narcissus)
Organic smooth peanut butter
Naturally Nutty
Butter toffee peanut butter
Chocolate butter toffee peanut butter
Chocolate cherry peanut butter
Mocha peanut butter
Organic almond butter
Organic chocolate sunflower butter
Organic cinnamon vanilla sunflower butter
Very good. The cinnamon is subtle and it's not too sweet. You definitely need to like sunflower seeds because they have a particular taste. (icephrosty)
Organic peanut butter
Nothing special. I won't buy this again because the peanut taste wasn't very strong. (icephrosty)
Organic pepita sun seed butter
Tastes like pumpkin pie in a jar, I love it! The spice is so good in this stuff. (icephrosty)
Organic sunflower butter
I like this because it is differnt. The texture is a little gritty because it is just sunflower seeds and salt. There is a slight bitterness to it but I still thought it was good. (monkey7)
Organic vanilla almond butter
Tastes like icing. Seriously. I am in love with this almond butter and could eat it at every meal. It makes a great sandwich with fresh strawberries and shredded coconut/coconut butter. (icephrosty)
Organic vanilla peanut butter
Delicious. It's not as sweet as the vanilla almond, which is fine by me. The jar I got had visible flax and I'm absolutely loving it. These nut butters are worth the shipping cost!! (icephrosty)
White chocolate cherry almond butter
White chocolate coconut peanut butter
Nuts To You
I always buy the organic, and they's SO good... There's no added salt, sugar or oil, so it's just the pure flavor of the nut/seed. They dry roast rather than oil roast, so the taste is really clean. They do need to be stirred, since they don't have salt or oil, but I stir them once and they stay mixed nicely. So for anyone in Canada, or if you're visiting Canada, keep an eye out! (veganhealthy)

This is Safeway's (?) brand, so I'm trying to figure out how I got it at United. Anyway, it was ok...very creamy, but excessively oily. It really solidified on the bottom (AC)

Tahini
This is the most oily, nasty tasting (even in recipes), and over-priced tahini I've ever used. Ick. (berryraw)
Peanut butter & Co.
Cinnamon raisin swirl
decent, but the raisin one, the raisins are hard and unfun. (bp)
This stuff makes AMAZING breakfasts! I usually get whole wheat bread that has all sorts of fruits in it, toast it, and slather that delicious peanut butter on top. (bloodywonder)
i thought was TOO cinnamony and yeah, the raisins were,meh...id save the bucks and make my own. (LA <3)
have been thrilled to be eating it on cin raisin bagels in the morning. So far I have not run across a whole raisin but its creamy, spicy from the cinnamon and sweetly nutty. Perfect in my book. I keep contemplating on making oatmeal raisin cookies with some of that PB. 4 (cali)
awesome on toast but scares unadventurous eaters away. (cali)
It's just perfect (tweedle)
Crunch time
perfectly peanutty taste, enough peanuts that there is actually a crunch to it, not so much that you can't spread it. This is my favorite brand for peanut butter. (aggplanta)
Dark chocolate dreams
OH. MY. GOD. That stuff is beyond sinful. (bloodywonder)
very dark...kinda bitter. but i guessif you like it... (LA <3)
We bought the Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate and I prefer the dark. It is also mostly gone so I must extrapolate that Angel thinks it is supreme as well. 5 (cali)
AMAZING! i guess i am glad i didn't go w/ white choc. ha. i got it at wal-mart for like $3, which is funny because one: i never go to wal-mart but chose to set aside my loathing of wal-mart in favor of veganism and two: this is the ONLY place i have ever seen these PBs. maybe i am just so used to my own shopping routine and rarely look for products like this. (hesp)
pretty good. (fb)
really good. (saskia)
nice but can get too sweet on a sandwich. (cali)
Yummy. Very sweet. I used it to make peanut butter cookies! (KMK)
too oily tasting to me (lebkuchen)
oh man oh man. It's definitely dark chocolate flavored peanut butter, not the other way around. It's quite stiff though (I had it refrigerated), but spreads fine on hot bread. (fb)
This stuff is good but not mind-blowing. I have half a jar at home and I'm struggling to find enough uses for it. I don't really like this on sandwiches, so that limits the possibilities. I think it's best suited for making PB brownies or just eating it straight out of the jar! (icephrosty)
I threw it out halfway through (tweedle)
I eat this when I am craving Nutella (not the same, but it cures my craving). I always taste more chocolate flavor than peanut butter flavor. I really like to use this in baking because it has common dessert baking ingredients all in one package! (dalveg)
This is delish! I've been looking for an alternative to Nutella, but I haven't been able to muster the courage to spend $15 to get the good stuff on veganessentials. Although this isn't quite it, it does fill the role I've been looking for. Could use a little more chocolate flavor, but I'm not complaining. Good deal for the price. (veganrun)
This was a nice change from regular peanut butter. It is sweet (to me). (monkey7)
yum! I eat this on crackers, with pretzels, off a spoon. This isn't super strong dark chocolate to me--it's not going to kill a dark chocolate craving, but it totally squashes any cravings for peanut butter cups. I think if you melted down a peanut butter cup you'd get this. (aggplanta)
I don't love this as much as I expected. I don't dislike it, but don't find it that special. Neither the chocolate or peanut butter flavor is spectacular. I didn't like it on a banana that much, as the flavor was muddled. It's better just on its own, but not something I feel compelled to eat. (AC)
Mighty maple
Mine was weird and grainy. The flavor was just ok. I was disappointed. It tasted like it had sugar crystals in it that hadn't been mixed in. (KMK)
love it. I like the little crunchiness it seems to have from the maple syrup. (lebkuchen)
I really like this flavor a lot. It is grainy, but I don't mind the maple sugar crunch. I tend to use this more for breakfast...it's really great on pancakes or in stuffed french toast! (icephrosty)
Old fashioned crunchy
Old fashioned smooth
Smooth operator
a bit too salty for me, too. (tweedle)
Tastes like regular peanut butter. The only reason I bought it was because it came in a single serving package. It is better then Skippy's but not as good as MaraNatha. (monkey7)
again, fave brand, and it's nice and spreadable, not too oily (aggplanta)
The heat is on
I thought the spicy one was repulsive! My hubby loves peanut butter and loves all things spicy and even he hated it. (thhf)
mega salty to me. i only use it (to use it up, i wouldnt' get more) to make quick peanut sauces. (bp)
WAY too spicy for me. My partner really loves PB and spice so he thought this was a perfect combination. I bet it would be great to use when making peanut curries. I hope to try making one soon! (dalveg)
White chocolate wonderful
like the best stuff in the world (bp)
Ok, so on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being super awesome and one being yucky yucky gross, the White Chocolate Wonderful would be… maybe a 3. At least at first, just a 3. It’s not so “Wonderful”… but it’s still very yummy. I think after a few tastes, it grew on me and got better. The smell of it reminds me of… I don’t know, but something. Maybe peanut butter/chocolate Halloween candy? Like Oh Henry’s or something? Brings back vague memories…I’d probably move the rating to a 3.5 or a 4. I like it, but I’m wondering if I would have like the cinnamon raisin better (I can always add my own raising, cinnamon, etc. so I’ve got not regrets). (laurabs)
i thought it was ok.. maybe if there were white chocolate bits mixed in or something to give a more intense white chocolate flavor.. it's made me leery of spending 5 bucks on another flavor, but if i had to choose id pick the dark chocolate one. but then again i can add my own cocoa for free! (ppc)
it was just ok. it tastes like sweet peanut butter. i agree with propinecone about how it should have little white chocolate pieces in it. mmm that would be tasty. (ponycakes)
ok but not 'Must have MORE' to me. 3.5 (cali)
Sadly, I'd have to put the white chocolate at the bottom of my preference list, just because it's mostly like sweet peanut butter, with only a hint of white chocolate/cocoa butter flavor. But it's pretty good too, just maybe not worth the exorbitant price... (aziz)
bland but can stand up to being eaten on a sandwich or two back to back. (cali)
really like the White Chocolate one, which is why I don't buy it anymore because I would eat it straight outta the jar! (lebkuchen)
Just kind of sweet peanut butter. It's hard to taste much cocoa-butter-iness. It's fine though, but not worth the $5 I spent. (fb)
This is my favorite of all the PB&Co flavors. It's really sweet and makes a great PB and banana sandwich! It works well in desserts and isn't grainy at all, it's so smooth and easy to spread. (icephrosty)
i used to love it and eat it all the time, but after a while it got a little too sweet. but it's still good every once in a while. (veganhippie)
weird to me... (tweedle)
I thought this tasted like regular sweetened peanut butter (I normally eat natural peanut butters). I didn't taste any white chocolate-ness at all... just sugary peanut butter-ness. (dalveg)
PB2 (Bell Plantation)
Chocolate PB2
PB2 Powdered peanut butter
I don't think I'd make a sandwhich out of it or eat it straight, although admittedly I haven't tried, but this is great for adding peanut butter flavor to things without all the fat. I see they have a chocolate one too, but I haven't seen it around here. (lbarte)

Reduced fat creamy peanut butter
Whipped creamy peanut butter
Smart Balance
Chunky rich roast
This was the first crunchy peanut butter I've had in years (I thought I didn't like it), and I loved it. Not too chunky, peanuty, good consistency. I like both of the Smart Balance pbs. (AC)
Creamy rich roast
mmm tastes exactly like the filling in nutter butters. (cammies)
I can't find a reasonably priced natural nut butter at the store, but this is the best I've found. It's very creamy, and doesn't have any weird flavor like Jif natural seems to have. I like it. (AC)
Skippy
Creamy peanut butter
Natural creamy
I bought this for a camping trip one time. It's plain ole peanut butter, but good. (AC)
the exact texture of traditional skippy or jif pb that you probably grew up with but without the scary hydrogenation. it does have added sugar but overall it is probably alot healthier than original skippy. it's delicious and ive converted more than a few people that were originally too scared to try natural peanut butter with it. (ppc)
Just plain ole PB taste. Although, after eating organic PB this is not that great. I use it in baking or when I run out of the good stuff. (monkey7)
This stuff is really good, the kind of PB that you can eat straight out of the jar. Normally, I try to get PB with nothing added but this is soooo good. (icephrosty)
This is what I buy all the time currently, and I enjoy it. (AC)
Natural super chunk
Not bad for a plain jarred PB (I prefer the grind-your-own). My family always seems to buy this kind, so I've had it a lot. The chunks add a nice crunch. (icephrosty)
I buy it all the time, and it's so cheap! (tweedle)

Cashew butter
omfg delicious. This stuff is better than any stuff i've made from cashews, oddly. It has a bit of a grit to it though, but I don't mind - just FYI. (fb)
delicious and smooth. (veganrun)
Creamy unsalted smooth peanut butter
my favorite - just peanuts. smooth and tastes like high quality peanuts. Like any natural peanut butter, it has a tendency to separate. If you keep it in the fridge it won't separate any more, but it'll be really stiff, so... you decide. (fb)
good, regular, run of the mill pb. I like it. (veganrun)
I've been buying this pb for a while now, but I was on the review thread directory and thought I'd put in another word for this kind. It's tasty simple peanuts. Mine doesn't get that hard in the fridge, so my fridge temp might be a bit higher than fb's. (sog)
Peanut flour
It's not technically a nut butter but you can make it into one by adding liquid and stirring it up! I've been seeing it all over the blog world lately so I decided to buy some. It's around $3.50 for a whole pound, and it is very high in protein but not fat or calories. I used almond milk to reconstitute it and then stirred it into my morning oats...t'was very, very good! (icephrosty)
Raw crunchy unsalted almond butter
oh yeah baby, this is the best stuff ever! I use it everyday on my toast and in all of my raw recipes, num num num! (lebkuchen)
Pretty darn good. I really liked using this on crackers for a quick snack. (icephrosty)
I think this is actually my favorite almond butter. I love the texture. (veganrun)
Sunflower seed butter
another great one! Nice sweet flavor, verrrry smooth and wet (which is nice - it's not dry like some butters can be) (lebkuchen)
I like this, but it might be an acquired taste. If you're really used to PB or almond butter, then it might be a shock. I wish the jar came in a smaller size because a little goes a long way. It is very spreadable but sometimes a little too runny. (icephrosty)

I definitely have a lot of reviews for this one, hehe! I found out that Justin's nut butter Co. is adding three new flavors: chocolate peanut, chocolate almond, and chocolate hazelnut!!
Peanut Butter and Co - Dark Chocolate
Yummy. Very sweet. I used it to make peanut butter cookies!
Ohmygosh. I need to try this. I've only had lame boring peanut butter ever. And this sounds. soooooo good.
Don't forget Trader Joe's!
Trader Joe's Raw Crunchy Unsalted Almond Butter - oh yeah baby, this is the best stuff ever! I use it everyday on my toast and in all of my raw recipes, num num num!
Trader Joe's Sunflower Seed Butter - another great one! Nice sweet flavor, verrrry smooth and wet (which is nice - it's not dry like some butters can be)
Also, PB& Co has Bee's Knees peanut butter, which is obviously not vegan, but I tried it anyway...and it is gross! I can't pinpoint what about it I don't like, but it isn't good. I love the Mighty Maple flavor...I like the little crunchiness it seems to have from the maple syrup. The Dark Chocolate one is too oily tasting to me. I really like the White Chocolate one, which is why I don't buy it anymore because I would eat it straight outta the jar! :)
I also like the 365 Brand organic natural smooth unsalted peanut butter - it is so creamy and stays that way until you get to the bottom of the jar. Probably our favorite peanut butter.
Joyva tahini - really good. Much better than Woodstock Farms tahini, which I remember being really bitter tasting.
Woodstock Farms almond butter smooth unsalted - really good, but more expensive than TJ's brand, and I prefer TJ's brand anyway, especially since they have it in raw.
I love the Mighty Maple flavor...I like the little crunchiness it seems to have from the maple syrup.
Oh, I thought there was something wrong with mine because it was gritty like that. I guess not. Ew! Maple syrup should make things smooth, not sandy.
Peanutbutter & co
Dark Chocolate Dreams
oh man oh man. It's definitely dark chocolate flavored peanut butter, not the other way around. It's quite stiff though (I had it refrigerated), but spreads fine on hot bread.
White Chocolate Wonderful
Just kind of sweet peanut butter. It's hard to taste much cocoa-butter-iness. It's fine though, but not worth the $5 I spent.
Trader Joe's
creamy unsalted-
my favorite - just peanuts. smooth and tastes like high quality peanuts. Like any natural peanut butter, it has a tendency to separate. If you keep it in the fridge it won't separate any more, but it'll be really stiff, so... you decide.
cashew butter-
omfg delicious. This stuff is better than any stuff i've made from cashews, oddly. It has a bit of a grit to it though, but I don't mind - just FYI.
Eastwind Cashew butter: I didn't like this at all, which is surprising because I love cashews. It just has a really bland taste. I think it would be ok for savory recipes and/or baking.
Grinding machine almond butter: I absolutely love the grind-your-own stuff! It tastes the best when the almonds are roasted and you eat it within a few days of grinding. I usually like to add a pinch of salt.
Grinding machine PB: Absolutely amazing. That's the only description it needs!
Justin's maple almond butter:
Jar - This is a little harder to find than the squeeze pack, but it's worth ordering online. It tastes more fresh from the jar and it's not as hard to get out! This is one of my all-time favorite nut butters. It's seriously good!
Squeeze pack- I don't usually buy the little packets but they are great for traveling. You can get them at Starbucks, so that's a plus. I find that the almond butter is dry unless you REALLY knead the packet for a long time.
MaraNatha Macadamia Nut Butter - I don't think I'd buy this again. The taste was so-so, but I couldn't seem to find the right use for it. It didn't work well for sandwiches because it's so runny, but I did like it in smoothies.
PB&CO:
White Chocolate Wonderful - This is my favorite of all the PB&Co flavors. It's really sweet and makes a great PB and banana sandwich! It works well in desserts and isn't grainy at all, it's so smooth and easy to spread.
Mighty Maple - I really like this flavor a lot. It is grainy, but I don't mind the maple sugar crunch. I tend to use this more for breakfast...it's really great on pancakes or in stuffed french toast!
Dark Chocolate PB - This stuff is good but not mind-blowing. I have half a jar at home and I'm struggling to find enough uses for it. I don't really like this on sandwiches, so that limits the possibilities. I think it's best suited for making PB brownies or just eating it straight out of the jar!
Skippy Natural Super Chunk - Not bad for a plain jarred PB (I prefer the grind-your-own). My family always seems to buy this kind, so I've had it a lot. The chunks add a nice crunch.
Trader Joe's:
Raw crunchy unsalted almond butter - Pretty darn good. I really liked using this on crackers for a quick snack.
Sunflower Seed butter - I like this, but it might be an acquired taste. If you're really used to PB or almond butter, then it might be a shock. I wish the jar came in a smaller size because a little goes a long way. It is very spreadable but sometimes a little too runny.
Woodstock Farms organic tahini - It worked well for tahini sauce and hummus, I'd definitely buy this again.
skippy natural creamy - the exact texture of traditional skippy or jif pb that you probably grew up with but without the scary hydrogenation. it does have added sugar but overall it is probably alot healthier than original skippy. it's delicious and ive converted more than a few people that were originally too scared to try natural peanut butter with it.
My favorite peanut butter is "Cinnamon Raisin Swirl" by Peanut Butter & Co. It's just perfect. However, I could do without all their other flavors... I was not impressed by the dark chocolate, in fact, I threw it out halfway through... and the White Chocolate Wonderful was weird to me...
The plain, Smooth Operator was a bit too salty for me, too.
Next to Cinnamon Raisin Swirl, I love Skippy's Natural Extra Crunchy PB... I buy it all the time, and it's so cheap!
SMART BALANCE NATURALLY SWEETENED CREAMY ~ mmm tastes exactly like the filling in nutter butters.
PB&Co White Chocolate Wonderful: I thought this tasted like regular sweetened peanut butter (I normally eat natural peanut butters). I didn't taste any white chocolate-ness at all... just sugary peanut butter-ness.
PB&Co Dark Chocolate Dreams: I eat this when I am craving Nutella (not the same, but it cures my craving). I always taste more chocolate flavor than peanut butter flavor. I really like to use this in baking because it has common dessert baking ingredients all in one package!
PB&Co The Heat is On: WAY too spicy for me. My partner really loves PB and spice so he thought this was a perfect combination. I bet it would be great to use when making peanut curries. I hope to try making one soon!
I love Artisana nut butters, especially their coconut butter! They also make raw cashew butter, macadamia nut butter, almond butter, pecan butter, walnut butter, and black sesame tahini!

Jif Reduced Fat Crunchy PB: This tastes kind of like it is "reduced fat" but I still think it's yummy and quite nutty tasting. This is the kind of PB we're buying mostly lately and it's good in recipes (Thai, etc) as well as for good old fashioned sandwiches.
MaraNatha Creamy Raw Almond Butter, no salt: It's very thick and hard to stir up but it's delicious and simply almond. I use it to make salad dressings most often.
MaraNatha Roasted Sesame Tahini: I think this is the best brand of tahini I've used as of yet. It has good flavor and yet doesn't overpower or funk-ify my hummus or homemade cheez recipes. I don't eat it plain however.
Jif Natural Peanut Butter: This is good but pretty sweet. I only bought it once because I prefer my PB to have less of the sweet flavor.
Oooh, I really want to try some dark chocolate PB now!!!!

I don't think these two will mix! ; )
My Maranatha is really thick, too. And, now I'm wondering if anyone eats tahini plain!
Jif Natural - Not too bad. I like it for cooking/baking because it doesn't separate much. It's a little salty for my taste, but I'm used to the grind-your-own stuff that has nothing but peanuts.
I prefer my PB to have less of the sweet flavor.

No they don't mix! :P I was just looking down the list of reviews before I posted and saw a dark chocolate butter and a craving struck. I'm pregnant, my food cravings are whacked out!
I know, ick - tahini plain?
Justin's Nut Butter Jars-
Chocolate Almond: Good, but not amazing. It's a little stiff IMHO. I like nut butters that are creamy and spread easily. The taste is good but it needs to be warm to spread...
Chocolate Hazelnut: OMG is this stuff good. It's not too sweet and has a perfect hazelnut taste. I've been eating this straight out of the jar ever since I got it! This definitely rivals the maple almond as my favorite.
yay for icephrosty nut butter reviews! :D
