Favorite Vegan hotdog

Went on my first camping trip this year and roasted "weenies". When I was a Lacto-ovo i liked the morningstar brand this last trip we tried the lightlife kind and they weren't as good. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I like the Tofurky Chipotle Dogs myself.  Yves run a close second.

There was a time in my life when I'd run from a veggie dog. Yuck, I hated them.  Then I became vegetarian and wanted a hot dog so I tried several kinds and now I'll eat any brand with fried onions, green relish, mustard, ketchup (maybe ketchup) and if I'm really doing a job on them with coleslaw.  The only kind I really don't like are the hot, spicy ones because I don't like hot and spicy.

I have not found any that I like so far, but I am not the best judge because I don't seem to like "mock meat".  The ONLY mock meats I like are soyrizo, and Veggie Patch "chicken patties" so if any one has suggestions please pass em on to me as I do miss hot dogs ALOT :)

Tofurky just came out with some in a blu epackage and they are great. Taste good and good price at some Whoelfoods. All the other brands are nasty.

Thanks for the tip. I will watch for the Tofurkey ones in the blue package. I agree that most of the veg dogs are yucky. They have this gumminess and a strong after taste.

I like smart dogs with some tofutti american cheese and some annie's ketchup on ezekiel bread. You can buy smart dogs at wal-mart in the produce section

I have found that grilling hotdogs DOES NOT WORK. They get charred and are weird and disgusting (and I've tried almost every brand out there!). I don't think I have a favorte, mostly because I didn't ever really like hotdogs to begin with.

We usually get the Yves Good Dogs or the Yves Meatless Hot Dogs.  I'll pretty much eat any of the vegan hot dogs.  I used to buy the Smart Dogs.  However, my nonveg boyfriend really likes the Yves brand, and I prefer that he eats these rather than the real deal (he's been known to eat convenience store/gas station hot dogs--eeww gross, I know).  By the way, I think these Yves dogs are best when sauteed in a skillet with a little oil until nicely browned.  I don't know that any vegan hot dogs hold up to campfire grilling on a stick.

I'll second that. Have it with a nice sourdough bun and chopped up veggies, onions, mustard and ketchup and (to me) it tastes just like a hotdog. (except better... I remember real hot dogs smelling way better than they ever tasted, and these ones tend to actually live up to the smell.)

i loooove the yves good dogs... i bake em in the toaster oven for maybe 10 minutes (at about 400 degrees), turning every now and then. also love them in this recipe: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=14815.0
