More good energy needed....

My BF is going in for another Dr appointment today to find out if he needs surgery on his Cervical spine. I don't have time to go in to the details now but about 6 months ago he was in a serious accident and has gone through several surgeries. We have gotten mixed opinions about a surgery needed for C1-C2 and we are hopping that between todays meeting and one next Wednesday we will have some good news. It's been a long few months. Thanks for the positive energy guys.

Much positive energy coming your way from me! :-)

Sorry it has taken me a while to respond besides doctor appointments it was also finals week at school and I found out last minute that I had to write a new exam from scratch. I'm still a bit delirious and emotionally exhausted from the whole week.

To answer the question though no it wasn't good news. A bit worse than we thought the 'bad news' would be be. The surgery is definitely needed and may also include fusing the scull. He might also have to go into a halo before the surgery for some time to get better healing of the C1. Fusing the scull, C1,and C2 would basically eliminate all rotation in his neck :'(  A C1,C2 fusion would only eliminate about 45% of rotation which is about what he has now anyway. We are meeting with one more doctor next Wednesday to get his opinion.

Lauren, sorry I haven't gotten back to your email yet. I will be dealing with emails sometime this weekend. I know there are a bunch in there I don't want to respond to so I haven't opened it in a couple of days. I will try to get to your's soon though.

Thanks for all of the positive energy from every one!!!!

Please what is the gentleman's name? I know God knows who he is but I would feel more comfy having a proper noun to pray by...

My thoughts and prayers are going out to both you and Keith!  Please keep us posted as now we are all concerned, as this board is like one big family.

BTW, what is your name?  Mine is pretty easy to figure out.  All you have to do is add "ane" to the end of my name.

Try and keep your spirits up.  We are all there for you!

Thanks so much, I will keep you informed. My name is easy too. First  name last initial. Taneva B. This is the first board I have ever been a part of and it has been really nice to get to know every one.
This winter has been pretty rough since we haven't been able to get out of the house and be social much. The weather has made it particularly hard to get around with keiths limitations. He has been walking again for a few weeks now and is getting a lot stronger. The whole process has been one step forward and two steps back. Every time we think that all of the surgeries are over the doctors find something else.  :(

E-mails should be the last thing on you're mind.  Just try to focus on you and your BF's health and happiness.  I'm sure things will start to look up soon.  Until then, you both will be in my thoughts.

It's been a couple of busy weeks and I am exhausted but I wanted to give an update. I appreciate all the prayers and good energy. He has had 3 doctor appointments, a catscan, ex-rays, and an MRI. One Dr. wants to wait 3 months to decide on surgery for his neck, the other two want do surgery immediately :-\. The doctor who wants to wait feels that there is enough scar tissue built up to protect his neck. For now we think that we will go with the more conservative view. I am just nervous driving with him because a simple fender bender could be fatal.

The femur, pelvis and R foot all look really good on the newest ex-rays though and walking is coming along. We took our first walk around the block on Tuesday in 7 months and Keith actually went grocery shopping w/ me today :) Maybe I'll get a break from doing all of the dishes here soon ;) Then again maybe not, he is a guy after all.

thanks again for all of the well wishes.
