Epilator

I'm thinking of getting an epilator....
questions:
1. which one is the best? in terms of pain and also results? I'm looking at the emjoi, but not sure.. it seems like a good price too
2. where to buy? I live in nyc, so I'm sure there has to be one I can go to physically as opposed to buying online.

I just ordered one from amazon. Its like $60 but I'll let you all know how it works once I get it! Cause you know I'll be using it that day!!!
I shave my armpits and even right after I shave it doesn't look like I have because you can still tell there are dark hairs under the skin. I think they need to be yanked out. Would it be better to wax them though?
This. I hate this. I have the lightest skin and the darkest hairs. And it always looks like i havent shaved. I'm trying to find the perfect method. What i really want is laser hair removal or something. Ugh, stupid expensive things sounding so good.
On the other hand, my hair is blonde, so I can never have laser hair removal. It doesn't work on blondes. Sooooo. :(

i have that problem, too, with my hair growing so fast and you can see the dark hairs under the skin.
i have pretty light hair naturally (somewhere between dark blonde and light brown). my hair on my arms, tummy, back and such is all clear, but my legs, armpits, and bikini area grow the thickest and darkest hair and it grows FAST! i got my daddy's fast growing german hair. :) but :(
my daddy shaves his face in the morning and by lunch time he has to shave again because he looks like he hasn't shaved in a week. i'm the same way, except fortunately not on my face!
I have to shave EVERY day, my hair grows mad fast. Its disgusting. And i've shaved like my whole body since i was like 12 or 13, and i would like shave my stomach even, so now i have dark hairs growing there.. bleh. So gross. I'm mostly german so i guess that could be part of it.. hah.
And i have insanely sensitive skin thats bothered by shaving. stupiddd hair/body.

ahh, unfortunately my order got cancelled from amazon because it was a backorder! i'm going to try again today so I'll link later if I can find the same one!!

I saw an emoji like, mechanical tweezer thing at bed bath and beyond. I think its like an epilator just smaller? Idk.
But i think they used to have actual epilators, like, by the hair dryers and things. Even though i'm late on ideas of where to look, i was just excited that i saw one and could share. haha.

This one I got in the mail yesterday and tested out this morning. Unfortunately my leg hair isn't long enough since I just shaved yesterday, so I tried it on my armpits.
If this is what a tattoo feels like, then I am not scared to get a tattoo anymore! Its a slight pinch. Weird thing was that my left armpit didn't feel as bad as my right one..
It does a good job grabbing the hair too! Wow, I must say. But it is tricky on the armpit.. like on the mound areas, it really takes some tugging and pulling of skin so that sucks. I might just epilate as much as I can then shave the rest.. then at least the hair under the skin won't look as bad.
It stung a little putting on my crystal deodaraunt but that was expected. If I scrub too hard in the shower it does that too. And that hurt worse than the epilating process.
Pretty good... let's see if it works nicely on my legs in a couple of days (and I'll keep you posted on the bikini area too, haha)
Oh and for those interested in the laser hair stuff, this epilating feels almost identical to what you'd feel doing that... at least what I felt. There were even times when it felt worse than epilating.
So that's a plus for those that feel no pain!
I think I need an epilator. I'm sick of my facial hair.

I am trying to buy an epilator too but I went to Wallgreens, CVS Pharmacy and Duane Reade and they don't have any!! I live on Manhattan so can't get to a Walmart so where did you girls find yours?

I got the emjoi one. Its good. I really like it on my underarms, but its tough to get all the hairs.
Same for the legs.. it would take forever, so I'm keeping it up for every couple of days until its just alittle touch up every so often..... we'll see though haha.

I have one made by Braun that I got at Bed, Bath and Beyond. No one else mentioned that brand so I thought I would. I love mine and it's not the most expensive one they have which is nice. It also comes with different heads so you can get more used to it - like a beginner head to experienced. 4 stages. Anyway, I didn't like using it the first couple times cause my legs never felt as smooth as they did for waxing. But this last time around I put the cooling gel on afterwards that I normally do for waxing and my legs feel great! So I'm going to keep up on the epilating again.
BTW - that Epilady looks scary!
I still use my epilator for my underarms... its soo nice. Haven't shaved them for months now!
I don't use it on my legs cause I got the worse prickly feeling when I'd get cold (goosebumbs? hair trying to break out of skin?) so I don't use it on them.
Can't really get it to work on the curve of the bikini area so gave up on that idea! lol.
I've sissied out a lot when trying to use mine on my underarms. I'll try and then freak out so i only get a little. But i refuse to like, not shave for more than one day. Darn my lack of patience.
