You need to sign your cell phone up on the do not call list otherwise they can spam text/call all they want.
Thanks Mirrya - good to know. I assumed that cell phones could not get that, only land lines.

just before I left the uk, I got a picture message from someone (my phone was not set up for picture messaging) and then a text asking if I liked his penis. I didn't reply....so he texted again asking if 'Sarah' liked his penis. replied saying I wasn't 'Sarah'.
I got a really really apologetic text back apologising for his small penis and that he'd sent me a photo of it. I laughed (and wished I could have seen the photo he sent to see if it was small!). He sent me another couple of texts that day apologisng profusely. Then I left the country so I don't know what happened after that.
Not really relevant to the thread but talk of spam texting reminded me of it.

You need to sign your cell phone up on the do not call list otherwise they can spam text/call all they want.
They take the numbers right from the Do Not Call list. They've been having a big problem with that.
Yeah because the law only applies to operators in the US. We get this here in Spain all the time. The call centres are in Latin America somewhere, calling here, so the European legislation doesn't apply to them. And they have Internet phonelines so it's not costing them anything.
There's a new twist here where you pick up the phone and you hear a phone ringing as if YOU were making a call. Yeah, and if you wait long enough for someone to "answer" it, you get stuck paying for the long-distance call, at premium prices.
