very interesting

I just recently switched to a complete vegan diet and i did it not for animal rights but because it is so much of a healthier lifestyle, but i must say that while searching for this site i came across a link to PETA site and watched a vidio on how the animals are raised and killed for there products. i have to say i have never been more disgusted in my life. I feel like throwing up. I can not believe that the cattle that is USDA approved was eat up with cancer and all kinds of other diseases. I can not convince my family that vegan is a healthier lifestyle but as for me, no more cancer meat.

yeah...its pretty terrible....I felt like Id been lied to my whole life when I first saw teh truth of what happens...

its disgusting how we can treat living breathing things in this world

but in a way it makes sense, when so many people lack compassion for other humans suffering, so who could expect them to have it for animals (which most deem inferior creatures)

i just think of it as out of sight out of mind

we dont see the slave labor/child labor/conditions that help produce our cheap wares that we buy from our local mega conglomerate stores....and we dont see the pain and suffering and conditions for the animals that are served to us  in forms no one even associates really with a living thing

I could not say it better Adamcrisis! The way we treat animals is horrific at best. It saddens me me everyday and it is what keeps me eating my vegi's! I don't think i could ever go back to eating meat after my "animal cruelty awakening". I used to think the people at PETA were extreamist and slanted their campaigns, but I now know that not only are they speaking absolut truths, but those eople are putting themselves in extream danger for all of us to understand waht is really happening in our world!

Lusinw8, if you found PETA interesting, you should check out a group called the SHAC 7, they are currently all in prision for speaking out abou a company how willing admits they slaughter 500 animals per day (cats, dogs, monkeys, ect) as part of their animal testing. they have a website and several myspace pages, they really need our suppor right now!

Since you're just recently switched and are interesting in converting your family, you might want to join the "Transitioning to Vegetarianism" group at Yahoo Groups.  I founded the group and a lot of vegwebers belong there to.  I am *not* suggesting that you stop posting here but that you might pick up tips and ideas from the discussions going on to help teenagers convert to vegetarians.  Some of the tips to convince parents that they aren't going to kill themselves by becoming veg*n might be used to convince children and husbands that it won't kill them and will actually make them healthier and happier.

Hey TinTexas, I just tried to join your yahoo group- I like the idea of screening people so that you don't get trolls, but PLEASE let me in!  :)
