VCTOTW at my local library!

Yay! I walked into my local library to pick up a good novel and saw on their display about summer cooking and different cookbooks they suggested was placed, prominently, Isa's vegan cupcakes take over the world book which made me incredibly excited. I live in a tiny town in New Hampshire. I'm one of two vegans I know at my school (and with only 900 kids I'm pretty sure it's only us) and she's VERY new to being vegan and three years younger than me. Most people don't even know what the word means when I mention I'm  vegan and so it was incredibly exciting to see the book displayed (along with a variety of other vegetarian based cookbooks).

hooray for small towners opening their minds:)

Owalkerjillo,

Find out if you can make "book requests for purchase" at your library.  I did and my library bought VCTOTW and VWAV!!  I was the first to borrow them and crack the spine (and get flour and sugar on the pages!!)

That's great!  I live in what I consider to be a very conservative area (others may call it middle of the road).  My library has a large selection of vegan cookbooks.  It's very exciting and counter-intuitive to what I'd expect.  I checked out VWAV so many times, I ended up just buying a copy.

thats awesome!!! i would definitely want to buy an isa chandra book BUT, 1. I'd probably be eating so much good stuff that i'd put on 2902902 pounds, 2: I'm broke, and 3: i can't order anything online.  :-\

i wish that my library would do something like that.

I can't buy the book for you, of course, but Issa has a website where she's posted some of her recipes.  I have the cookbook Vegan with a Vengeance and if you can get a look at the table of contents (maybe on Amazon) and decide what you want to make, send me a private email.  Look back to the Ping Kryskagan thread and you'll figure out how in two seconds.  Maybe someone else with the Cupcakes book can hook you up there.

i love you t!!!!  :D and yes i remember from one of these threads it's t_in not tin.  ;)

But I use something totally different from TinTexas for my yahoo account so do go look in that thread because I really don't want to nearly give it out again!  You'll have some pieces to string together to make my addy.

My library has the sarah kramer books and vwav and vctotw but they are always checked out.

I just ended up buying them all at local bookstores.

hmmm, i will have to check out my library's cooking section.  i have a library problem though, i can never turn books in on time.  i live three blocks from the library and i can never turn in books on time, how sad is that?

I can't return books on time, either, and  I work a block from the library.  I gave up on the self-incrimination and now consider it a rental fee.  :)

Most libraries have a way for patrons to request titles for purchase. Check into that. They will also place it on hold so that you are the first person to get to use it when it gets to the library.

VWAV has been on my library's coming soon list for several months. I  think that when it finally comes in, I'll have to stand in line fora while. Oh well, maybe it will prompt the library to buy some more copies!! ;D
