Yeah, I know. It's Jif. No one likes Jif. But still, it's kind of an awesome contest, with a lot of vegan entries. Except a few people submitted peanut butter chicken sandwiches, which is really gross.
I think I might try to make a few of these. They're cute!
I was all excited to veganize the meatball sub but then I realized the are chocolate-rice krispy concoctions that are supposed to look like meatballs. :D
Those are cute, it reminds me of when people make tofu pups look like an octopus
You know, I bet if you made the P-Nutty Chicken Wrap with Morningstar Chik'n strips, it would taste pretty good.
Neat! Reminds me of when my mom used to cut my sammiches with cookie cutters to make them more fun to eat.
I'll have to try some of these too!
;D
taking advantage of a rare PB&J-related conversation...
To settle an ongoing dispute: does anyone else eat PBB&J??
as in, putting a little margarine (or butter, if that's how you roll) on the bread before putting your PB and J on..?
tell me I'm not the only one who only eats it this way :err:
my bf has a serious love for PB and thinks my pbbj is heresy.
Has anybody tried peanut butter and pickled mango relish/chutney sandwiches? Really good! Also, hummus and mango relish pita sandwiches :D
I have a serious love for hot picked mango relishes and chutneys though ;)

I'm SO glad you eat PBBJ's. I absolutely love peanut butter and butter. I used to eat them all the time. Although I am not much of a "J" fan (be it jam or jelly), so I eat PBB's. Seriously, they taste like a peanut butter cookie. You're not alone, nuchita!

I agree...yum, I am going to have to try that soon!
When I was younger I used to eat butter & jam sandwiches. They rocked.
Enjoy your PBB&J sammies if you like em! Its all yummy.
I always loved fluffer nutters when I was little - PB and marshmallow creme. I need to get some vegan creme so I can make them again!
One of my recent faves is PB and raisins. I also want to try PB and dates sometime.
I haven't eaten a pb&j for at least a year..man, I miss those things. My favorite used to be to just mash up whatever fruit we had as my own little homemade jam thing. It sounds healthier in my head

My BF butters his PB&J, I think it is a little indulgent, but not bad tasting.
Hey what do people in Europe eat for the 'pb' part? I have seen a lot of nutella and very pricey peanut butter...do you just break down and buy the expensive stuff or is there a better solution? I like to eat PB&J as a cheap lunch, but it seems like 'cheap' may no longer be part of the equation in Sweden.
We have normal peanut butter over here, and it isn't ungodly expensive. But its not Jif, its a more natural kind. It took me awhile to get used to it, and I still kind of prefer the creamy stuff that my mom brings over sometimes, but peanut butter is really big over here.
Then again, maybe that's just in the Netherlands? I always saw it in Belgium too, but I wouldn't know about Sweden. Everything is more expensive there though...

i don't know if they have anything like skippy natural over there, but you would love it. it does have some added sugar so it's not as natural as the ones whose ingredient list consists of peanuts & salt, but it has the texture of the the peanut butter that most of us grew up on without any hydrogenated junk. it is addictively good.

I think you might be stuck with nutella, or "regular butter(y spread)", my friend from Ireland had never had peanut butter until he moved to the states, he would just have butter and jam sandwiches. You could always try to make your own if you have a good blender (I made some in a magic bullet once, and those aren't too expensive)
Speaking of Nutella....
Does anyone know where I can buy a vegan chocolate spread that tastes similar to the stuff Nutella makes?
I don't know of any Nutella-like spreads that you can buy, but there is a recipe in Veganomicon for "Not-Tella." It looks pretty simple.

theres also a recipe for it in The Joy of Vegan Baking that looks even easier than the Vcon one.
