New Years Resolutions
Don't usually go in for those as when I did I never kept them up and things I have given up, I gave up out of the blue and kept to them. But his year I am going to give myself a few and see how we go, so here they are:
1. Make a new recipe once a week.
2. Buy nothing new (aside from food and fuel, and grundies (if I need new ones next year)).
3. Make (and use) at least one raised vegetable plot.
4. Volunteer at the local dog shelter after I take my GMAT exam at the end of January.
5. Get out and about more and meet more people (have seen a hiking club I am going to join in the New Year).
6. Read 25 books of least which 10 are thought provoking and not just a fun thriller or mystery.
7. Reduce liquor consumption to a case of Heineken or 6 bottles of wine a month (or a combination of both).
#2 is the one I am keenest to achieve and will track the closest, #1 is the one I think will be the hardest.
Anyone else got any?
1. More vegweb.
fixed. (:
be 100% vegan. still transitioning back from my evil ovo-lacto ways of the past 7 months, blegh
work out at least 4 days/week at the gym on campus, ie get less fat.
get A's in skool
smoke no more than 1 cigarette per day. (pref after a big meal or sex, or in the bath)
fall in love
The main thing I want to change is to budget--not really a new years resolution, as a "starting next term" resolution, with next term happening to start next year.
I also only wear 4 pairs of pants, even though I have three more that more or less fit me. I just can't make myself get rid of them. I'm glad I'm not the only one! ;)b
ok, you only have 4 extra pairs of pants. I have about 70 extra pairs. no lie. I think you are doing OK. I dont even like clothes that much. wtf?
Okay, I'll bite. I think next year won't be able to top this year since 2008 was a HUGE year for me. I got pregnant - unplanned - freaked - made an appointment to get an abortion - then cancelled because something inside was telling me not to go through with it - then I was going to adopt - then not - then give custody to baby's father after he is born - then I saw baby move in an ultrasound - I flipped out - then I started to feel him kick inside as my belly got bigger - I fell in love with this unborn baby - told daddy I wasn't going to give him up - gave birth - freaked out again - then fell head over heals in love - found true happyness and contentment in my beautiful, wonderful baby boy.
No, I doubt 2009 will beat that. But I get to see my son's first step, first birthday, maybe hear his first word. I expect 2009 to be a wonderful year.
Resolutions:
- get a job! I have been unemployed for a month, but I haven't worked for 4 months. I have to go back to work, it will break my heart to put my baby in day care though. But I have to work, I am a single mom. Daddy isn't a whole lot of help, he ran away like a coward and now I have to sick the law on him to get him to contribute anything to his son.
- loose some weight. I am doing that already. I joined the YMCA, Mikey goes in daycare for an hour while I work out. I love it. Between that and breastfeeding, I have lost 12 pounds now since his birth. I was at 205 just before he was born at 39 weeks pregnant. Then right after giving birth I was at 185. Now I am down to 173 and the scale is going down.
-eat more vegan
snow queen!!! i didn't realize you had a baby!! i remember when you found out you were pregnant, and then i was not on vegweb for a while.
congratulations on being a strong and loving mother!

3. eat more raw
4. drink more water
5. quit smoking
6. try yoga
7. finish learning to crochet
8. stop spending so much money on stuff we don't really need.
9. stop eating out so much...damn thai food....
10. find out what is wrong with my daughter's nose
11. pay off some credit cards
12. find a house to BUY... i am sick of living in an apartment (this will only happen if #1 and 11 happen)
13. find ways to be a better mom/wife/daughter/friend...
14. convert ONE person to the veg way of life
15. get a dog (when we get a house)
there is SO much i want to do! i feel like this year was pretty good, but i know next year could be way better...all i can do is try! :)
9. stop eating out so much...damn thai food....
make the pad thai recipe off this site! seriously - it's soooooooo good. whenever i think about ordering thai takeout from down the street i just remember that it is so easy and cheap to make at home and can't bring myself to shell out the 8 bucks for it.
i think ill have to make it again soon!

I have five pairs of pants. I was down to three, but I work four days a week and my co-worker notices such things, so I upgraded. I have a different pair to wear each workday and a pair to wear when I do laundry (I have to go to a laundromat).
1. More vegweb.
fixed. (:
;)b ;)b ;)b
Fun fun!! :smileteeth:
1) Continue working out/running...but MORE!
2) Run this: 3/1/09 6:13 AM 13.1 Marathon Miami (Miami - Miami Beach)
3) Apply for admission to school for online learning
4) Loose 7-10lbs
5) Save more $$$
6) Appreciate little things more & learn to slow my anger
9. Stop my secret bad habit. :-X
Curious!
The only goal that I have for 09 is to get to a healthy weight. Every other goal or plan in my life is for... life. Not just this year.
Ok I am in the overconsumption of clothes club also.
My problem is most of my clothes are from my heavier days and are very big on me.
So I need to get rid of those and get more that fit.
Love thrift shops. Why spend $30 or more for one shirt when you can get like 6 at Salvation Army for $30
I have to wear a shirt and tie most of the time for my job.
Thankfully someone on Freecycle gave me 40 ties to go with the 3 dress shirts that fit me properly.
For New Years resolutions I don't really set any.
I have some short term goals for the year.
1- Overcome my social phobia this one is more of a long term goal
2-Accumulate more wealth this year. As my one friend say I like to collect money.
I don't spend hardly anything.
3- Continue with learning to eat healthy. More raw foods will help this along.
4- Continue my studies so I can get out of this retail work
5- Build my new house- This is a carry over goal also. Not enough money to do it in 2008
Been waiting a long time to burn the old house.
1. Less vegweb.
ahhhhhhhhhh, oh no, why??!!
....show more self-discipline when it comes to some of my vices and live for each day more completely....start writing poetry again....appreciate the kindness in people instead of being fixated with the ugliness....that is all- good night.

ahhhhhhhhhh, oh no, why??!!
It's sucking my life force!
I would like to go vegan and get into shape. Like, into hardcore shape. Like Edward Norton or Brad Pitt in Fight Club.

Is Katie ready for that? ???
enjoy each day and love myself
Me too. I just want to keep doing what I'm doing and progressing how I've been progressing. Not look back except to draw on my experience and help others-- keep moving forward.

I guess that depends on how you mean...

I mean, all the attention you're going to get. She's going to have to fight the women off.
