Let's talk some more about tattoos, shall we?

I know we have threads, and I know we talk about them in different places, but......here we are.
Now that I just have touch ups left on my chest, I'm trying to decide what to get to cover up my little blip of a tat. on my hip. I think I want to get something that ties in with my chest piece.
eta: I deleted that creepy picture. It was just too creepy!
i want a dance tattooooooooooooooo. i've probably said this a million times on here
Ms. S_o_G - I love the idea!!
Ms. veganhippie - I think I'm missing something. What kind of dance tat?
i don't know. just something. preferably a hip-hop ish one because that's what i really love. but i'm just so not creative that i don't even know what i want it to look like.
The only answer is Ron Burgundy breakdancing as a full backpiece.
The girl with the Floyd text who wants to get mushrooms inked on her skin isn't into psychedelics? (Note to self: Do not ask Sea of Green if she wants to watch Scooby Doo cartoons with me)
As for me, the only tattoo that I would really consider getting that would have special meaning would be the emblem of Saudi Arabia (a palm tree over two-crossing swords.) because I used to live there. But as it stands, I can't get tattoos because I would end up with a Ghostbusters sleeve or the Stinky Cheese Man and those just don't seem like wise decisions. So I'll live vicariously through others ink!
hahahaha.... I constantly contradict myself.
I'm afraid of the stinky cheese sleeve syndrome as well.
How are you doing, Heli?
The biggest scabs have *cough*been picked*cough* come off, and it's all a bit dry and puckered in very fine creases, but I assume they will smooth out as it settles in. I will definitely need to get it re-touched, mainly in the outline, coz some of that is grey like pencil-marks instead of the fine black line it's supposed to be. But I am getting used to having a thing on my arm ;D and I still love the greenness ;)b and I so want my next inkkkkkk! :D
I'm thinking of getting an arm band that says Vegan in it. I had my first tattoo removed, so i REALLY need to think this through. LOL!
This makes me have an inkling of an idea for a 'herbivore' tattoo... perhaps an armband!

Addictive, huh? haha

I love that. I love that time period after you get a tattoo when you have moments of WHOAH WHAT IS THAT ON ME. (I actually still do that sometimes with ones I've had for a while. Haha)
I know this seems pretty basic, but would anyone care to explain the allure of tattoos? I really am interested because as they have become more and more popular over the years, I missed the whole thing. I just dont get it and would truly like to hear from those who have some.
A few years ago a buddy (who has his whole back tatted) and I were out drinking. He gets into a discussion with a hot woman about their respective tattoos. The next thing you know he has his shirt off showing his back to everyone at the bar. The next thing you know after that, she has her pants down (true!) and is showing us her tattoos. That was the only time I saw a use or need for them.
I know I seem lame, but I am really curious why tattoos......

YES! I keep looking down at my foot and going WTF?! Sometimes it catches me off guard and I don't remember it. I'm sure I'll get over this come sandal season, but right now I still only see it a few times a day.

Not lame... you seem pleasantly open-minded! I've heard it said that the body/skin can be treated like a big blank canvas for the display of beautiful and/or meaningful patterns, symbols and designs. I have always liked this idea, and choose tattoo(s) which are close to my heart and my lifestyle in some way. It's a... slightly painful, and very permanent... means of expressing who a person is. Perhaps some folks get tats in odd places, or odd designs, because they want the attention it grabs - in an odd way, that in itself expresses who they are! ;D Yes, there are ugly tattoos out there - although beauty is totally subjective - but sometimes they're mistakes, and sometimes they're the expression of an unusual, perhaps aggressive person. I've seen many more lovely and intriguing tattoos than I've seen 'ugly' ones. :)
I love my first ink, and will get another (and another) just as soon as I can (1) afford it and (2) design it/them thoroughly.
Addictive, huh? haha
To coin a phrase... Well, DUH! :D
I just think tattoos are beautiful, and they are an outward expression of your truth as a person. I can represent who I am as a person on my skin. It's also a great way to start a conversation (as you learned!). I find them incredibly attractive--nothing is sexier than a guy with sleeves.

Got so many tats you can't even count 'em up in the shop every week I can't seem to get enough.
But for real, I'm getting another Mighty Mighty BossToneS tattoo soon.
