Ouch. From Hawaii to crazy weather. Some Chicago Diner food might make you feel better. :) Welcome to Chicago, crappy weather and all. We do have nice summers... ish.
Modify: Hey, Punk Mom: it says in your profile that you're looking for good places to eat. I don't live in the city, but a few places are: The Chicago Diner (YUM), Earwax (vegan friendly) and there are a few restaurants in suburbs near Chicago that I believe are also vegan-friendly. Where's propine when ya need her expertise?
FTR: I used an excessive amount of colons in that sentence above.

I'm in the west suburbs as well- Geneva/St. Charles/Batavia area. I could attempt to help. I know so little, but I get by. I don't eat out very much, but the Diner is AMAZING. Seriously. Awe-some.

Another Chicagoland dweller here!
I live in Glen Ellyn and have been here in IL for about 5 years now. On the whole I like it here but the weather between December and March can wear you down a bit, and it's a bit flat here too.
There are worse places to live.

I know, especially out by us. You're not super far from me, GESC- we take the same Metra- I get off at the Geneva stop. :)

I like to head to Geneva now and again, it's really nice at Xmas also. Someone in work told me there as a new tearoom opened up there so I plan on checking it out the next time I visit. When the weather gets better I plan on biking along the path from GE to Geneva.
Eating options are limited there though.

Yes, there is a new tearoom, although I have yet to check it out. My friend Jim wants to take me. I shall go and give you a report. It is really pretty down 3rd street with the lights and all. The large evergreen by the courthouse is all lit up and looks nice.

I live in Illinois! Near St. Louis though and nowhere near Chicago, much as I'd love to. Y'all should take a trip to the riverside.
