not that i have any problems with portion control or having to lose the ubiquitious *few pounds* no, no, no...but if i did....which i don't, but if i did...i might ask...
what food(s) make you feel full and satisfied to the point where you really stop thinking about food (sorry, "1/2 vegan pizza pie" while technically is an answer - wouldn't be the answer i'm looking for :D))
with me, i noticed that greens really do it for me, certain greens. if i tend to eat a fair amount of kale or collard greens - i seem to be full for a good part of the morning w/o thinking about food too much (i'm a bad one for eating out of boredom)
what are your "magic" cures?
Oatmeal for breakfast keeps me full until lunch.
Beans/lentils fill me up and keep me satisfied for a long time. Except I eat a lot of beans in one sitting...but they're healthy right? :)
I've just started eating oatmeal every morning and I had to cut the US "one serving" in half because it's too much. Delicious, but too much. I stir a teaspoon or two of natural unsweetened cocoa powder in when I add the sweetening after it's done.
portion control?
I'm not sure what you're talking about.....everything I eat ends up making me full....unless someone takes it away from me before I'm done eating....
thanks Erin, see my "1/2 vegan pizza pie doesn't count" comment in my original post :P
A GIGANTIC cup of coffee. (As in, 32 oz. of coffee, with soy milk and maple syrup. Hold the kittens.)

that kitten has crazy eyes. it's kinda creepy. i used to work at a record store and there was a woman who used to come in that had eyes like that, and the guy she came in with had a gigantic head. but he wore a hat. that kitten is giving me flashbacks.
You'd have "crazy eyes" too, if you were as small as that kitteh and had drunk all that coffee! :-D
Actually it looks like a bad, bad case of exophthalmia.
Or Photoshop, one.
Aww, is everybody down on my "special" kitten?
Also, PPC, that kitten can read your thoughts with its crazy eyes. It knows your secret dreams.
When I was young, "You know what" brought Nirvana.
But now,
A plate full of my fav food brings Bliss!! :)>>>
NJA
black beans & rice with some pico and salsa on top.. really filling and satisfying
I have a single serving hot water maker --> http://products.consumerguide.com/media/frontend/productImages/3/0/00000105630-SunbeamHotShotWaterDispenser3211-small.jpeg
I heat water in it and add it to my plain oatmeal. In about five minutes it's absorbed. Therefore, you only have a bowl and a spoon to wash. That fills me up until lunch, when I'll eat a whole can of beans over a prepackaged lettuce mix and a fruit or veggie side. For an afternoon snack I'll have fruit. I don't eat dinner because I get home too late. If you log it, even though you're eating large portions it's not way over on calories.
I'll also sometimes have malted barley "coffee" with unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
What I avoid are: refined sugar, sugar substitutes, caffiene, products made with flour, whole wheat or not (e.g., pasta and bread) and particularly starchy foods (e.g., potatoes and most grains).
A mixed-veggie green Thai curry over jasmine rice, with chunks of ripe avocado between rice and curry. Particularly with a few black olives scattered over the top. Blisss....
humboldt_honey,
I just finished reading a book on nutritional anthropology, and you eat exactly how the book says that the human body was designed to eat ;)b I've been trying to eat this way since reading the book, to see if I feel an improvement in my health.
Sweet! I used to eat a lot of pre-packaged meat substitutes. I had tried to get off refined sugar before, but I didn't manage it until after I got off processed foods. I've wondered if there's a connection. Being caffiene free and sugar free is tons easier when eating whole foods because I don't get cravings. I'm just satisfied all the time.
chocolate peanut butter, if i eat it after work i seriously don't even need dinner (and i get off work around 2).
peanut butter + maple syrup + cocoa = bliss.
