eww, we just had an earthquake!

grr, I hate earthquakes! It was super quick, but it was a 3.7, ick. ha, we thought one of our trees fell on the house.

They can be nervewracking.  We went through a big one when I was a kid in Alaska.  I think the aftershocked about sent my mom to the looney bin.  Glad you're o.k.

I've felt one little earthquake here.  It was maybe six or eight years ago, at night, and I woke up and was all confused.  Then I went back to sleep and forgot about it.  Later, people were talking about an earthquake, and I thought, oh! so that's what that was!  ;D

We have earthquakes a couple times a year (usually very small) and I never feel any of them. The only earthquake I have ever felt was the SF Quake of '89.

Haha.  Dude.  I think I felt that one in SC!  haha. Joking, but yeah, that was a big one!

But seriously, that was quite a year. We had Hurricane Hugo in '89.

I'm with you, Pink.  I'm not for earthquakes.  That might be because I'm a homeowner in the vicinity of the San Andreas.

Also, because I'm not stocked up on water and the essentials.  I keep thinking about buying more containers of water in case of emergency, but never do.  So, when the earthquake happens I'm going to be totally screwed and I'll have known better.  Trees will probably be in the road, so it's not like I could go somewhere and buy water, and if I could I'd probably be mugged for it anyway.  Ba humbug!

Since I'm ranting, I just paid $3.99 a gallon for gas.

I know!!! It hit $3.99 here last week. I remember I came home from work one night, and between then and the next night when I was driving home, no joke, it went up .17/gallon. I keep on seeing articles/stories on the news about the national average being $3.50/gallon. Um, where the heck is that!? Cause I was paying $3.50/g around Christmas time. Grrr.

well, right now at my work it's 3.47/gallon... it's been that way about a week, last week it went up almost 10 cents

There is one advantage to living in Texas, the oil is here.  I paid $3.45/gallon for my last fill-up Sunday.  But that's still too much.  Damn speculators are the ones driving the prices up and the big oil company executives go on tv with a big shit-eating grins and talk about the laws of supply and demand and how that they're making billions of extra profit is not their fault!  >:(

When I lived there it was $0.60 higher than anywhere else in the State.  It looks like it's so high everywhere else that we're closing the gap with you.

I thought it was the fault of the weak dollar because we pay what it's worth on the global market and our economy would get sand kicked in its face at the beach.  Frackin speculators and grinning execs.

Gas is about $3.30 a gallon here in AZ.  I don't have a car, so I don't really notice.  Not sure why our gas is cheaper here.  We ain't gots no oil here  ???

oh I'm sorry Pink, I'm glad it was short and that your tree did NOT fall on the house! Are you familiar with earthquake safety? like going into a doorway or under a table? There must be a website somewhere dedicated to educating ppl about it....its kinda cool that oktokrewl likes em.... cause theres not a thing we can do about it happening, so you might as well enjoy it when it does happen....erm....but Id still be really scared of them....When I was little my family went to Disneyland in CA and there was a huge earthquake! The Northridge? in like...was it 92 or 94??? Anyways bridges collapsed and everything. Our hotel room got a HUGE crack in the ceiling....and I....I slept through all of it! ha ha!

I slept through all of it!

I slept through a big earthquake when I was a kid.  My sister woke up and I was mad at my parents for years after that because they didn't wake me up.

On the other hand, whenever we had earthquakes during the day, my mom would send my sister and me to hold up the huge mirror over her huge dresser.  Looking back on it now, I don't think that was a health and safety approved activity.  I guess she was confident in our mad skillz.

VHZ - yeah that was the northridge earthquake.. that was the last real big one i was talking about hehe.. it was like our first night in our new house and we had a pool.. there were like tidal waves in it and half the water splashed out to fill our backyard.. it was pretty crazy.. our chimney also got a really big crack up the side of it, but luckily didnt fall on our house..

also about the crazy gas prices.. at least you guys arent here in the caribbean.. gas is $16 EC a gallon which is ~$6 US.. so be glad for that.. looks like its not too far away tho heheh.. man im glad i ride my bike and take trains/buses everywhere :devilwink:

Yeah, it's not quite that high here yet. it's still $3.89 and it costs me $80 to fill my tank up now.

lol

the only earthquake i remember having here in upstate ny is one that was so tiny it lasted maybe 2 seconds and not many people even felt it. the only reason i noticed was because i was at my computer desk in the basement and everything shook for a second. but that was at least 10 years ago

i could ride my bike to work to save gas but i'm afraid of it getting so hot in the summer. i usually get extremely dehydrated during the summer even though i drink lots of water. i heard McCain is trying to get the gas prices lowered but i won't hold my breath.. the economy is gonna be screwed though. gas prices keep going up and they expect to make huge profits this summer, but because of the high prices, people aren't going on vacations or trips as much to save the money. jokes on them i guess.... or not... they'll probably just raise it even higher to make up the difference  :P

Ack...earthquakes scare the bejeebers outta me! I'm glad you're O.K. and that it didn't do damage. I remember that big 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake! I was afraid to stay alone for the longest time after that.

I live just outside of St Louis Mo, and I didnt feel the one Fri morning at 430, but I did feel one of the aftershocks at 1045 that morning.  Then another one happend around 1230 Sunday night, but I didnt feel that one either.  If I am at work (which I was Fri morning and Sun night) I dont feel it, but if I am at home, I do, strange!!
