Arrrrgh!!! Why I am spending all my time on vegweb over the weekend....

Amazon has JUST NOW labeled my Harry Potter book as "Shipping Soon" and says I may not get it until July 26th (or later since APO delivery will take longer....) grrrrr
I cannot hear/see anything HP related!!!!!!!!
I don't want to know ANYTHING!!!!!
I even close my eyes when google news (my homepage) opens JUST IN CASE! I've been doing this for the last week.
I thought vegweb was safe... I had planned to spend all my time here over the weekend until it arrives.... but there is even a thread about it on here!!!!! I cringe every time I see it.... because what if I accidentally opened it.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  :'(
When book 6 came out it was the same day DH was going back to Iraq after his 2 week R&R and I sat in the airport and fidgeted because I could see the airport bookshop had copies for sale... he finally said, "Oh, just go BUY it!" So I read it while we waited for his plane.....
I tried!!!! But see that is how addicted I am. It's terrible. *sigh*
I probably won't even recheck this post IN CASE anything about the book gets posted... I can't take any chances.

To make you feel better, the thread on here has no spoilers. No one in there has read it yet. We're all just talking about how excited we are to finally read it. Oh, and some of us are gushing about how hot Severus Snape/Alan Rickman is.

Ok, maybe I'm the only one who used the word "hot."  ;) But, some of us are rooting for him as the good guy.

I pre-ordered mine, and it's supposed to be here today. So, I'm just waiting for the UPS truck. He better get here soon! When Book 6 came out, I had to wait 6 months to read it. I was in Europe, and couldn't find a single English copy. I avoided all things that could spoil it for me as well.

That's my problem as well!!!! I didn't realize amazon would take so long to ship it. I was under the impression it'd be here today or Monday at the latest!
I could go get a copy (if they haven't sold out) at the english bookstore but I don't want to take the chance of hearing about it from people there... I know that's lame. Also, if I did that, in the end I'd have 2 copies...
But I'm glad no one had read it in the other thread... maybe I'll check it out now...ACK  but I'm still scared.  :-\

I think Amazon gives you the option to cancel, as long as it hasn't yet been shipped. So, you could get some ear plugs and pop off to the english bookstore and grab a book. That's what I would do. I hate waiting!

And, yes, the other thread is totally fine. I'm the last one who posted in it, I think, and there are zero spoilers.

Well I just tried.... I called and they DO have copies! But they said they close in 15 minutes and I'm 30 minutes away. I think I will cancel with amazon though and go get it tomorrow morning. I can't wait.

Sorry - I'm the one that started the other thread. I was just so excited about getting my book and I wondered if anyone else felt the same. I do like Ecstatic's idea of having a discussion when we've all finished reading it.

I read all the time, but I've never read any of the Harry Potter books. After seeing the latest movie, I want to read the series for that big, crazy ending. Oh man, I'm excited just thinking about it

wow, i didn't realize anyone else felt the same way.
i pretty much refuse to buy books just because i don't actually need them and it is just more stuff (and being a student who move every year makes you NOT WANT STUFF) so i just ordered it from the library (even thought the waiting list was 300 people) figuring oh well i can wait a few weeks i have waited this long already and at first it was fine but now i am VERY VERY afraid that someone/something will ruin it for me.
people should only talk about it in private convos. without anyone else around.

yeah, I actually got a copy last sunday. i finished it in 24 hours.  :-X  i won't say anything else.  ;)

I buy books and give them away. I hope the person i give it to reads it and gives it to someone else. I think that's what a book is for.
there are a few I hang on to of course, mostly cookbooks :)

I do this too. Sometimes as Christmas/Birthday presents. Or else I'll buy a book specifically for someone else & read it before giving it to them.  ;D My husband thinks this is very funny, like I am breaking some kind of ettiqutte rule by giving used books as gifts. Usually I tell the person that i read the book & thought they would like it, I just don't specifically say I read that actual copy  ;D
