I agree, but I do like that they're a yummy vegan option if I'm in a huge rush or want to go out to eat... :) And I also used to dislike that they're owned by McDonald's--I still don't like it--but McDonald's pretty much just invested some money to make the chain a lot larger & more accessible to people, and they've been very hands-off since. I don't love chains in general, but we're going to see them, so there might as well be cool restaurants like Chipotle that are at least a little more ethical...

Chipotle is now a publicly traded company, so they're owned by the shareholders. But McDonald's could still be a big shareholder, who knows. Ever notice how half the population pronounces it like "Chipotle" and the other half like "Chipolte"? :) I try to avoid saying it for fear that I'l say it the wrong way ;D

Oh, man... Pronouncing it like "Chi-POL-tee" is one of my pet peeves! I never correct people for fear of sounding like I word snob, but I cringe inside every time someone says it like that! ;D

I used to looove chipotle - one of the only "fast food" type of places where you don't have to special order stuff for it to be vegetarian. However, my new apartment is right above a chipotle, and the smell is starting to sicken me. We share a back door with them, where they take out their garbage, and it constantly smells like raw meat :-\ Yuck! I don't think I can eat there anymore.

If anyone goes to Syracuse, (NY) there is a mexican place called Alto Cinco that has the best burritos, and especially the best guac I've ever tasted, and I've had burritos all over the world. In my opinion their food blows Chipotle's stuff out of the water.

I heartily agree that Burritoville is better (and MUCH cheaper! FREE CHIPS AND SALSA!) than Chipotle, although I like both. I miss Burritoville...the one I used to go to on the upper west side closed.... :'(

McDonald's sold it's stock in Chipotle, so you don't have to feel like you're supporting the golden arches when you eat there.

I am not a huge fan of chipotle. The burritos are okay at best (the burrito bowl is the only thing really worth getting), but everything is so salty! I don't know, I know lots of people jock this place but it just doesn't do it for me. *shrug*

Yesterday was my first time eating at Chipotle and all I can say is: WOW, that's one ginormous burrito!! I could only eat half of it. I loved their spicy red sauce and the guacamole was almost as good as mine....almost.

Chipotle is an okay fast option, though I'd take just about anything over it. It's a good place to go with my husband (AKA the bottomless pit) when we're out shopping or something like that.
But if you want something really sobering, check this out:

True, the fact that we wouldn't do cheese/sour cream/meat helps a lot, but still, DAMN!

That calculator is awesome!
More places need to have something like that...
haha, I'm fine with eating 150 calories of their guacamole :)
That calculator is great. Black Bean burrito with salsa on a 13" tortilla is 430 calories. That's what I usually get and I'm happy with that.
