Yabbit do you just buy the miso in a bottle that is sold in the international aisle?
In a bottle? :o Never heard of that. For me, "miso" is a very thick paste you buy in a tub or jar. "Thick" like peanut butter or soft margarine. The tub kind (red or white miso) is sold in the cold case and they suggest you keep it in the fridge. The jar kind (mugi miso, made from barley) the jar isn't even sealed and you can keep it on the shelf. I get it at the Asian market.
Hatcho (red) miso is waaay salty and I bought about half a pound and am stuck with something I don't like very much!! Because it was also waaaay expensive and I can't see tossing it!
So this weeks, item can be had for a replacement meal as I've noticed many people have them for breakfast or can be had for dessert or anything in between... unfortunately I've only tried one recipe and although it was good I can't remember which one it was sorry? :-[
Whats your favorite Smoothie/Shake recipe?
Good choice of topic! I approve!
I have a smoothie pretty much every week day for breakfast. I almost always use banana to give it creamyness and thickness.
Recently I have been having strawberry, banana and spinach. Yummers (although looks a bit brown!)
Another good addition is tahini - just add a tablespoon or 2 to a smoothie and it gives it a great flavour. I can't even remember why I first did that but OMG lovely.
1 frozen banana + 1 cup chocolate soy milk + 1 tsp coconut extract + a couple cubes of ice and maybe a bit of stevia powder = Heaven in a cup :)>>>
So, I was wondering what would be good to do for this week... and then I thought what was something I really wanted to try but haven't yet and then it came to me, Tofurky! So if you would please post your favorite mock turkey recipe! ;)b
i really liked the recipe on the vegandad blog for a turkey flavored seitan log that you can slice up for sandwiches or cut into chunks and add to recipes. it was pretty simple and really delicious.
Can someone post a link to the vegandad thing b/c I tried to find it earlier but couldn't.
So, I went to an Asian Market and picked up some Soba noodles and they are delicious but I've only put some Braggs on top...
So what is your favorite way to eat soba?
Here's the turkey lunch meat if you still needed a link:

Hmm..maybe soba noodles in a soup? OH. Tofu wraps! Sautee or bake some tofu with chopped mushrooms, garlic, ginger, braggs/soy sauce, make a peanut sauce (pb, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, a little vinegar, a little sugar, a little soy sauce), then make the soba noodles and toss them with sesame oil. To assemble wraps, take a leaf of lettuce, smear with a little peanut sauce, top with some noodles, top with some tofu, shredded carrots, sliced green onion and cilantro, fold so everything isn't getting everywhere, eat! You could leave out the tofu and just do noodles, peanut sauce and veggies if you're feeling lazy.
ALSO I keep meaning to re-ask you for your address (I guess messages sent with friend requests don't save in the inbox..), but I always forget when I'm on facebook because I'm all "ooo someone has posted new pictures!" :p SO, if you could message me your address again that would be rad. (:
This week is brownies!!!

Agreed. I make them about once a month. And one of my (very omni) friends is always requesting them.
the recipe for fat free brownies is really good, probably not so fat free when I frost them though!
I was just given a waffle maker, so this week is:
Waffles, post your favorite waffle recipe ;)b
What is your favorite cake recipe? So far mine is the cocoa applesauce bread even though its listed in bread, also I really like the delicious apple cake.

The icing is a winner because it is tofu based and doesn't get all melty but still has a really good texture.
Luscious Coconut Bread is good too (it's one of those sweet breads that is more cake ish).

I'm sad no one posted for waffles. I bought a waffle maker from a junk store and haven't had a chance to try it out yet :(
For waffles I tried this recipe and it was really good and easy to make

Wow it has been a while! I've been neglecting this but I'm going to start it back up! This weeks item is:
Pizza!!!! :)>>>
My favorite way to make it is a spin off of the Fastest, Easiest Homemade Pizza Crust. Heres what I do (because I make it only for one):
100 grams whole wheat flour
4 grams baking powder
4 grams cajun seasoning
1/3-3/4 cup of club soda
110-115 grams hot mexican style tomato sauce (you could sub in pizza sauce here)
5 grams of Nutritional Yeast (I have used up to 10 grams, go to your taste)
Toppings of your choice
Pre-heat oven to 450 F. Mix together first 3 ingredients. Mix in the club soda (you will need more than 1/3 cup but I've never actually measured out the amount I use, I just go until the consistency is good). Put the dough into a pan (I use a pie pan) sprayed w/non-stick spray. Bake for about 10-12 minutes (10 if your dough is not really runny, if you add too much club soda it will be really runny and you will need to bake longer). While the crust is baking mix together the sauce of your choice and nutritional yeast. When the crust is done put on the sauce mixture and add any topping you choose (I usually don't add anything but I'm going to try crumbled tofu that has been marinating in my Good on ANYTHING Simple Sauce http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=32216.msg385956#msg385956 and/or peppers like jalepeno, bannana etc. Put back in oven for 25-27 minutes (depending on the crust). It may seem like a really long time to bake but if it doesn't bake long enough the dough won't be crispy but soft (see the Fastest, Easiest Homemade Pizza Crust page for some complaints) and will be hard to get off the pan as it will stick. If you time it right though it comes out nice and crispy and ohhh so good. Add a bit of hot sauce an you are done!
What do you do when you get a Pizza Craving?
I love veggie pizzas. I usually use broccoli, spinach, tomatoes (always tomatoes), and onions. Always topped with crushed red peppers. I'm not creative enough to make my own crust and sauce yet. Thanks for the ideas.
I love pizza, I make a crust kinda just by luck, (I should write it down sometime,) its with wwheat flour, cornmenal, and a little vital wheat gluten. Yummy! With pesto, marinara, artichokes, mushrooms, and shredded FYH or Daiya! (or homeade cheese mold.) As far as specific recipes, this is one of the first recipes off VW that I submitted to my recipe box, and the first homemade pizza dough I ever made, very easy

I also like the yeast-free crust from Where It All Vegan, which is more like a pastry then a crust.
