Easy, Yummy and Quick Pizza Crust

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup lukewarm water
    1 tablespoon yeast
    1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted vegan margarine (both work fine)

Directions:

Preheat oven 425 degrees Fahrenheit.  Mix the yeast with the lukewarm water until the yeast is dissolved. Let it stand for a couple minutes. Add the salt and vegetable oil/melted margarine. Mix. Add the flour, and mix. Roll out the dough. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes. Take it out and rub margarine over it.  Add toppings, and cook for 10-15 more minutes.

Makes: 1 serving, Preparation time: 10 minutes, Cooking time: 15-20 minutes

Easiest pizza recipe on here! FIVE STARS

Thank you so much for posting this recipe.  It really was everything the title said.  I just opened up a small can of tomato paste, watered it down and put a few herbs in and voila, under a minute was my sauce and then I just put on mushrooms.  The crust itself really is super-close to the real pizza crust (it might even be (maybe) marginally healthier).  I liked it because it was fluffy and super fast.  At first when I cooked it, I frowned at how light it was, wondering if it was fully cooked but when I tasted it, I had no doubts what'soever.  Absolutely excellent recipe!  Again, many thanks!!

This recipe is the absolute best ever! You deserve an applause. I was worried about missing pizza, but not any more.  Thanks for your great recipe,

LOVE IT!!  I made this last night and my pizza didn't last long!  This crust is definatly the BEST ever; don't let anybody tell you different cause its B.S.  *ANIMALS ROCK OUT*

So easy and tasty too!  But it did take me two tries to get it right, the first time I tried it I didn't roll the dough out thin enough, but the second time was perfect!  I made mine with kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, and garlic. YUM!

i love this crust!! im so glad that im not going to be missing out on the pizza that my non-vegan friend and i are used to making. we made this crust last night as an experiment and absolutely adored it. she didn't even mind that there was no cheese. definately YUM!

This was really good and so easy.  Its nice to have a recipe for pizza crust that doesn't require any rise time.  Now pizza for dinner can be a last-minute decision!

This crust is good made with white and whole wheat flours. But I'd have to say I like it made with white better Wink anyways great crust!!

Is nutritional yeast ok to use in this recipe?

Archived comment by: sUPERSTopp
no, you'll want to use bread type yeast to get the dough to rise. nutritional yeast won't make it rise, its a different thing. howe'ver, i often toss in all sorts of stuff when i make pizza crusts (herbs, garlic, etc) and i think nut. yeast would be a tasty addition for flavor...

This is the only pizza crust recipe I will use. Super quick and tastes great.

Thank you for the recipe, it was so good I even made bread sticks to go with the pizza and they were so good I had to make more the next day.

I made this for my wife, and a coupe of friends of ours...and let everyone make thier own pizzas...it was a great recipe and a fun way to have dinner.  Thanks for the recipe!

This recipe is great! I tried it today and the crust tasted yummy.  I used olive oil instead of regular vegetable oil and it made the crust taste like focaccia bread. I would definitely use this recipe again.

Yeah! Very nice, tried it tonight. Dont overcook! It is done before it looks done.

Question: Can someone who's made this recipe tell me how much dough it will make?  Is it enough for a pizza for 2?  Or is it more like personal pizzas? Thanks:) Carolina

Oh dang, nevermind.  I see now where it says serves 1. Oopsie...

Why add yeast to this? Theres no reason to! I love this crust, made it a few times with yeast before realizing there's no point. Tastes great without the yeast!

Archived comment by: brachypelmic
ha, you're right. why add yeast if there is no sugar for it to eat and rise with? The recipie I use is pretty much the same, but I also add a tablespoon of vegan sugar with the warm water/yeast and wait for it to get foamy before mixing it with the dry stuff.

Archived comment by: baypuppy
Sugar is not required in a recipe for the yeast to eat.  You can probably make the dough without the yeast for a flatter, Indian type bread, which is still probably very good.  But if you want it puffy, use the yeast.  Looking forward to trying this.  I LOVE baking all types of breads  ^________^

absolutely fabulous recipe!!! a million thanks! i followed it to a T and the pizza was delicious! i have on question: does anyone know if i can substitute whole wheat flour for the all purpose flour? my mother is on a diet and trying to stick to only whole wheat products. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Archived comment by: holycow
This pizza crust was so good that I made it twice tonight! The first time I added 1/4 cup too much flour, but it came out like a perfect thin crust pizza! The second time around I made sure to follow the recipe exactly, and it tunred out light and fluffy! Its so easy, yummy, and quick, that I'll actually look FORWARD to coming making dinner after a long day at work! Five stars!!

Archived comment by: veggievulture
Holycow: I have successfully made this crust with both whole wheat and white flours. It tastes best with a mixture (I use 1/2 cup whole wheat flour and 3/4 cup white flour). The 100& whole wheat crust has a nice flavour, but it is much denser and chewier.

Archived comment by: veggievulture
I read the recipe and thought to myself, Thats going to be too much food for me.  I halved the recipe and used applesauce instead of oil.  It was delicious, so I decided to make it again this morning.  I didn't have any yeast, so I put in some baking powder.  It turned out okay.

Archived comment by: malmi
Veggievulture: thanks for the tip! I tried it the mixture and it was fine but I definately prefer the 100% white crust in taste and texture! I'll just make pizza on WW pita for my mom Cheesy

This was GREAT! I tweaked the recipe a bit- doubling all the ingredients- except the yeast(I used 1 Tbspn + a little more) and added 1 Tbspn sugar. And I used all whole wheat flour- and it came superb! This is my official pizza crust from now on!

Archived comment by: blameItOnTheDog
I made the recipe a few nights ago and it was great.  I'm going to try again right now, but I'm going to add two tablespoons of sugar and see if the dough wants to rise for a little bit.

Archived comment by: karen'ttrouble
Absolutely delish! I thought this made too much so I cut it down. I didn`t even use all the oil and it was so light and tasty. I made it with peppers, onions, tomatoes and topped it off with Follow your heart Cheese.  Yummy!!

Archived comment by: michelle144
Hey Blameitonthedog or michelle144: you say you doubled everything except the yeast - how much dough did you get? I guess a better question would be how big was your pizza(s)? And Michelle, how big was yours after you cut the recipe down? Thanks for the help...I really wanna make this pizza crust but I want to make sure I have enough dough (but not too much ya know?)! Peace.

Archived comment by: moonshinecaroline
Moonshinecaroline...  I cut it down to a bit less than half and it came out about 7 inches- small and perfect for me.  The crust is the best I`ve ever made! I will try it out with whole wheat because I`m trying to cut down the amount of refined flour I eat-will try!

Archived comment by: michelle144
I'm not very good at cooking and this was the first recipe that i tried on this site.  This pizza crust is AMAZING!!!  When i first tried it it went a bit wrong but decided to try it again and it was totally yummy! I made it for my non veggie sister too and she loved it. Thanks so much for this recipe, i will be using it again!

I make this recipe all the time now.  it's wonderful, except it calls for too much salt.  I only use a couple of dashes now because I didn't like how salty it was at first.  now it's perfect!

This didn't work too well for me. Maybe it was because I substituted whole wheat pastry flour, but usually I have no problems using it. It was sort of dry and crunchy, not chewy like I enjoy my pizzas. I would try again, though, with all purpose flour.

amazing! My boyfriend and i have made it the last three weekends in a row. It is a great pre-race meal (we're on the track team). I double the recipe with 1 cup ww flour and 1 1/2 cups white flour, and 1 tablespoon sugar. Thanks so much.

Since some people said the crust didn't work with all whole wheat I instead did 1 cup of whole wheat pastry flour and the other quarter with plain white.  I also added half a teaspoon of sugar to see if it would do anything.  I'm not sure it affected the crust at all.  I found the dough was far too sticky with just the flour called for in the recipe, but maybe my water was too warm.  I ended up adding maybe another 1/4 - 1/3 cup whole wheat flour.  I added one tablespoon of Italian seasoning to the dough, and that made the flavor awesome.  I kneaded the dough for a minute or two, rolled it round, and braided the edge for a nice-looking crust.  In the end I got one 10" pizza from outer edge to outer edge with a 3/4" crust.  I didn't bother to put margarine on the dough after the first 5 minutes, but the crust turned out well in appearance and flavor nonetheless. Thanks for a great recipe!

So easy and fast and wonderful!  I also used olive oil and put a bunch of red pepper flakes and other herbs in with the dough.  It was fantastic!

I've made this is a few times and it's so good! the only thing is i felt like i needed to had more flour.   i usually add kalamata olives, pizza sauce, soy mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and morningstarm farms sausage crumbles (which taste exactly like sausage by the way and i highly recommend them) on top. yum!

This recipe is wonderful!  Cheesy

I use whole wheat flour when making this, and it turns out very well.

Alongside that, its very quick and easy... a plus for those with busy schedules (or who are just plain lazy... like me...  Tongue)

I was really, really skeptical of this recipe, but my boyfriend and I were starving, wanted lunch quickly, and had toppings on hand, so I tried it out. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. For the small amount of time invested, it's not a bad crust at all. It won't replace "normal" pizza crust (as in, one that requires kneading and rising) because those are better, but this one is great in a pinch. My only complaint is that it was more bread-like than crust-like. I doubled the recipe, used half white and half wheat, olive oil, and topped it with Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourmet Mozzarella cheese, veggie pepperoni, sliced mushrooms, and green olives. Yum! It made about a 14-inch pizza, and we have 3 slices left! Thanks!

I added a little vegan sugar to the yeast.  I also added about 1/4-1/3 cup of cornmeal to the dough to make it chewy and crisp.  Very good!

WOW!! I made an extremely nice thin crust pizza with this recipe, and my omni boyfriend requested that I make it again tonight! He said this is way better than any greasy takeout pizza. I think I found a great way to spice this up: 1 tsp each of dried basil and oregano added to the dough, a bit of extra flour (it is a little too sticky this way) and less salt and some replaced with garlic salt. I also used EB instead of oil. Stretch dough as thin as humanly possible and squeeze the outside into a crust. For toppings, i chop up equal parts orange bell pepper, tofurky italian sausage, red onion and toss with a lot of minced garlic in  olive oil,  add FYH Gourmet" Monterey Jack"(sooo good for pizza) and some basil on top. It is seriously good. (used AP white flour for this) Thank you SO much for the recipe.

This might be a silly question, but... what do I bake this on?   I don't have a pizza pan or anything.  Should what I used be greased, ungreased?   Thank you for your help.

I bake mine on a simple metal baking sheet and it's good every time, never used a pizza stone but I'd imagine it would work.

Luda Blue, the pizza could be baked on a pizza stone, if you have one and want to use it.

Easy, quick, and unbelievably delicious. I ended up using half whole wheat and half white, and it turned out perfect!
