Juno movie

I don't know if this thread should be here or there, but I thought the subject matter could turn controversial, so I put it here.

Has anyone seen this movie? I don’t get it. It’s supposed to be this great funny movie, but the main plot is about teenage pregnancy. This seems like a serious issue to me, not something that should be made light of. I just don’t see how this can make for a funny movie. Someone please explain this to me.

I also loved JK Simmons' character (he played her father). He is easily the best part of all three Spider-Man movies and it's nice to see him in other roles too.

and there was another part, around that same "day" in the movie where someone goes "wow, that shirt (Juno's) is really working hard" and that also made me laugh, although it was so quick you had to be a rabbit to hear it.  Or something with good ears.

It was Mark, Vanessa's husband, that said that. I thought that was a great line--we both must be rabbits  :bunny:

THANK YOU!!!  I thought (trying to remember) it was someone in the high school- LOL!!!

That was such a good movie!
I was laughing way more than anyone else in the theater, especially at the punk band name drops.(But the dude that plays Dwight's cameo was the best part)

Yay F33!  yeah, the beginning was hilarious!  "Fertile Myrtle!"

There were some great one-liners in this movie

I posted this in the "what's in your ctrl v" thread, but I thought it deserved another post:

Punk Receptionist: Free condom? They're boysenberry.
Juno MacGuff: No, thanks. I'm off sex right now.
Punk Receptionist: My boyfriend wears them every time we have intercourse, it makes his junk smell like pie.

;D

I think you can basically point out the sadness and the funny sides in everything. also, while it's probably not an ideal situation I don't think it needs to be a horrible situation, teen pregnancy I mean. so why not use it as a topic?

Not sure if I actually enjoyed the movie itself but I liked listening to Kimya Dawson in the background.

I hear since the release of Juno, the rate of teen pregnancy has like, quadrupled because it promotes underage sex and makes pregnancy and morning sickness look like fun.  ::)

Seriously though, I think this movie should be at the bottom of the list when it comes to controversial subject matters in movies.

In America anything is fair game as long as it makes money. If Hollywood could turn a profit by making a zany comedy about all the "hilarious blunders" the Nazis made trying to perfect extermination methods in the Holocaust they would do it. I can see it now- "Ferris Himmler's Day Off".

Welcome to the commercial nightmare from which there is no awakening.

The world is a sick place indeed.

I haven't seen the movie, but I really have no desire too.

Just saw Juno. Liked it. Closed my eyes during the baby-having scene.  :-X

I saw it and I liked it  :)  The characters were all really cute.  Juno's parents were a bit unbelievable, and I felt so bad for Vanessa because they seemed to tease her a lot in the movie even though she was totally sweet, and her husband was such a skeeze yet they portrayed him as this really great likable guy.  >:(  Gr.  Anyways, it was a cute movie.

I dont think teens are going to take 'its okay to have a baby' out of the movie, but maybe it will soften people up to the idea a bit, I dunno.  Probably not a huge deal either way.

Saw this last night-I really enjoyed it. My husband and I have been trying to adopt for several months now and some of the scenes were a little painful. Ellen Page is amazing! I really loved the end.
