Thanks!!

The search function has changed.

Before, the search results would take me to the post I was looking for.  Now, it only takes me to the thread.

Yippee!!  I just searched for something and it took me to the actual post, not just the relevan thread.  Yay!

It was a bit weird though - I was searching for a veggie manchurian recipe, so I put manchurian in the search box and clicked the '13,000+ recipes' box and nothing came up.  So I checked the 'everything' box and the recipe came up in the search.  Weird, but at least I got it.

Shelloid - yeah, the search should be taking you to the correct thread now and be working better in general! Please pass on any weird things that you notice, and I'll definitely look into the recipe thing!!

thank you WML!  It certainly does seem to be working a bit better.  Although am I right in thinking that when you type something in the search box, it searches the text of the threads and not the titles?  It seems to be that way.  Maybe if we could have a 'search titles' bit that would help?
Either way, thanks for all the work you're putting in!!

Hey! The "Recipes submitted by this person" thing is cleared up! Thank you, Laura!!

Shell - If you go to "Advanced Search" there are two "Options":  1) Show results as messages and 2) Search in topic subjects only.  Place an asterisk on either side of your "Search for" search criteria and select the "search in topic subjects only".  You can also choose which boards to search in, if you'd like to limit your results.

I think it would be neat to have the option to see the posts in email notifications. Like..instead of just an email about "new reply....:link:" the actual topic reply would be in the email.

A couple of years back, it used to be. I don't know what changed it. Something to do with the many software changes, I expect.

I think that if a thread is old, there should be a warning that its an old thread before the post goes through. Something like the thing that shows up if some one has already replied since you've looked at it.
Maybe if it is older than a year? I don't know if thats difficult or not. But there are so many threads lately that keep starting back up for no good reason

Sometimes it's newbies who don't check the date of the last post. With all the new boards a lot of old posts show up on the first page. Other times it's a spambot that picks up on a word or two related to what they're hawking.

ya i think newbies... i remember not understanding why people would be so annoyed with people responding to super duper old posts but ya... it has become annoying over time... as well as the endless questions about what to eat, gluten free vegan what to eat, soy free vegan what to eat questions, etc... I am guilty of posting repeated threads myself and commenting on old ones... I try not to anymore... And THANK YOU FOR PUTTING UP WITH ME... But honestly i only REALLY started using the computer since becoming vegan (less than a year ago) and now i am always on it LOL

Off of what you said Amy,
I was once a newbie asking about soy-free foods, so now I feel compelled to respond when others ask, but it would be nice if in the recipe categories there was an Allergy category for soyfree and gluten free....along with that, when recipes are labeled, they can  be labeled as more than one thing, example: Salad, and soyfree, so the recipe would show up in both spots...or just the category, if the double label is too out-there:)

Tags. That's what the recipe section needs. Tags.

Copied over from chitchat:

Hey Laura, why does this forum resize images so small?

Hey All - we're definitely working on tags for everything, from gluten free to soy free to different ingredients in the dish. Tags are the wave of the future!

And, per usual, keep the ideas and suggestions coming! They are super helpful!

I'm having a problem: Anytime a lot of users are on (like over 350) vegweb goes soooooooooooo slow... like a minute for each click! What's going on? I know it's not my computer... Is there anyway to improve this? Vegweb is getting too popular LOL

I thought this was my imagination.  I'm having the same problem.

so this is only something I thought about yesterday when I hadn't been on VW for a few dys and there was loads of updated topics.....
when you click 'show new replies to my topics' is there any way to split them up into forum posts and recipe posts?  I don't know if anyone else would like this or not, but I'd quite like it, as that's how I generally look on VW - by looking at unread topics.
