I'd like to upload some stuff on the "I made that" thread and I have no idea how. And don't ask me to create a new account for a webpage somewhere...please don't.

Here:

1)  Go to tinypic dot com.  It's a photo upload site where you DON'T create an account.

2)  Upload the picture by clicking the "choose file" button and finding the file on your computer.  Click "Upload Now!"  (Don't bother with any other stuff under the "choose file" thing).

3)  It spits out IMG code (second piece of code).  Copy that.

4)  Paste the code in the body of your post.

That's pretty much the easiest way.  You have to host the image SOMEWHERE--all you are doing in your post is telling the site where to find the picture.  The only option for photos directly from your computer is to attach them.  I've never seen any other method on any other forum.

To add to comments about searching by ingredient, I just discovered allrecipes page.  I love it!  I can search for ingredients I want and ingredients I don't want.

--->  http://allrecipes.com/Search/Ingredients.aspx

Scratch that.  I am in lust with RecipeZaar's search by ingredient feature.

A special WARNING tab that people can use when they create a thread with adult content.

Definitely a specific veg*n parenting section of the forums that will be very visible to newcomers.  I feel like it's once or twice per week that someone asks about what to feed their vegan babes, and they aren't reaping the full benefit of the 343243 threads we have on the topic.

Yeah.  Definitely parenting and food sensitivities/gluten-free sections.  We get those questions a lot.

I dont think the diva thread needs to be in the do not disturb section. I'd hate for people to avoid it/not see it because its in there.
It might just be me thinking this though, idk.

Yeah, not sure about Diva. Is menstruation a no-no for under 13? Some girls get their period before then. I guess it's debatable.

It is in Lean, Mean Vegan Machine now!

i don't really want it avoided, either, but there is sex talk in the thread quite a bit.

There's an old thread made sticky in the Kitchen Sink that probably shouldn't be - where HH says she'll be in chat at 2 pm, Jan 2008 o_O

Are there loads of recipes currently being added from the queue to the main categories? I think a submitted one 1-2 months ago, and it's nowhere to be found now (queue or not)

I've noticed that when I click on the 'Show new replies to my posts' link, old threads that nobody has commented on since 2008 or 2007 are popping up, even after I read them, or click the 'Mark as read' button.

Is there any way the forums could be clumped together for thematic similarities with breakers or spacers of some sort in between the clumps? It's a long list.

What's going on/gonna happen with the cookbooks forum? I can't find it with the main forum layout now, but searching for individual topics takes me to the "cookbooks" section of the old food forum.
Basically: can the cookbook topics still be kept separate from general food questions (dine n dish or whatever) when it's integrated?

Cam - that might be something that happens for awhile until everything settles in the new threads! Let me know if it happens after a week or two!

RC - We're still working on moving all the forums but then maybe after that! Thanks for the (always great) suggestions!

faunablues - Definitely gonna separate out the cookbooks!

Only 3 pages in the recipe queue!  ;)b Amazing workz.

eta: I wrote this on my fb, but hey..it could help more people. A little guide to maybe help you sort the forum categories in your head.

Vegweb o rama-this is where you'll find all those great things that vegnews does for us..the giveaways and other stuff they want us to know about vw..you probably won't need to post here (make new topics, I mean)

happy hou
r-this is for intros, new people... new questions

dine n dish-food stuff, other than traveling, meet ups, and cookbooks

hands on herbivore

Going along with what RC said, I would like thematic groups setup something like this:

- Vegweb o rama
- Happy hour
(keep these at the top)

===Food Section===
- Dine n dish
- Nice package
- Fasten your seatbelt
- Datebook?

===Lifestyle Section===
- Lean Mean Vegan Machine
- Animal House
- Whats New Pussycat
- Stroller Derby
- Food Fight

===Misc Section===
- Sweet n sour
- Brain food
- Hands on herbivores
- Do Not Disturb
- Kitchen Sink

Something like that?  Other groupings can work, but I think 4 or fewer would be ideal--once you get to 5 it becomes harder to visually differentiate them.  Also, I think the names you came up with are really cute!

To clarify: I DON'T mean having like, boards within a directory.  I mean, visually organize the existing list into these sections.  I despise thet whole board-within-board thing--the fewer clicks to get to the section you want, the less likely you will forget the path to get there.

So, with my example, you wouldn't click anything to get to the food section, you would just see the chunk of names listed together.

The forum titles are messed up. Not as in a technical error but I can't find where to post anything anymore. I have no idea where the equivelant of news and debate is, or any kind of current affairs subtopic.

I have no idea where to raise the question what is the exact definition of a vegan (as I'm mid way through a debate here:

http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1032917&page=4

on what veganism is, and whether or not it denotes a moral code, and if it's a life style or just a diet).

I'll post that again somewhere else, where I'm sure I can get peoples attention better.
Also I can't find anywhere on any site the exact, word by word, definition of veganism in it's original form by Donald Watson (and perhaps his wife had some imput into it?)

edit:
Almost none of these names have anything to do with what goes in the sub forums.
Granted, this is your forum, and I'm not paying, but are you trying to driv people away?
To find where to post anything you have to go through each, almost randomly asserted name that vaugly fits the category and even then only in context, that you wouldn't guess without the description below. Where as simple, and well labelled forums, which are reader friendly, give the definitions, at least for the most part, away in the title, e.g. news and debate would be about anything in the news, anything that was contriaversial, so on so forth. Instead of all this, frankly mis leading stuff, like "brain food" which could be taken to mean all sorts of things by itself. It is a long, frustrating and tideous load of horse crap.
If this doesn't come across as rude then I think I've failed in my message as badly as the sub titles.

This has put me to be honest, in a fairly bad mood.

And if people were joining a lot before, forum wise, I think they'll decrease in signing up.

AOAS made me also think about - i wonder if some of the titles might have different meanings/understandings for users outside the US. like "what's new pussycat" might not be a universally understood phrase for "what's new with you?"

To me it's a Tom Jones song, I've never heard that said or written in everyday life.
I've never bothered to look up if it meant pussycat or something else.
