new vegan finds!

i'd like to start a thread of new things you happen across or discover that are vegan. i browse around in the grocery store quite a bit, reading labels, and sometimes find some pretty interesting and surprising vegan foods!
so anyway, one i found this weekend is....banana babies! they're from diana's bananas and the dark chocolate ones are vegan. they're just frozen bananas dipped in chocolate, but..mmmm. the chocolate is a tiny bit waxy, but all in all, i thought it was a pretty good find.
also, many of marie calendar's fruit pies are vegan as well, which is awesome for a yummy, fatty dessert when i don't feel like making one, haha...
anyone else been finding something cool and yummy?
i was thinking about this while i was at target yesterday and stopped to check out the poptarts, looking for gelatin. there were so many stupid ingredients on the side of the box though, that i just put them back down. i'm not sure i should be eating a pastry that has that many ingredients. it just seems... wrong.
also, check out the target brand grocery products (including archer farms organic). there's a lot of stuff that's vegan (not all of it, but still) and it's cheaper and all really yummy! i got the archer farms blueberry almond oatmeal and was totally psyched to see that it did not have milk in it! yay!
theres a recipe somewhere on vegweb that i think is called Baked Toaster-Like Pastries. for home made poptarts and you can fill them with whatever you want and put on as much gelatin-free frosting you want too!
fruit skittles and starburst from the UK and China dont have gelatin in them.. the ones in the US do tho.. i think you can order the UK ones online.. i got them from a friend that brought some back to give to me.. it was awesome

:hotforyou: I want some vegan starbursts!!
There's one and only one flavor of doritios that's vegan, I think it's the chili one or something like that.
The Spicy Sweet Chili flavored Doritos and Chile Limon (flamin hot ones are not) flavored Cheetos are vegan.
Also, just a quick note about Marie Calendar pies.... the frozen ones are vegan but the restaurant uses an egg wash on their pies that have a top crust.
I found kozy Shack soy pudding today at my local grocery store and bought the chocolat. I never liked the other soy puddings so I was skeptical, but I used to love Kozy Shacks puddings before I went vegan. The pudding was really good! Not too sweet very chocolately and creamy!! I did'nt buy the vanilla maybe next time. Yummy!!! ;)b
Okay so if pudding mix is vegan, has anyone tried making a super moist pudding cake? Adding a package of instant pudding is supposed to make it moist.

ohhhhhh my god.

before you get too excited, im pretty sure a few pages back this was actually shown to be untrue due to some 'natural flavorings' or something like that.
On one of my first grocery store trips after going vegan, I prepared myself for disappointment. I needed a salad dressing, and I was sure that I'd get stuck with something either boring or oily and super-fattening. And then I saw Ken's Steak House Lite Sweet Vidalia Dressing and wondered "Could it be?"
It could. First of all, Vidalia onions are the best-tasting food on Earth, and that's just a fact. Secondly, if you miss creamy salad dressing, this will make you one happy herbivore. Did I mention that it's low in fat?
I looked up the dubious-sounding preservatives and couldn't find anything non-vegan. That is, unless the terms "sugar" and/or "natural flavor" should scare me. Should they?
natural flavor could mean animal/insect derived. so.
if you want a creamy salad dressing, try some of annie's naturals products.
*coughgoddesscough*
they do have some nice lowfat/cal ones too. the tuscan italian is really delish.
i know lots of you already know that many store brand graham cracker pie crusts are vegan. but! i was really excited about this so i had to add it to the list: Kroger store brand reduced fat graham cracker crust is not only vegan, it is actuall LABELED with the vegan "V" right on the front of the package, along with a lactose free designation. it's so exciting to see vegan labelling, but i really didn't expect to see it on a traditional grocery store brand package (ie. not whole foods/trader joes)
go kroger!!

Panda licorice soo good, made form molasses :) It's good stuff man!
There's an east coast pizza chain called Ledo's which is really good...their dough and sauce is vegan.

same with pizza pipeline in the northwest!! and their sauce is surprisingly super delicious without the cheese masking it!
which also means that if you get the garlic breadsticks without cheese they are vegan. mmmmmmmm. and the last time i had it delivered the delivery guy was extra nice about assuring me that they used different spatulas and everything!

Kroger can be pretty awesome - they seem to have a better "health" foods section than other typical crappy grocery chains, at least here. They also have (or had - I haven't bought it in years) a private label version of the Quaker instant oatmeal "n cream" flavor variety (you know, peaches n cream, strawberries n cream, etc) that was vegan. I *think.* I was a pretty ignorant vegan at the time. Someone should probably check me on this, if they still have it. But I remember being really psyched.

I have to agree, Kroger is awesome. King Soopers is the only place I shop, besides whole foods.

REALLY?!? Wow, even more reason to love them. Any VegWeb Terps need to take note of this one: Ledo's is a UMD staple!
