Do Kinoki foot pads work?

I got some of these Kinoki foot pads for christmas that are supposed to draw out toxins from your body. Does anybody have any experience with these? I want to know if they work. I'm going to use them regardless but I'd like some feed back.

P.S. sorry if this has already been posted in the past but I don't want to go through every thread to see.

No takers?

I'm fairly certain I've heard that they were just a gimmick.  I've never tried them, though.  They certainly worth a try.

But she already has them, and I don't think you can send them back, since they were a gift... might as well try 'em?

I wonder how you can tell if it's "gunk" or if it's like, sweat or something. Does it come with a color-coded chart that tells you what metals and toxins it is sucking out of your system?
???

I think it's an interesting concept and if they worked, they'd be cool.

They have ground up shells in them, according to a website.

"Chitosan, a polysaccharide derived from the shells of shrimp and other crustaceans, is included in dietary supplements supposedly in order to attract fat. Modified Chitosan is sometimes claimed to absorb three to six times its weight in fat and oils, but its ability to attract and absorb fat, thus getting rid of it for the body, is unsubstantiated. According to one website, one might only expect thirty calories per day to be eliminated by Chitosan from the diet"

But the poor grammar may indicate they don't know what they're talking about.

But...in a footpad? What does it do, suck the fat right out through your pores as you walk?  :o
That's just scary...

I'm sorry, I don't see how wearing something in your shoes is going to eliminate toxins from your body, particularly if you wear socks.

But then a herballist once told me to wear leather-soled shoes in order to eliminate "negative energy" from my body...according to her, rubber isolates you from the earth and doesn't allow the bad vibes to be safely grounded away. Uh-huh.  ::)

They're NOT VEGAN! They suck fat out? They help you lose weight? I thought they were supposed to like..clear your body and balance you with the earth, or something. Hm.

That's what I thought they were supposed to do, as well-- eliminate your body of "toxins".  I never heard (on the infomercial) that they were to be used as a weight-loss method.

Try them for a while, then store them on the shelf in the basement next to your pet rock, mood ring and 8 track tape player. Not to mention the Pocket Fisherman, which isn't vegan either...

(And none of you whippersnappers has even heard of a Pet Rock. Yeesh, I'm old.)

Well that sucks that they're not vegan I really didn't even think about that. the ingredients say Bamboo vinegar, tourmaline, "detox herbs", and lavender essential oils. Who knows what these detox herbs are. The box says they absorb heavy metals, metabolic waste and impurities. I wish they sucked the fat out that would be awesome. I would stick them all over my body!

I did try them last night and when I checked them out this morning there were green like the commercial shows. I'll post what happens next time.

Thanks for the responses!

I got a pet rock for christmas one year...broke up with the guy who gave it to me soon after too...

I have no idea if these things work or not.  I kinda have my doubts...and walking on shells (literally) is a turn off.  But as long as you have then and are willing to play guinea pig for us.....ok.

Interesting.....

Your foot sweat probably oxidizes the chemicals on the pads.  That's my guess.
Besides, your foot skin is so thick!  How could anything get through it in any significant amount?

This is fun though.  I like hearing about what happens.

That's what I was kinda thinking but then again, they are supposed to start to lighten up after you use them so many times so that makes me a little iffy. My feel felt a little hot where the pads were but that may have been due to no air circulating to them.

Are you feeling pure, though?!
