Rice Protein

I asked about ideas to increase my AM protein in another post, and someone suggested adding rice protein to my oatmeal.  I really want to do this!  Does anyone know where I can buy this?  Or have a brand they recommend?  Anyone with experience using rice protein powder please comment...  Thanks!  8)

yes, i use a rice protein powder by nutribiotic.  i get both plain and vanilla.  i buy them in individual serving packets at new seasons (a whole foods store only in the portland area of oregon) b/c i wasn't sure if i'd actually use the entire big container.  i have seen the big containers available at whole foods but not the individual packets (in case you wanted to try it first).  anyway, i like them b/c they mix pretty easily, leaving no lumps w/o using a blender.  typically i just pour some rice milk into a cup and then dump the packet in and stir w/ a spoon.  when i'm not lazy, i add to a smoothie.  anyway, good luck.

I've seen the one by Nutribiotic and it looks good. The brand I get is Genestra and I get it from my ND. It's got a really mild vanilla flavour and is really delicious. Basically you probably just want to get a brand that is as whole and natural as possible. I see the Nutribiotic one (and other brands also) at most of the health food stores around here. Hope this help KendraKat!

I say add a heaping spoonful of hemp seeds nuts.  I just discovered them within the last year and they are now popping up in HFS all over.  I think two tablespoons has something like 10 grams of protein plus excellent omegas.

I use NutriBiotic's Spectrum Shake (http://store.nutribiotic.com/pgi-productspec?0100).  It is rice protein with spirulina and doubles as my vitamin/mineral supplement.

The label doesn't say vegan, so I emailed the manufacturer and they said it's vegan, but they missed getting it on the label this go-around: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=17570.0

Yeah, I agree- hemp nuts (or hemp hearts as we call them) are great too. use these often too (Manitoba Harvest is a good one but I don't knw if it's available in the States).

What do hemp nuts taste like?  As much as I love soy, I am not a huge fan of soy nuts.  Are hemp nuts expensive?  ???

KendraKat- they have a really really mild nutty taste- barely any tast at all. They are kind of expensive they last a while. A 454 g container costs me about $12-$14 and lasts a few months since I alternate my proteins (sometimes I'll add these, sometimes rice protein powder, along with flax and raw nuts- just depends on what I feel like having).

I forgot to add- they're not really like nuts- they're way tinier- more like something you'd sprinkle on/ into something else as opposed to eating a handful.
