I have picked my "Quit Smoking" date.... NVR
My food processor hasn't arrived yet. Guess it will Monday or Tuesday. I ordered some quit smoking stuff from the States but the order got all mucked up somehow and it was cancelled.
So this morning I went to my health food store to look for something with the ingredient Lobelia Inflata in it as was suggested to me on a previous post (although I can't find that post now).
I found something and bought it. My quit date is Monday, August 27th. I thought it would be easier to start on Monday as I don't smoke during the day on work days.
I bought A homeopathic product called Stop-it, Smoking. The company, NatraBio.
The active ingredients are:
Caladium seguinum - reduces tobacco cravings
Avena sativa - Reduces ill effects of tobacco use
Euphorbium officinarum - Helps to detoxify mucus membranes
Ignatia amara - Nervous tension
Lobelia Inflata - Helps to detoxify from tobacco use
Nux Vomica - Helps to detoxify from tobacco use
Passiflora incarnata - Reduces ill effects of tobacco use.
Non active ingredients:
Cellulose, Croscarmellose Sodium, Dextrose, Lactose and Magnesium Stearate
Not tested on animals.
The program consists of chewing and letting dissolve in the mouth two sublinguals 4 times daily for one month.
Month 2: Two sublinguals 3 times daily.
Month 3: One sublingual 3 times daily.
Funny that it is a three month plan because years ago, when I tried quitting the three month mark was when I would start again. Then I quite for 14 years. I may do these for 4 months for psychological reasons. Getting past the three months.
I also bought the lozenges that you take when you have a real craving. Won't need them during the day but nights and weekends, I probably will. Wanted to be armed with them just in case.
Active ingredients:
Caladium seguinum - Reduces tobacco cravings
Plantago major - Reduces tobacco cravings
Cinchona officinalis - Reduces tobacco cravings
Lobelia inflata - Reduces ill effects of tobacco
Nux Vomica - Reduces tobacco craving
Staphysagria - Reduces ill effects of tobacco
Calcarea Phosphorica - Reduces tobacco cravings
Ignatia amara - Reduces nervous tension
Anyway it sounds good and the guy at the health food store said he thinks it is a great product. They also had another one but he recommended this.
If nothing else, if I think it is going to work, whether or not it truly does, hopefully my brain will think it is working...so it will.
I haven't even been smoking 10 months and this time seems harder to quit than the last time 15 years ago and I quit Cold Turkey then.
Oh, the product is nicotine free.
Wish me luck and continued success to all those who have quit or are making the decision and the big leap to actually quitting.
Di
I bought a little journal today and am going to use it while quitting my bad habit. I want to be able to read it every day and see how I have progressed and to remember how I felt day by day.
I will put my two lists in it. I was going to write the lists outside in the sun but I am covered in sunscreen so greasy!

Great idea!
Di, you sound like you are really ready & I wish you luck. The first week (Hell Week) is the hardest but we're here for you. If you need to ask a question about withdrawl or just vent, bring it on. :)
My quit date was a Monday too & Monday is a wonderful day to quit on. I used to hate Mondays but after quitting, I looked forward to them because it meant I was starting another week smoke free. Tomorrow will be 23 weeks for me :D darn near 6 months...WOW,
I used the patch & can attest to the dreams. I miss the dreams now. They are so vivid & when I woke, I wasn't sure if they really happened. If I told you what I dreamt, you'd think I was nuts.
Lotus, I did the countdown to my last smoke too but I think I made such a big deal out of it that when it came time to smoking it, I didn't enjoy it ;D
Moodiness? I say no, DH says hell yeah, she's a bitch ;D
Weight gain? YES! But a few (not telling) pounds is way better than smoking. ;)
CRAVE THE QUIT!!!
