me too. doesn't everyone? ???
rebecca
yay, fun!
Brettyeyes-I do the same thing, with animal noises I mean! :D Only I dont have to be excited, I do it alllll the time. its the most emberassing thing when you are in the middle of a lecture and all of the sudden "bahhh" ??? errmm, yeah. So at first my parents thought I had tueretts syndrome. I had really hard tiem controlling it and even do it sometimes when Im by myself. The thing that got me to (almost) stop, or at least cut back was that I dated this guy who hated it and would say some thing every time I made something even resmbling an animal noise. I guess it was more habbit than anything else....I dunno.
I have pretty bad OCD so I have tons of weird habbits...thrying tot hink of just one, or one that hasnt already been said. I know!
When I walk past crayolas in the store, I have to stop and smell them, because it is my favorite smell in the world. I just stop, open the box a bit and -sniff! close it, put it one th shelf adn walk away....
Am I the only person that, when buying something that's supposed to be fresh like bread or margarine or whatever, will reach past the front line of products and take one from the back? Not because they rotate stuff on the shelves so the older product is in front, but because--and I know this sounds horrid--to me the stuff in front has probably been handled by a lot of people. It probably hasn't but I can't help it. And if they sit an extra one on top of the stack to get rid of the empty carton--I never take that one.
I have that same, weird obsession! That kind of thing could be contagious! I would do that, too, if I weren't afraid to turn it back on! (long story, but my family has a really bad history with natural gas- I wouldn't have it in my house at all if I had a choice. I am totally neurotic about it - afraid to do things like cook with gas).
Is it possible there to get an electric single-burner appliance or hotpot so you wouldn't have to mess with it in the morning?
Yes, get a hotplate. They come with 1 or 2 electric burners. You can get them with just one. If your appliance store doesn't have one try a second-hand store or charity shop.
I have a lot of the weird obsessions that have been posted so far...
I also DO NOT like odd numbers... Like the TV or radio volume has to be on an "even number" or the treadmill is on an even number if I am running... LOL my family thinks I am a nut...
I am with the others on folding towels the "right way" and having cans face forward in the pantry... And not touching anything in a public restroom... And books, spices, and DVD's must be alphabetized... OH and I am totally with whoever said they can't stand when people don't recycle... I have taken "garbage" home from my parents house before because they refused to recycle it!
I also like all light switches to be down when they are off... Like if there are 2 switches to control one light they can't be "up" when the light is off... I hate that...
Thats all for now... But I am sure I have a million other things that would classify me as OCD :D
is it wierd that i don't have any wierd habits?

i get that! the light switch at my job is backwards so when the lights are off, the switch is up. and it really bugs me
oh, and what really bugs me is that when i come home and my dad has been home and in the kitchen, he leaves ALL of the cupboards he was in open. usually when i come home from work the first thing i have to do is close all the cupboard doors and it makes me really mad sometimes because it makes the house look messy and i dont like living in a mess
Ok, I do have wierd habbits. You guys/gals just reminded me ;) Yabbit, nope. You're not the only one. When I buy bread, or any "fresh" item at the supermarket, I dig for one in the back. It IS because I know it's fresher (is that a word?).
tofuttibreak, I'm like that, too. I'm picky about what order I put things on the conveyor at check out. I don't like meat in the same bag has my vegan stuff. And I don't like soaps and cleaners in the same bag as food, ect. So I put stuff on the conveyor in the order in which I want them bagged. Most of the time, the cashier will catch on. But some dont >:(
I also have a thing about recycling. Maybe not as bad as Little2ant, but close. Here in NY, we get 5 cents back for every bottle or can (from beer and soda) we recycle. The supermarkets up here have "recycling centers." So I have a recycle container for those items, one for things like glass, plastic, ect and one for cardboard/papper items. And I'm VERY picky about what goes in which box. And I recyle EVERYTHING. Including clothes (they go to the local thrift stores).
When we go on trips for more than a couple of days, we turn off our well (water). We got in that habbit because our old water heater was old, and we didn't want it to leak. We got a new one a couple of years ago, but we still turn our well off ... weird.
The bed has to be made before I can leave the house. I can't stand an unmade bed.

I do this! In fact, my DH always makes fun of me! He tells that I'm getting a "fresh" one. But I do that specifically so I don't get one people touched. It's not just food either. It's books, cd's, dvd's...anything that comes stacked up in groups. I try to take the bottom or next to bottom one! I never met anyone else that did this!

My sister does that! If you watch closely, you can see something flicker in her eyes if there's only one left. I think she's deciding whether she really wants that one. :)
My weird quirk is that all the bills in my wallet have to be right side up and facing the same way. Maybe this is something everyone does, or maybe it's just me.

I do it to. For me it is carryover from years as a waitress.

OK, I'll fess up, I do it with everything. One reason I do it with non-food items is that here where I live people are not averse to opening a box containing an appliance or whatever, taking it out, and then stuffing it back in just anyhow! And I always wonder if there's something missing. Yup, take the one at the back, or on the bottom, if you can...look for the one that's still sealed/shrink-wrapped etc.

i do that. i thought mostly everyone did? my boss and i talk about it all the time because, with working in a bakery, it's kinda annoying when customers do that lol because it just leads to more things we have to throw out at the expirey date. but then we always say "but we do it to"
i personally do it because i like believing i've gotten something brand brand new that noone else has ever handled outside of the factory
but, with work too, it bugs me because when we put things out on the shelves (obviously) we have to put the newer things on the bottom of the stack or in the back or whatever, and every mornng that i go in after my day off, i go look at all the tables and racks of items and the new stuf is all on top, and it frustrates me so much that my coworkers dont do their job right and dont even care about it. it mostly just bothers me cuz then i hafta go in and fix it
The bed has to be made before I can leave the house. I can't stand an unmade bed.
Me too; I also don't like ANYTHING to stay in the right hand side of the sink. Left side can be over-flowing, but the right side must be empty.
and i do the the money thing, all faced, highest bill to lowest with the lowest on the outside (that way if you drop one, it's the least amount).
I count.
I count steps, trees, patterns, you name it. I have many, many categories & I keep count. I should have been an accountant. ;D I loved Watership Down.
I smiled at those who don't like odd numbers, cuz I love prime numbers. I look for them everywhere. I rarely play the lottery, but when it gets over $50 mil, I'll buy a ticket & play all primes. Someday, I'll win. :D
I love pi too. I can recite it to about 80 digits, always learning more. ::) What better things do I have to do with my time? Someday I would like to write a little rap about pi using snipets of pi.

I loved it too, but remind me why it has to do with counting? I saw it about 25 yrs ago and I can't remember. That's the kind of thing that keeps me up all night.
Everytime I read any magazine if I see something I find interesting or I like I must cut it out. I have soo many clippings yet I just store them and never do anything with them yet I could never throw them away.

I love that smell too! But it has to be Crayola Crayons though. mmmm!
