Lubi really does know about waxing, right? Or was that an inside joke?
I went and got my eyebrows waxed on FRIDAY and NOW I am getting acne all around where the waxing happened....its bad...Ive had my eyebrows waxed like a million time and this has never happened before. I've only been to this particular place one other time (and this did not happen then, but could it be bad sensitization practices? Why would it take so long for the pimples to show up? Im grossed out...and I certainly don't want to risk going back to a place that's all contagious or something.... :(
I concur. Legs should be cake compared to getting
something else waxed.
(I hope your legs don't hurt).
Lauren, are you still hurting? it shouldn't hurt after a day or maybe 2
It was yesterday at 4...so, it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. It's just kinda sore right now...and tender.
I want laser hair removal soo bad (i have a phobia of body hair). Does anyone know like average prcies or anything? I cant seem to find anything when i look, or call or anything, they just tell me to come in. and i cant. eh. Like, underarms, bikini, or well. anything hah.
I want to get it before i start getting more tattoos
undersarah, bikini would be around $800ish. you would probably eed about 6 sessions. underarms, $300ish depending on how much hair you have
I got the laser stuff done (only once) and it was only like $150 for bikini...
the hair fell off and all, but did grow back (took alittle longer to grow back)
I only went for one session, so of course it didn't permanently work.
I might do it for real some time, when I feel like its affordable...
How much typically is waxing?
How much typically is waxing?
I charge:
brows $12, lip $10, Face $25, bikini $25 and up, brazilalian $65, back $40, ful legs $60, half leg $35
Yeah, thats why i've been thinking about laser. Plus, if i get it sooner, it'll pay off more (ie, less waxing/shaving/plucking/dissolving in all). Only thing is.. thats quite expensive. Its like that much per session or in all? (please let it be total, please let it be total, please let it be total)

those prices would be the total price. alot of places you can pay per session and you may not need all the sessions recommeded.
cause it doesn't work on light hair
Dang! That's a disappointment.
Yea, I'm italian so I have dark hair..
It made the hair fall out when I got it done, but it still grew back all the same without any reduction....
... so don't expect too much out of your first session.
Though I don't doubt you'll see something after that?
I have fine dark hair all over my body. It's embarrassing. One time I tried waxing around my bellybutton at home and it was disastrous- bumps all over, and it just left a strip where there were no hairs but there were still little hairs all around so it looked stupid. I don't know what to do. Maybe I just need to accept that this is how my body is. Or should I bleach everything?

Ah, I'm like that too.
I say accept it... most people don't care... then again, I hide it very well. And usually I'm not interested in be around people who would care!
I went through a 'feminist' phase (I'm still a feminist, but less about the appearance of being feminist, if that makes sense) where I stopped shaving all together... its crazy how some women don't look like they have leg hair or armpit hair, but us lucky ones obviously do.... haha.

Thanks Teade, for helping me feel like I'm not the only one. I went through a not-shaving stage too, but it wasn't for a very feminist reason- I was actually dating someone who preferred I didn't shave! oh dear. I do consider myself a feminist too, but I guess not as much appearance-wise. I shave my armpits because they are very hairy... my legs have relatively fine hair though. I guess I'm lucky there. What is it about body hair that is considered so unattractive? It's so frustrating!!
I know!!! I haven't shaved my legs in a month, and it doesn't look that bad. I will probably get it waxed soon. But the biggest problem is on my face, for the past two years, I've been having so much hair on my face, it's not something that can be hidden, so wax wax wax, but that causes pimples... I think it might be a hormonal thing...
Yea, that's sort of the same thing that was brought on for me. Guys who like the unshavened.
Honestly, my opinion of men has changed too. I like men who have body hair (not gorilla hair, but hair)
I get a little creeped out when a guy shaves.... anything (except maybe his face? But I still like facial scruffle)
Luckily there are men out there that'll like you for you and not for the amount of hair you don't have!
lol.
And off the topic.... I really tend to dislike women who claim you can't be a feminist unless you refuse to shave. Wtf. I'm a strong woman even if I shave!
What are the possible long-term side effects of laser? I think waxing is probably safer and has been done for thousands of years... and of course shaving. But at least with waxing, the hair does get finer after much waxing... Ahh, but it's soo painful :(

For me, I didn't have any problems.... still don't? (I don't know, maybe it'll hit me later in life?)
It really wasn't all that painful (I had my bikini and underarms done) My underarms hurt more than bikini.. and even then, you can tell them and they will turn down the level they are doing it.
I'd say it feels like a pinch...
I've been waxed once before... that didn't hurt at all in my opinion... just alot of gooping and pulling...
Its not all that bad.
But I heard that its recommended not to be done when you are on your period (because you're more pain-sensitive)? I dunno though...
I bought an epilator, i use that sometimes.. if i can be patient enough to let the hair grow out enough to use it. (its like, mechanical tweezers?)
Eh. Body hair just.. no.. I cant do it haha.

How is the epilator? I was thinking of purchasing one... but I'm not sure.
I'm cheap, so I wasn't sure if it was one of those things where the cheaper it is, the worse job it does...
