waxing question--wheres Lubi?

Lubi really does know about waxing, right? Or was that an inside joke?

I went and got my eyebrows waxed on FRIDAY and NOW I am getting acne all around where the waxing happened....its bad...Ive had my eyebrows waxed like a million time and this has never happened before. I've only been to this particular place one other time (and this did not happen then, but could it be bad sensitization practices? Why would it take so long for the pimples to show up? Im grossed out...and I certainly don't want to risk going back to a place that's all contagious or something.... :(

Maybe they are ingrown hairs?

...or the plague.

She really does, she's an esthetician.

...or the plague.

No.

there are 2 main causes of that
1 would be if they use the same stick on everybody, it gets the natural oils from your skin in the wax, or another common problem is when  they rip the strip off it opens all your pores and dirt, oil, etc get in the pores easier.  you can watch next time to see if they get a new stick for you, and tell them to use toner or something antiseptic after waxing to close your pores

some of the home waxing kits are not very strong so you might be breaking hair off at the root.  you could buy the basic wax pot and wax at Sally's, some wax strips, and I always buy a huge box of popcycle sticks at walmart.  it's not too hard to do small areas like brows or lip. just spread the wax, put the strip on, rub over it a few times and rip off in the opposite direction of the hair growth

thanks lubi...I'll watch for that, actually come to think of it, I usually watch the person getting all set up, but THIS time the girl had me lay down and was talking to me (looking at my eyebrows) before she set up and she asked me to close my eyes (I figured she was one of those types of people who get freaked out if you have your eyes open when they think they should be shut so I listened) but I remember feeling anxious that she'd set things up differently since I was not watching...HOWEVER, I'll hope that it was more that there was bacteria on my skin which got into the pores and ask for them to do the antiseptic thingy first. THANK YOU!!!!

Dude, you keep your eyes open when they wax your brows?!?!

I always close my eyes because I'm freaked out that my lashes would get stuck in the wax.  :o

I usually get small bumps at the edges of my brows, maybe I will try the antiseptic thing. I've been wondering if I should get my upper lip waxed, I'm sure nobody else in the world notices the microscopic hairs... but I do. But dang, I've had this problem for years where the skin around my mouth is very prone to being dry and flaky, or blotchy.

I always wonder what it's from, and I don't want to get my lip waxed because I'm afraid it will aggravate the blotchy-ness.

I do it every once in a while at home.  Just because i'm worried people will notice.

I don't do laser hair removal but several friends do, and it really seems to work

Holy crap Lubi!!

I'm still in pain!  Why, oh why does waxing hurt so much?!?!  Sorry....I figured I'd just blame you since you're our resident esthetician.  ::)  I forgot how much your tolerance for that kind of pain diminishes if you take a sabbatical from waxing for a while.  :'(

I just made an appointment for next Saturday to get half legs done.  Yikes!  Ive never waxed anything so I am slightly nervous.  Though I think my pain tolerance is pretty good.  At least I have a quarter of a leg that is numb due to cut nerves! Yay. haha

lower legs isn't too bad if your hair isn't really coarse.  If it's coarse....thats another story

I have no idea how to tell if its coarse, though I think it is.  I try to not let it get too long.  Waiting another week may have it feeling softer though.

*crosses fingers*

Cali, have you let it grow at least 2 weeks?

Cali,
You should be OK on the leg waxing.  I had something else waxed.  ^-^  But it was: :waa:
