Three Cheers for Fresh City!
My co-worker won a free office lunch from Fresh City. The idea is that they would bring an assortment of wraps, some salad, cookies, chips, and drinks. Now, I love me some Fresh City - but I always get a teriyaki tofu stir fry there, because it's one of the few things I know are truly vegan. Anyways, my coworker knows that I'm vegan so I guess he spoke to their catering manager and she said they would make me a special wrap. Well, the lunch was today, and I got my special wrap (although I'm not entirely positive it was vegan since I don't know what's in the wrap and dressing), but it was great - big wrap filled with lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, red onion, edamame, and some kind of yummy dressing. I thought that was so nice of them! I mean, it was a free lunch so they could have told my coworker to pi$$ off, but they didn't - they (and he) went the extra mile!
So yay for Fresh City!!! ;D This was the first time I've been able to participate in office lunches! We get pizza, D'Angelos, and Carvel ice cream cake all the time, but I can never have any :( But today I could - yay!!
Yay! Fresh City sounds really nice, I've never heard of it. I get excited just going to a bar & seeing they have veggie burger on the menu so I can have somethign besides salad & fries, so I'm sure you were really happy. I think it's good to encourage places to have vegan options so that others can see its not that hard to avoid meat & dairy & maybe eventually being vegan will become mainstream!
That's so encouraging! Your co-worker must be pretty cool. Whenever our principal has lunch catered for the faculty, it's always, ALWAYS chicken salad on croissants. First of all, I never liked chicken salad even when I was omni. I don't so much expect them to change the menu just for me, but it's the way it goes down. I bring my lunch everyday, and when everyone else is eating their chicken and mayo ( :P) my principal says, "you don't want a sandwich?" and I respond, "no thanks, I'm vegetarian." To which she says, "Oh, that's right! I 'm sorry, I forgot." I don't so much care that she doesn't go out of her way to accomodate me, but I'm pretty public about my diet and I just hate the whole fake "Oops, I forgot."
So, now that I've made this thread about ME ::)....Congrats on your great meal!
