I'm fairly well informed but some of the stuff on here really grossed me out..I'd like to think I'm careful, but...

Could you explain what the link is please? I don't really want to click on something when I have no idea what it is.
Is imgur like tinypics?
It's a firefox add-on, but I haven't added it.
That said, if it's something grossly non-vegan, I probably wouldn't look at it, anyway.
ah, i've seen this before. it's not quite accurate, and it may seem that it's saying that (for instance) ANY adhesive comes from cow. It's really that most of these things could be animal derived or not. In some cases (like gum), it's almost always NOT animal derived. Doesn't mean it can't be.
Yet another case of "if you can't be pure vegan, there is no point to doing anything ever! please go back to eating meat and make me feel more comfortable!! please?!"
A lot of the things they are mentioning may be made with "by products". Even if there are "cow parts" in shampoo, for example, the cow was not killed to make shampoo. What was left after the meat products was sent to a rendering plant instead of a landfill and broken down into usable chemicals.
20+ yrs ago, a neighbor's cat was hit by a car and died. I was asked to give a check to animal control for "disposal". I was curius and asked what was going to happen to the body. I was told it would be sent to a rendering plant. To me, this is a better use of the remains of both pets and food animals than the alternatives.

Exactly what I was going to say. Just more vegan bashing bullshit from defensive meat-eaters.

Exactly! Meat eaters need to hear this message: the cow is tortured and slaughtered for your pleasure of eating rotting flesh, NOT to make chewing gum and shampoo. There are natural, healthy ingredients that can be used for all those products that do not involve the torture of innocent beings for pleasure.
Sure man has come up with clever ways to use the animal he tortures and eats. This is primarily because of the land, ground water, and air pollution that results when the carcasses are buried or incinerated.

Yep. People love to hear good things about their bad behavior.
Another argument I have seen is that the livestock owe their lives to humans; since if humans didn't breed them for slaughter they would have never been able to live. Oh sure, and what a life: imprisoned and tortured from day one until day last at the hands of humans. I find it hard to believe that oppressors try to couch their cruelty as benevolence, ie "There would be nothing alive to be cruel to, if we weren't cruel, therefore cruelty creates life." Really? REALLY?
Here is the best answer by the most awesomest blog ever (vegan.com)

this article is old news... like 6 months ago at least
There's an item missing in the diagramme referenced in the OP. Where it says Manure, there should be an entry reading "This Diagramme."

haha
here is a chapter in erik's book on the topic: http://vegan.com/ultimate-vegan-guide/chap24/
FYI...I did not make the diagram, I came across it and got a bit freaked out and simply wanted reassurance that it was just some carnivore being a hater. I personally haven't eaten meat in over 16 years and don't ever plan to again. So thank you all for the reassurance.
IT'S TRUE. JUST STOP TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. BEING VEGAN DOESNT HELP ANYTHING. KILL YOURSELF, TOO.
