Saver obsession?

What do you find yourself stockpiling and hanging onto?

With me, it used to be cardboard boxes. That was when I had a close relationship with my mother...used to save "good boxes" to mail her stuff in. I was working fulltime, I could afford postage...

Nowadays, it's glass jars with good lids. Yes, you need some to store beans/spices/flour etc in, but I have to admit I have far too many! And mostly the same (rather too small) size. I know, I can put the lids in the metal-recycle bin and the jars in the bottle bank, but I keep stacking them up like someday SOON I am gonna NEED about a dozen jars that hold a cup and a half!

So what do you save obssesively?

Clothing.
Papers- cards, old school papers, notes, etc.
School text books. (I paid an arm and a leg for them!)

Occasionally something will shift inside me for a few hours and I sweep through my closets and drawers and throw away/donate items.

Anything I write I keep.  No matter what it is about.  No matter how pointless I keep it.  I probably have an entire shelf on my bookshelf full of things I've written.

Books--they multiply like rabbits...or I keep buying them...

Seeds from fruits I eat.  I have a vase full of random seeds.  Sorting them would have seemed smart when I started collecting them!  I could sure use your left over jars, Yabbit!

ME TOO!!!!! I'll actually pick a product because it has a jar that I like :-\

I also have a book fetish.  Oh, and also plastic pots from flowers. I'm not sure what I'm planing to do with them.

Everything.  I save EVERYTHING.  Hello everyone.  My name is Lotus and I am a packrat.

I'm working on it.  Seriously.  It's ridiculous.

Books.  Thousands of them.  In fact, my husband and I had to move and his company moved us.  It cost $5,000 to move my books  :o  I also collect cooking magazines.  Have years worth of Bon Appetit, Vegetarian Times, Veg News, Veggie Life, Gourmet, etc.  I can't let them go and I know I won't make a lot of the recipes but they're like "comfort food" to me.

boxes for me, because I know I'm moving out and back in every summer and fall! *sigh*. Who would BUY boxes anyway?

I also save the teeniest amounts of yarn that I have leftover from projects. I have about 20 yards of every color by now. I should do something creative with them...

I am totally guilty of the jar thing...  I don't think its a bad thing at all though, because in a way I am "recycling" it on my own by reusing them for other things...  Such as all my bulk spices and whatnot.  I do have the same problem though, I have WAY too many and they are overflowing my cupboard.  I too have bought products in the past just because I like the jar, lol...  I also "collect" pens from work...  We get them free from pharm reps (so I am not really stealing or anything) but I do have more than I could ever use in a lifetime ha ha...

Anyone need pens or jars?  8)

Uh...all of the above!  It's awful!  I LOVE when I can be clutter-free, but that never lasts long!

Right now, definitely boxes and containers, little slips of paper I write notes on, newspapers and magazines, ugh.  I want it all out, but I can't seem to let it go!  "What if I/someone needs it someday?"  ???

Empty tofu containers. They don't recycle them here, and well, I have a LOT of them.  They are so cute! Also, the lids to soymilk containers-the little circular ones. One day I will have a use for them.

I did bring them  (tofu boxes) to school and put crayons in them. No one has asked what they are though! I brought in cardboard from all my food for a project and the kids were asking what it was-Boca burgers? AND told me I drank too much Silk. Probably true.

Mailing envelopes

Oh, Closeyoureyestosee, I have a solution for the little slips of paper! I had a TON by the computer, so
I bought a spiral  notebook and taped them all in there and now I just write in the notebook (usually).  I still end up with lots in the car when i write down songs i like.

Little slips of paper tend to get lost in the maelstrom so I live by Post-it notes. They are stuck everywhere. Especially in the living room, on the cupboards in there. DH hates the look of them but you touch my Post-Its, you die! That's my memory stuck on the wall!

I'm that way with fabric and thread (embroidery and sewing).  Also old paycheck stubs.  I've got every one from my first job to present (16 years worth).  Sharpie markers and pens too.
