okay.. does this happen often??????

i have an air conditioner in my window because of the summer and have yet to take it out. i've heard like birds walking around on it sometimes over the summer, but my BF and i were sitting in my room yesterday and we could hear that noise again and he said "i think u have a nest in your air conditioner" so i got up and looked at it but obviously couldnt see anything

now i can hear a LOT of noise coming from it. i'm sitting right next to it, i can hear walking around, chirping from more than one or two birds, and i can hear one of them chewing on something plastic in there (i've had birds so i know what it sounds like)

i'm kinda afraid of taking it out and checking it. i'm not gonna be able to do it til tonight anyway but... holy moly...

It probably is birds or a squirrel.

lol you must have a big hole in your air conditioner or something!!! Birds will find the funniest places to build a nest. We have them in the gap between the foor & celing of our finished garage and on top of a light on our front porch! If I were you I would let them stay until they leave on thier own.

We have ring-necked doves here and they will nest on anything. Not so much nest...they put down literally 2 twigs and lay their eggs between them and that's that. Basically the 2 twigs mean "this space is taken." I finally leanred that the eggs when laid are covered with a sticky mucus that adheres to the surface they're laid on...and it's a good thing because otherwise they'd be rolling off branches hither and yon. These birds have NO architectural discernment of "where's a good place to raise my family." How the chicks manage I don't know; maybe they're sticky too? LOL

Anyway, they will "nest" on TOP of our AC but not yet inside it.
If you're in the UK, you can't disturb a bird's nest or nestlings, it's the law...you might check into local legislation.
