NVR: Worked out my notice

You ever think something is really okay and then when you get away from it, you find it really really SUCKED?  That is how I felt about this job I had for so long and my last day was today.  THANK YOU GOD!  I stayed a lot longer than I needed to, for my own well being that is.

I love both of my new jobs, I am not feeling bored at all.  The hours and pay are better too, but I find I am not scrambling to work quite so hard and I am able to get some real sleep regularly.

I am exhausted today and tonight, partly because I think I am so relieved to be free of a job I had told myself I loved, but I didn't.  That'll "learn" me to lie to myself about something.  I was afraid that the grass was going to be browner over the fence so I refused to jump it, but finally got pushed over it and it is FINE.

If you are thinking about making a change in your life, I say go for it.

Good for you!!  It can take an awful lot of courage to make the leap.  Well done and I hope it carries on improving for you.  Isn't it funny how that can happen though - I mean the thinking everything's fine until it has to stop.  A friend's husband left her(not in a particularly nice manner) and after a couple of days of utter shock she just blossomed.  She says she had never once realised how unhappy she had been for years and years.  She's absolutely skyrocketing now.

Amen. I spent a few too many years in a job that I said I loved... but the truth was I loved the idea of it, the romanticised image, more than the work itself. It's an amazing momnet when you realize that way you want your job to be, will never be. It suddenly fills you with freedom and courage.

I'm glad you're happier and less harried for time.

I'm really happy for you.  I've had that feeling a couple of times and know how good it can be, but it wasn't even for a job I'd had for years, so I can only imagine just how good it feels.

Aw, man... you just described my job - but I'm going to continue living in denial for a few more years.  I keep telling myself that even if I can't create as much change as I'd like, I'm displacing someone taking the job who'd make things worse.  Pathetic, I know, but it works for me most days.

Congrats Lady!!  I'm in the exact same position as you right now.  I have 2 weeks left from today and although I have some nervousness, I'm so excited to be doing something different.  I've been at my current job for 7 years and the last 4 have been draining the life out of me.  Somtimes I fear change but I know that what lies ahead is far better than what lies behind.  Best of luck to you!!  :)
