Not food related: On Our Way to Whole Foods...

It takes us about 45 minutes to get to WF--we consider it a date and enjoy the trip. Usually. Today we got behind a truck that had a message on the back window, "IF IT'S BROWN IT'S DOWN." It took me a couple of minutes to sort that out, then I looked at the whole thing. There was the outline of a deer before the message and after the message. And, yeah, there was a Georgia good-old boy driving the truck. At least he'd left his gun at home.  >:(

Well, you can only give what you have...sounds like that good ol' boy is full of organic fertilizer, if you ask me. By that logic, he better not get a tan or he'll be in danger of going down!

I went to Whole Foods for the first time on Tuesday.
I wanted to go again the next day.
It's now Saturday and I'm itchin to get back there and get my hands on a vegan brownie.

I guess I'm lucky because it's only 20-25 mins away, huh?  It felt like forever but now I'd drive many many miles to get to one!!!

I so fit in here... :) haha

ah yes, i am familiar with the "georgia good 'ole boys"....though, i was "Lucky" enough to live in athens, which is a bit more progressive than "camo and deer meat" oriented....
it makes me sad....
blatant mockery of some people's choices...
i'm (not usually) an angry vegan, slamming other people,
i do have respectful conversations though,
so, i'm always exponentially appalled when the meat eaters "splatter" their love of death everywhere.

but, i'm like baypuppy, i thought of "poop" too!

well, besides that obscene message, was your trip good overall? i don't know why but i actually enjoy grocery shopping. especially at whole foods! it's like the vegan meccah  :D. lol

Bookpapa and I love to shop at WF. Since it's 45 minutes away we go only once a week, but we go every week. Currently we have the luxury of being able to afford to make it our regular grocery store. Actually, I think we've saved money doing that since we don't make quick stops all the time at regular grocery stores and we don't eat out.

We had an especially nice visit today. I'll be explaining that when bookpapa uploads some pics from his camera.  ;)

And yeah, that's what I thought at first. That's why it took me a minute to sort it out. I figured he really couldn't be talking about poop--or could he. That's when I saw the outlines of the deer at each end.  :(

This is actually sort of related in a round about way.  The other day I was running an errand and I looked out over at a field that's actually a slew (water drainage area) and I saw what had to be a brown feral hog.  There is no season on feral hogs, if a hunter sees one and can legally discharge his weapon, he can kill it.  The only thing that probably is saving that pig is that it was in the city limits.  (They  probably break that rule whenever they can get away with it.)  Either yesterday or Thursday, I looked out my kitchen window and saw four or five deer grazing in neighbor across the alley's yard.  They were magnificent!  I'd found scat in our yard and everyone had told me that the deer are always coming around but in three years that was the first time I'd seen them myself. I couldn't get a photo because when I tried to sneak out from around the side of the house the neighbor's dogs went ape-sh*t barking.

wow.  i'm from southern california and i have to say i interpreted that sticker in an entirely different, not very friendly way.  i'd advise him to reconsider it if he plans on travelling too far.

Yes, it is not a good idea to drive around any type of inner-city area with that sticker, I agree.
But, like most, I thought of poop instantly as well, as this woman I used to work with had this motto: "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down".  Hmmmm....

I'm in California, too, and with all the immigration politics here, that bumper sticker had entirely different meaning to me. Either way, it is not in the vegan spirit which embraces compassion.

To speak of compassion, and to address the topic on this post, I enjoyed a visit to Whole Foods today. Took advantage of their Vegan BBQ fundraiser. Vegan chicken breast sandwich on a vegan sesame bun with lettuce and tomatoes, vegan potato salad, blackberry soda and a huge wedge of watermelon. All for $5. I'm too stuffed for dinner.

I hadn't been to Whole Foods in awhile and was pretty overwhelmed with all the vegan friendly foods, including a pyramid display of packaged cookies - double chocolate, donut wholes, muffins, etc. It's hard to rush in and out of that store.

dude, WTF? if it's brown it's down? reminds me of poop, personally.

Too funny, that's exactly what I thought! ;D

I discovered about 2 weeks ago that ground has been broken in West Orlando for the largest WF store in the state of Florida!  I'm so psyched!!  It will be about an hour drive for me from Tampa but it's interstate all the way!
