man! freakin salmonella!

i JUST bought a 45 count pack of Austin Cheese Crackers w/ Peanut Butter at BJs on wednesday, i've had one (yesterday for a snack at work) and now they're being recalled because like 450 people over 48 states have gotten sick because of another peanut butter salmonella thing.

last time with the peter pan pb, i finished the jar just because it was almost gone when they recalled it, and was fine. and i just finished an 8 pack of the keebler cheese n pb crackers, which are also being recalled b/c they both come from kellogg's... but i don't know if i want to chance it. Dean said if it were him he'd just eat them but he doesnt want me to take the chance, but i wouldn't anyway.

i wonder if they'll be up on the news enough to take them out of the vending machines at work....  ???

My local news station ran  story saying that the recll is expanding so quickly that the FDA website is running at least 24 hours behind. I think they may hve given another website, but I wasn't listening closely enough.

FDA is the main reason our food is so contaminated

Best thing to do is stay from Big Box Store Brands
You buy major brand processed foods more than likely you will be eating garbage.

I have never seen any of the organic simple brands recalled or even stuff like bulk peanuts.

joe, The FDA has its flaws, as does everything. But without them food safety standards would be worse. I'm getting a little bit tired of the assumption that organic brands are somehow safer or more elite. They're not. Check the FDA list; there are organic products on there, and some of the brands that Vegwebbers would trust as well: Clif and Trder joe's, for example.

I just looked at the whole list and the only thing on there I have ever eaten is the larabar
Zippy dog also eats nothing on the list.

stores like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are not in my area

Organic I can not truly trust either because they are regulated by the FDA

Do not mind me I have serious issues with processed food.

Rarely eat any processed food anymore and if I do I feel it.

In my opinion yes the FDA is evil they let so much slip through and most of these recalls the food in question is never recalled or known to the public.

Wonderful News on the Recall.

Just think of how much of it has already been consumed.

With a major recall like this they will probably be lucky if they recover 20% of it.

Thanks PPC, I am having a serious jones attack here.  I really miss my clif bars......sigh

The lady at the grocery store told me that only peanut products from that one company is a problem.  Seems that the place has been sited several times but nothing was done about it.  So it seems people had to die for something to be done about it????  So sad....
