Is it insanely hot where you are? NVR

Please tell me I'm not the only one suffering really hot temps and unusual humidity. It should be a dry heat, which I have coping strategies for.....not this!!!
My hamsters and mice are really hot and sad. They look really pathetic and I feel sorry for them.(Each has their own fan) :(

Hang in there, it's just beginning to coll down here in Georgia the least little bit. You guys sure have had a tough summer though. How's the forecast looking?

Our major hot spell is mostly over now. It's in the 90ish range now but awfully humid. We did have major flooding last week though. :(

We just got done with a major hot spell in southern michigan! The humidity was crazy--when you stepped outside it felt like you were taking a shower in your coths! It was so awful--I was so happy that I had central air for my kitties! It's finally cooling down now *whew*!

It's suppose to drop back down into the 80's starting Tuesday. I just hope I don't lose another hamster before then. My poor Ester passed away yesterday.

Iowa is just getting over its hottest time of the year...we're down to highs in the mid-80's for the most part, but we're still getting super-muggy-humid days.

In what part of California do you reside?  I'm really considering moving out there soon, but I don't know which areas I would like. (I need good public transport, fair winters, and work opportunities in the graphic design field)

I'm really sorry to hear that...*hugs* it's always sad to lose a pet. :(

I'm in San Diego.
I'd say San Francisco. It's expensive, but its got good public transit and it doesn't have really cold winters(I'd like to move there soon). Has work too. Any other major city in CA won't have good pub trans. Most of the major cities do have mild winters.

hey susan.brackett.
i hear you.  i'm in sd too and this is murder.  did we slip to the equator somehow?  i didn't hear about it, but then i was kinda off the grid for a while..
my mum (a nurse) told me to wrap up some ice cubes and "put them unda ya ahmpits".  (she's from the east coast.)  haven't tried it yet, but i'm throwing it out there just in case you need it.

I'm in Southern Mexico and it is insanely hot and humid right now.  High humidity and little breeze.  Weather only a mosquito could love -and they do.

It's hot and humid (like always). It's probably the hottest day of the year so far.

I live in the S.F. Bay Area.

Up until last week, it was very hot & humid. It has cooled off a lot & right now, it's about 50 F outside. Hmmm, is that because it is now September?

I'm baking here in Los Angeles too. Icky, sticky heat after an unusual evening of thunderstorm flashes several days ago.

About moving to California, public transportation is not great -- but it is improving. I ride the Metro a lot, the gold, red and blue lines. They are efficient, reliable. If you were to move to the San Fernando Valley, Long Beach or Pasadena you would be in areas with generally good job opportunities. They lead to downtown Los Angeles which offers connector DASH buses, if needed for free if you have a monthly Metro pass.
The neighboring Orange County also would probably be good to check out. But if you ride the train, you would have to ride the Metrolink which is much more expensive, and runs less frequently, than the Metro light-rail lines in Los Angeles County.

we didn't really have a Summer here at all in Germany,  afew nice weeks!  Spring was just great though and now Autumn is upon us.  Last year was so so nice with a lovely Summer ,  you could go out anytime of the day.  I'd hate to live somewhere where you couldn't go out in the day time cause it's so hot........................I really feel sorry for some of you guys :(

Southwest Florida: lower 90s with about 1000% humidity.  It rains briefly every afternoon....just enough to turn Tampa into a giant sauna!  Two weeks ago my air conditioner went kaput on a Saturday while my landlord was out of town....that was extra special!! >:(

Southern Spain is ALWAYS insanely hot in summer, tho thankfully this yr we didn't hit much more than about 46ºC. About 3 yrs ago we topped out at 53ºC and my CPU burned up.
This is our first summer with AC and we have been careful with it. We only use it in the hot part of the day and maybe part of the night. We are billed every 2 mos for utilities and it averaged out to like $50 a month. Well worth it!

Last weekend there was a rainstorm and the temps started to go down. I always pray for a rainy winter...too much history of drought here over the last 30 yrs.
