I'm still shaking

I was looking for resources on becoming vegetarian for the Transitioning to Vegetarianism Yahoo group that I founded.  I came across this video:  http://goveg.com/feat/chewonthis/

Near the end a "farmer" picks up a large concrete block and slams it down on the defenseless pig that laying on the ground in front of him.    >:(  I don't think that's the first horribly cruel thing that's been done to it.  I had to stifle a scream!  I'm still full of rage at this monster masquerading in a human suit!  I also want to cry.  Things like this make me more and more convinced that veg*nism is the only hope for our civilzation.  If we get it through their thick skulls and into the few brain cells morons like him have, that what he just did is MURDER, then we have a chance of surviving.  Otherwise violence is going to overtake us all.

/End of rant

oh my goodness!
first of all, just from your description there is no way i am making myself watch that... that is awful!

i am not even big on the animal rights thing.. but sometimes i am just so happy i don't cause any harm to my animal friends :(

I got part way through but had to stop watching.  I am typing this with tears streaming down my face.  I also have no speakers attached right now so with sound, it is probably way worse.  I want to watch it all but I don't think I can.

Humans are by far the cruelest living beings on the planet.

I've seen that, before.  It really reinforces veganism for me.  For some reason I was really affected by another video showing animal testing.  They use beagles because they aren't aggressive when you blind them with harsh chemicals.

I've watched all types of videos like this. Pretty horrific stuff. I can't imagine the mental stability of the people who work in such places or who treat animals this way.

But, these videos are almost like a short term fix. I've known people who watched them, and swore off meat because of them. A few months later, they're back to eating it. Images fade and are forgotten, unfortunately. I still think the vegan movement needs to make switching more personal to people, i.e. in terms of their own personal health. It's just more convincing, as not everyone is an animal lover.

My big, secret, bad vegan confession is that while I have been a vegan for a year ... when I go out to dinner with someone, and they order a big, juicy steak ... my own mouth waters. I want it SO badly. Instead, I have to eat my seitan. Which is good. Just not filet mignon.

I know many vegans who don't crave meat at all, who are disguted by it. But, I gotta say, it's a struggle for me. I liked meat, I still crave it ... my salivary glands go into overdrive when someone orders that steak around me.

I can control myself, but I hope one day this goes away!

I think it's even more commendable, then, that you have made the choice to be vegan.  Rock on!

I always knew I hated humans (for the most part, not all) for some reason.
This reinforces that belief a billion percent.
And people look at me like I'm crazy when I say I'd rather watch a human die than an animal... is that so wrong?  We're so desensitized to human death (not in real life, but in movies, etc.) and for me personally, I'll never get over seeing defenseless animals suffer for what?  human ickiness.

i can't watch anymore sick videos containing animal cruelty.  The images  just never leave my mind and i think I've had enough of those :'(
Tin.............reading your bit about the pig and the way it was slaughtered brought to mind an incident I had in France when my neighbour killed his pigs (  they had a life of total  confinement in a corner of a dark shed) ,  he produced a large hammer and literally beat them to death.  these people have such primitive minds and see nothing wrong with the way they keep and slaughter animals.  The worst thing is that  ' they refuse to be educated'.    These people will go through life and miss out on what it's like to be a wonderful, compassionate caring person :)
