i'm MOVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [update]
i just had to say it somewhere that i know it'll get read...
i'm finally moving!!!! Dean and I bought a house this weekend, we're still waiting to hear from the bank i think, but the listing isn't online anymore and the realtors told us yesterday that "it looks like you've bought a house!" and they were having the lady that lives there come in and sign some papers.
i'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!! :D ;D :D ;D
we've been trying to move out together for at least a year and finally we can. i can't believe how much money i'm spending though.. $1200 on a BED.. then uh.. another $850 or so on a tv ;) thankfully my mom is taking me out to walmart and giving me $400 for the little things, and we got pretty much everything for the kitchen last christmas.
i can't even express how excited i am! and the best part is since the house was 1 step away from being a foreclosure, that it's gonna go fast, and we'll be living there in about a month. the bad part is i have a month to get all my fav cartoons onto dvds ;) lol
*squeals!!!!*
How exciting to move to your first house. My son and his wife bought their first house almost two years ago and it was an exciting time. If you have to do some renovations or even minor decorating take lots of pictures so you'll be able to see the difference in the house you bought and the one you made your own.
:D Congratulations.

i'm gonna be taking pics like crazy :D and we already know we'll have to do some renovations. he wants to put a wood burning stove in the living room this summer to cut down on the heating bill during the cold seasons. and the basement is a blank slate which we're gonna try and turn into some kind of exercise room.
I'm soooooo happy for you! Can't wait to see the pics :)
;)b I'm so happy for you and Dean!
oooo Congratulations! I am all sorts of jealous! We get to buy our house in June, hahah. The joys of buying from the In Laws.
congrats!! my bf just bought us a house in august. i highly suggest looking for used items that friends and family want to get rid of. the only things that we have bought so far are lawn chairs, a desk, a queen mattress for 60$ and the fridge. everything else was given to us. then you can slowly give those things away as you buy furniture that really fits your style.
congrats again and have fun!!!!!
Happy news. Congratulations to you and Dean!
Wow, that's so exciting!!! Property is so expensive where I live- I'm hoping I don't have to rent forever! :D :D :D :D :D
Hooray!
i'm getting kinda frustrated now... Dean told me the realtor said today that the bank could take 3 days to 3 weeks to do whatever it needs to do to finish WHATEVER before we can continue on doing what we need to do to get in the house.. find a loan or whatever. sorry, i have no idea what needs to be done, the house is in Dean's name and he's taking care of all of that
i just dont want to have to wait ANOTHER 3 weeks to move, in addition to the whole month we have to wait. i'm so confused, i have no idea what's going on
thats how things were with our house, we got things settled with our realtor and the seller got his things settled with his realtor, then it was all up in the air for a bit until the realtors and banks and papers got worked out.
frustratingnnnnnggg! : ) you'll get through it!!!
i don't know what kind of loan program or even what lender Dean is going with yet. he's putting a substantial amount of money down
Make sure you have all the legal paperwork, inspections and understand the terms of the loan before you fork over any money and sign the papers.
Also make sure the things like electricity, plumbing, smoke detectors, gas and wiring are safe and up to code and that the seller takes care of and pays for anything safety upgrades.
My realtor was trying to get me to put all this money upfront - and I was about to - but I didn't thanks to my smart mortgage broker who looked out for my best interests.
Dean has worked with many home-improvement companies so he knows a lot about wiring and all that. his dad, too, and we didn't put in an offer til his dad looked at the house. Our realtors are my old 5th grade teacher who now is a realtor (doi lol) and a family friend, and her husband who used to be a mortgage broker, so they are taking really good care of us. Her husband even said he wouldn't sell us a house that he wouldn't sell his own daughter, and he's there for EVERYTHING, all the meetings and paperwork stuff, making sure we don't get taken advantage of
thanks everyone, i'll pass this info along to Dean

Oh good. It sounds like you are well taken care of and are doing everything right. My mortgage broker is the father of a close friend of mine so he treated me like family too.
The home-buying process does take longer than you'd like, lots of paper work and legal stuff, so don't let that get you down. It's normal and once the place is yours you will be so happy!

it's annoying more than anything else... i don't care if we can't move until like a month from now, i just want to know when we can move instead of this waiting game. and i'm afraid it'll end up being a few months before we even move. i want to be in my house by summer so Dean and I can enjoy the warm weather together
and it is getting me down :-\ i'm packing because i have a TON of stuff, but i don't want to be living out of boxes until we move if it takes much longer.
it's only been 3 days since we've known, but it feels like a lot longer
Has your realtor informed you of the new credit requirements that go into effect on April 4th?
not me, no. he might have told dean. i'll have to ask. what is it?
FINALLY!!!!!!! after an entire MONTH, the bank finally accepted our offer on the house. it turned out that the guy in charge of our case at the bank didn't even get the paperwork til 2 weeks after we put in our offer because he's well... incompetent.
we're hoping to move in the next 3 weeks but we still don't have any idea of a closing date. but atleast things are moving along now.
the main reason i'm excited right now is because now hopefully Dean will stop whining so much lol
