Quote from: ponycakes! on December 18, 2008, 11:19:04 PM hmm. i'm going to arizona with my family the 24th-31st, and sadly babysitting new year's eve (the kids are adorable and in love with me though, so it's not that bad). i'm free forever after that (or at least until jan. 13th because that is when i'm going back to school). ive been using parentheses a lot lately. hm.
Quote from: Meggs on December 18, 2008, 11:20:29 PM BAH! Where in AZ?! I forfeited my AZ trip this year. I couldn't bear to spend more time with the p's, even though I'm going to miss spending time with my friends down there. I start back up the 14th
PPC: awesome! thats perfect cus im totally free then too (being unemployed gives me lots of free time..) soooo, early next year we shall dine together! wherever you guys wanna go is cool with me, ive been to alot of the veg places so i'll let you pick. (but i do think the diner is a great choice for ponycakes first veg experience - lots and lots of things to choose from) theres always time for earwax, handlebar, sultans, alices, lakeside etc in the future Smiley i'll have to give their cake a 2nd try cus the other time i had it it was pretty dense and just ok. the milkshakes on the otherhand... so pick a date!
Meggs: YAY! So maybe we should make a mini-day of it? Like, late breakfast/early lunch for diner and then another place (or vice-versa?!) I mean, the cake is good and all, but you can get slices of the Diner cake at WF around here. It's a'ight. The cheesecake is probably the best, but it is really great when you just really want cake, and PPC is SOOOO right, the milkshakes are amazing. We could just order a bunch of stuff and try a little of each others', as well? I'M SO EXCITED!
Punk momma? We could have a girls day out?

I feel good about Friday the 2nd.
I'll be a bit constricted time-wise due to doggy daycare, but we can still make a brunch/lunch out of the day. Metras suck, but driving sucks more (actually just traffic sucks, not driving so much).

Hey, Illinoisans (is that a word?)... how about Chicagoans and Suburbanites!
Some of us cool kids are meeting for lunch at the Diner tomorrow.
Cakes, I need you to get in touch with me (I FB messaged you) about when you are taking the train down; I figure we can meet at the train station and take the El to the Belmont stop and walk to the Diner together?
Anyone else interested?

jeezus.. that monte cristo.. i'm getting all worked up just thinking about it.. the pic does not do the flavor justice.
i think they mighta put chips in the shake (aka the 0 fat, 0 calorie, 0 sugar cus-it's-vegan-shake) -- i think i saw some sitting on top... but since there's no photographic evidence we'll just have to wait for ponycakes to settle this.

I don't think ANY picture could do the MC justice. Seriously. Even seeing it in person doesn't do it justice. It's all oral (yeah, lets just go there, every thread ends up there anyway).
I thought I saw a few chips, but it also appeared to be some sort of peanut buttery dust or something on top as well?
I really dig how, because it's vegan, it's automatically healthy (at least for today, at least in our booth, at least in our heads).

We would have loved to have you, Merryweather! We plan on either going back to the Diner next time, OR the Diner AND Earwax, OR just making a whole day of vegan pigging out.
Perhaps we should just make a weekend of it. :)>>>

the shake was dusted with cocoa powder (which i inhaled and almost started choking on) and had small chunks of peanut on top. swirls of pb and chocolate syrup were all around the inside of the glass, but no chips. still yumm.

If I'm not mistaken, Evanston is north of Chicago and it is where Northwestern University is located.

Oh that's right- the choking dust. It was pretty though. Darn them and their lack of chips!

Yes Evanston is north of Chicago and Northwestern is there. It's a great town to walk around. There is a fun shop called the Mexican Store which is within walking distance of Blind Faith Cafe that has all kinds of cool eclectic stuff in it.
