If you had a 3 wishes...
Okay, can't spell guinea (as in gunea in a bottle, have no idea how to spell that, sorry).
If you had 3 wishes, what would they be.
For me:
1) I wish that all animal products in the world, including meat, poultry, seafood, fish, dairy and eggs tasted rancid to everybody. Of course this would have to be on an individual basis since what tastes rancid to one person tastes good to someone else. (Sourkraut is a good example)
2) Wish that all humans could feel the pain that they inflict on other animals, including other humans. So when a person hurts an animal, or even another person they would also feel the pain that they inflict on others. This would stop people from torturing others.
3) Wish that I had a magical piggy bank that always had $20 in it. So if I took $20 out if it, that $20 would magically be replaced.
I would wish to find a veg*n nutritionist locally who doesn't cost the earth, who understands thyroid disease and knows the answers to the Soy Question and the Wheat Question re: weight gain and thyroid.
I would wish for DH to become friends with my beloved Dr J.
I would wish to be able to write this book already once.
Hmmm!!!
A world were everyone that is born can live in safety, be happy, is loved, grow to adulthood, have all the oppurtunities and education available and never experience hunger or fear. (That's a given.)
An interesting, caring, nice and fairly goodlooking husband, boyfriend or even a guyfriend that doesn't give me dirty looks or call opinionated when I just want to discuss world events. (Seriously, most guys around here are pinheads.)
To finally finish my education and get a good, rewarding job.
I would eliminate diabetes. And all other diseases, but diabetes first.
I would eliminate that stupid concept that says thin is beautiful. It's so hurtful and toxic.
I'd give cats a better way to eliminate their waste than to have to pee and poop. I seriously hate litterbox duty.
I'm a size ten. :)
I'm a size ten. :)
I am between a size 8 and 6. Not fat and ugly and neither are you. Supper skinny models are not pretty. As I noted above, such people that think skiny is beautiful are pinheads. They are not worth your time.

Seriously, who are these people who perpetrate this myth that thin is beautiful?
Actually MM was a 12-14 most of her life. And sometimes even a 16.
And Elisabeth Taylor, considered one of the most beautiful of Hollywood actresses, was "statuesque." If you watch Cat on a Hot Tin Roof you will see she wore a "foundation garment" even then--basically a girdle from her breasts to her knees.

It started in the 60s with Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn. By her own admission AH had suffered from malnutrition (as did many others) during WW2 and later found it hard to eat, even though she was always hungry. (This is incorporated into "Charade" where she is always hungry and can't eat when the food shows up.) Twiggy was an undiagnosed anorexic. But their look was very different from the curvy starlets popular in the 40's and 50's with the "new look", so "doe-eyed" waif-faced models became "beautiful" and this was later exagerrated to get the bonerack models we have today. Who make their money by walking. Walking up and down a catwalk and that's all. Great contribution to society, that.
I'm a size 10 too! ::) Actually somwhere between size 8 and 10. I lost 50 lbs after having my baby, breast feeding is da'bomb!
Can I have one more wish? you'all had one that I have. The man one, a sweet caring man who is also vegetarian, and doesn't sit on his A$$ and not contribute around the house but actually wants to put in his fair share, and is a good papa to my wonderful baby boy. That would be so wonderful...

If you find him, ask if he has a brother.

I would have never of thought of that wish, but its perfect.
I'm a size 10 too....and damn proud of it (most days) considering I used to be a size 18, I shouldn't complain
i used to be a 6..then a 13..no a 10. im getting to be proud of it.
I'm trying to figure out what sizes you mean in NZ sizes... I'm pretty sure its this:
US 2 = NZ 6
US 4 = NZ 8
US 6 = NZ 10
US 8 = NZ 12
etc. Can anyone confirm this?
I used be a ballet dancer in my childhood and teens, so I was always a super skinny size 8 (US 4?) and was always one of the "big girls" in my dance school even then, then when I stopped dancing at around age 16 due to depression I rapidly went up to size 14 (US 10)? and hated myself! I'm not a very big or tall person, so I just thought I was hideous, and of course being so unhappy compounded the problems I was having. As I recovered I also got fitter and healthier and am now a healthy weight for my height I think.
It's such a stupid societal expectation that women should be unrealistically thin. A friend of mine was like "All models are shaped like young boys. OMG do you know why? The fashion industry is run by gay men! Gay men are attracted to boy bodies! THAT'S WHY!" It made me laugh :D
But yea. I work really hard on liking my body as is. As much as I say I do, it's still difficult sometimes when I don't look like people who are presented to me every single day as beautiful. </rant>
Sorry about that...
theo, it's totally ok to rant, thats what this is for!! haha. and yeah, im in that "hating myself but slowly accepting myself" stage. lol
Theo, I didn't know you did ballet as well as/before swing!
I was also a ballet kid - for 16 years !!
I've also never understood American sizing, so I think you've educated me today : )
What's wrong with curves?! 8-) :jamming:

Nothing! Curves are ultra sexy...as long as they're in the right places ;)
