.....the word, that is.....heehee......
I called someone "honey" today, and I thought to myself, 'Kate, that's not vegan!'
Maybe I should go around calling people "agave nectar" or "maple syrup," no?
Tee hee ;D
:-*
hehe, vegan pick up lines......
Tee hee hee..pinkerbell calls me agvar--it's so sweet! I tend to call people honey though--I feel stupid calling them agvar because invariablly they say "what????" like I'm insulting them or something...or well, maybe it will catch on--what if you just called people nectar? that seems to be a sweet neutral term!
This has actually crossed my mind too! I tend to stick with "sweetie" as it encompasses honey, sugar, etc without being too specific! You can say "sweetie" and mean "agave!"
I called my step-son, "dear", yesterday. As long as it's not "deer", it's OK, right. He's a hunter and I'm sorta glad I've never met him in person or talked to him for very long before turning the phone over to my husband.
:(
On the other hand, if they are annoying you, can you call them "agar-avating"?? ;D

Haha! You all are so funny.
Oh, the things we think about as veg*ns.....
That's enough. You're "agar-avaiting" me! :-D
I like nectar of the goddesses/gods! :)>>>
my boyfriend has always called him honey, and ever so often i remind him of the irony (of calling a vegan "honey")... but i don't think it's about to change.
i guess it's kind of weird to use food words as terms of endearment anyway... like the french "chou"(cabbage)

In Spanish if someone is really decent, trustworthy, honest etc., they're "a piece of bread." I guess because bread really is the staff of life in Spain. A couple of friends of mine went to Brazil to investigate for a book they wrote, and they stayed in a monastic community in the middle of the rain forest. The brothers went out of their way to make some bread for them, "Because we know Spanish people can't eat without bread!"
i quite often call people cupcake or pumpkin, sometimes sweetie or sweets. my boyf calls me honey but i don't mind really, sbetter than him being mean ;)
**I meant "research". There was no crime involved. My English is slipping.
The word "honey" isnt vegan or non vegan. Its just a word. Is this really a concern? I couldnt tell by the title. ???
No, not at all serious, haha. I was just teasing. Just one of those "you know you're vegan when..." moments.
;D
;) I get it now! Sorry.
