You are here

Guys, I have a really sappy confession to make...

So, I went to my dentist yesterday and on the way there my throat start burning something awful. Good timing. He took one look and sent me to A & E because apparently I have some weird blisters on the back of my throat. :o (Cue my usual mad panic attacks when in proximity of a hospital.)

Anyway, back story over, I feel completely rough and for some reason I have been lurking around here all day... I find VegWeb so much more comforting than my usual haunts (LiveJournal, MySpace, etc.) when I'm ill.

Okay... I'm done - unless anyone can think of some nice soothing things for me to eat :-\

Poor thing. I advise soy ice cream immediately.

Aww.  Hope you feel better soon.  You deserve some ice cream!

Avoid citrus! That would hurt like the dickins!

Maybe something cold? Like the frozen berry/soy milk treat on here (can't find the link). You just take a cup or so of frozen berries, add about a cup or so of soy milk, let sit for a few minutes until the soy milk gets a little frozen, then add a bit of sugar or agave nectar and enjoy!

Oooh we have bananas downstairs. A smoothie is a fantastic idea :)

I suggest a fruit smoothie, like kbuttne suggested, for something cold.  When I make smoothies, I add frozen, chopped spinach as a way to up my greens intake.  It doesn't fully blend, but I can't taste it, either.

If you wanted something more food-ish, you could try real or cauliflower mashed potatoes.  Just cut it up, steam it, and blend it with whatever mashed potato fixings you like.

I hope you start feeling better soon.  I'm glad you stopped lurking and started posting.  :)

Nothing sappy about loving VegWeb! It's kind of like a coffee house where you drop in and chat about whatever comes to mind. It's cosy and safe...

...and yes, I have no life.  ;D

Make some chocolate ganache, dip a banana in it and roll it in some crushed peanuts. freeze and enjoy a couple hours later!

Seriously, make your favourite veggie type soup and add a good dollop of miso. A friend of mine drinks miso-and-water every morning--I tried it but it's not for me. The miso does make you feel better, I find.
