WOO  ;) ;D :D

HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously.

In addition to my birthday (October 7) I just love everything about fall! The colors, the smells, the weather. One of my favorite feelings is walking on pavement in the afternoon in the fall. The pavement is warm from the sun, and the air is cool. I just love that. And bonfires. And the food. And knowing that winter is coming.

I try to make my family to up north in the fall so I get the true lusch colors, but we usually don't go.

* changing leaves in the Appalachian Mountains (so. so. beautiful)
* comfort foods - lots of soup, curries, warm bread
* long sleeves
* not sweating within 10 minutes of being outdoors
* upcoming holidays
* memories of meeting/falling in love with my husband in the colder months  :)

-The leaves!  I love Minnesota in the fall.
-Thanksgiving, by far my favorite holiday
-Getting to wear all of my cute sweaters
-The first frost when the leaves get crunchy, then taking a long walk in the cool air
-Going up to the cabin in Northern Minnesota, having a camp fire and admiring Lake Superior

- The Munchkins are back in school!! Yay!! (Not that I have kids...it's just nice that they're not around. ::))
- Beautiful leaves covering the mountain trails (I like kicking through them while I run)
- Ginger Peanut soup with lots of cayenne and a warm fire (okay I have a lame pellet stove, but that'll do for now)
- That distinctive Fall smell
- Taking walks at night--the crisp, cool air and the moon always seems more expressive to me in the Fall--especially when it plays peekaboo behind a wispy ribbon of clouds
- Curled up on the couch with a good book, under a cozy fleece blanket, with my doggie and kitty

Persimmons!!!!!

Oh how I love thee, oh persimmon.  I love to eat persimmons fresh off the ground, persimmon bread, persimmon pie, persimmon everything.  I squish them against the roof of my mouth with my tongue, chew the skin as I swallow the seeds and pulp, then swallow the rest. Ummm, I love persimmons.  You have to eat persimmons that have already fallen to the ground, if you try to pick them off the tree and they just have a hint of un-ripeness, ohh the puckering starts, and it takes many more persimmons before the puckering goes.

So America has domestic persimmons?!?
THe first and only time I've seen persimmons was in Japan.  I didn't even know the English name when I started eating them.  I'm thoroughly addicted too.

Also, its 'otsukimi' season - when the nights are crisp and cool, the sky clear, you can go moon watching and see the bunny in the moon.

You also drink warmed sake and eat bunny shaped deserts at otsukimi. ;)

fall used to be my second least favorite season, winter being the worst.  I hate the cold.  so now that I live in Texas, I love fall because its like summer in the north but with all of the fun holidays and no snow and no cold! horay!
